The Ball Is In Legend's Court
Atletico Madrid manager Aidan Legend has conducted his first training session with the players at Vicente Calderon today, three days before the team departs on their trip to America that will see them play 3 games against DC United, New England and San Jose across 11 days. Over the course of the next few days, this time should act as a trial period for the players, where Legend will decide on his first team squad over the basis of their determination, willingness, ability and communication with the other members of the team. With a star studded line up such as the one in Atletico, Legend will is sure to have his fair share of tough decisions regarding the tactical side of his reign.
Will he go with the side that won the La Liga last year, or build his own way?
Many people believe that the 4-2-3-1 should be the formation of choice for Aidan Legend, as it suits the strengths of his players, and in itself is a very strong formation both defensively and offensively. Although the transfer market is still open, many believe Legend has a strong enough squad at his disposal to compete in the LIGA already.
BBC Sport's predicted line-up for Atletico Madrid in the 2014/2015 Season:
Jan Oblak - 20 year old goalkeeper - Very strong and bags of potential.
Juanfran - 29 year old right back - Experienced, strong defensively and good on the ball.
Diego Godin - 28 year old center back - Experienced, leader, strong and solid.
Miranda - 29 year old center back - Aerial strength and defensive mastermind.
Siqueria - 28 year old left back - Quick on the wings, good passing ability and defensively strong.
Pogba - 20 year old center-midfielder - Great on the ball, superb longshot and quality passing and young.
Koke - 22 year old center-midfielder - Good pass, sound dribbling, young and strong defensively.
NEW SIGNING - left midfield position isn't strong, and next to 0 depth. Something needs to happen here.
Arda Turan - 27 year old center attacking midfielder - Good dribbler, vision, creative and a good passer.
Cuadrado - 25 year old right midfielder - Strong, pace, great dribbler and good at crossing
Mandzukic - 28 year old striker - Great in the air, strong and a workhorse.
The Atletico Madrid first team squad is very solid all round, with various strengths in different areas of the game, and with balance of play styles. If the team can gel together, and understand each-other, like they did under Simeone, the future looks bright for Atletico. On the bench, would be players such as Gabi, Alderweireld, Guilavogui, Rodriguez, Leo, Ansaldi and Raul Garcia. However, the left attacking midfield is still a problem that needs to be fixed, however with the money available to Atletico, I'm sure they will find a more than suitable candidate within the near future.

Key Players For The Team:
Diego Godin - Diego Godin was the Vice-Captain under Diego Simeone, and he played a vital part in the team that won the league last year. He showed maturity and professionalism in his role, and was always consistent, providing and doing the most for the team that he could. He is everything a manager would want in a centre back. He is an aerial threat, strong, versatile, focused, disciplined and a good sense of positioning. Diego Godin will no doubt take a leadership position with the team, and will continue his good form due to his immense ability.
Juan Cuadrado- Juan Cuadrado has only just joined the team, however he has proven himself at Fiorentina, and he has shown how deadly he can be on the wings. Juan Cuadrado has the pace, the vision and the dribbling. Cuadrado is likely to show the same venom on the La Liga turf as be did in the Serie A. Cuadrado is likely to become a big part of Legend's plans, and we personally hope to see him thrive under Legend, due to his exciting way of playing.
