After missing out on all European competition for the first time in more than a decade, Filippo Inzaghi has promised the club will improve on their performance last season. After finishing 8th last season, Milan has seen their worldwide appeal fall considerably and have brought in Inzaghi to replace Clarence Seedorf who was in charge of the club for six months.

“We must be realistic with our expectations, our fans are enthusiastic but we must focus on each game in order to get the club back to where it belongs.” Inzaghi told reporters. “The arrivals of players such as Torres and Van Ginkel are excellent but we must continue to bring in high quality players in order to compete.” he added.

Putting Inzaghi in charge has been widely criticized by numerous people, many citing the fact that hiring a manager who has never managed a club failed last season. If Milan is any hope to return to their former glory, Inzaghi must install stability in and around the squad while ensuring they display enthusiasm for the game itself.

Despite all of the above and his iconic status at the club, Inzaghi must be successful in his first year and meet the expectations of the board and the fans or he will risk suffering the same fate that his former teammate Clarence Seedorf faced prior to Inzaghi’s appointment.

Sad to see Torres at Milan as a Chelsea fan, but good luck! Will be very interesting with Inzaghi as manager since he has no managerial experience

Walter Mazzarri has announced his optimism about the season ahead, saying that Inter is in a prime position to bounce back after last season's mediocrity. Mazzarri believes that the Milanese club can break back into the top 3 after their position was taken by Napoli and Roma. The 52 year old also says that Europa League qualification isn't enough and that they need to push for Champions League glory once more.

Once the powerhouses of Italian football, Inter will be looking to improve on last season's position of 5th, and Mazzarri seems to be the man to do so. Some new signings such as Nemanja Vidic should also bolster the Nerazzuri's chances. The pre-season heralds a new change for the Milanese club, and with a focus on Italian youth things look up for fans of Inter Milan.

FOR A FULL CLARIFICATION:

The stadium is now officially known as the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, named after Inter Milan's LEGENDARY goalscorer from the 20's or 30's. However, as the stadium is built in the "San Siro" part of the city of Milan and Rossoneri fans don't want to call the stadium by the name of a rival player, they still use the old name of the stadium, San Siro.
