Di Maria doing brilliant, fantastic month as well
@Mo: Agreed, he's adapted well to the BPL! Thanks!

Di Maria: "I'm loving life as a Manchester United player."

Manchester United Player of the Month Angel Di Maria has expressed his happiness of playing for Manchester United in his latest interview.

The 26 year old joined Manchester United this summer for a British record transfer fee of 59.6 million pounds, making him one of the most expensive players in the World. He decided to leave his former club Real Madrid for United as he was not getting enough playing time and wanted a change of scenery, choosing Manchester as his destination, snubbing off an offer from Ligue 1 side PSG who were re portably interested in purchasing the players services.

He has really impressed United fans with some sublime performances, most notably his hat-trick against Leicester City, in which he showcased what he is all about and is doing his up most best to pay off his huge transfer fee. The winger has recently won United's 'Player of the Month' award which is voted by the fans, winning 67% of the vote, ahead of Antonio Valencia and Phil Jones, who have cemented their place in van Gaal's starting XI after some excellent performances.

van Gaal run out of superlatives for Di Maria, speaking after his sides cup win against QPR, telling the media that he is "one of the best players in this current period" and that every game he "finds another way to impress us regardless of whether we're winning or losing". Di Maria's United and Argentina team-mate Marcos Rojo has also praised the winger, saying on his official Twitter that he is "very happy for Di Maria after winning the Player of the Month award", which gained over 5,000 retweets and favourites.

Di Maria told the media the following after winning his award, speaking live on MUTV which was broadcasted around the globe;

"It is an honour to win this award for a number of reasons, firstly Manchester United are the biggest club in the World, and when their fans vote for you to win such a prestigious award, you feel so proud and happy as you know you've performed well and impressed the fans. I'm enjoying my life here in Manchester, it's a lot different to Madrid, mainly the weather! But it's a great place to be and I want to stay here for many years."

"The manager is a great man, he is a World Class trainer and makes you perform to the best of your ability. He plays you in your best position and is a great to work with. I've learned a lot playing under him and if anyone is to lead United back to the title, it's van Gaal. Overall, I'm loving it here in Manchester and I'm enjoying my football, so live is great right now."

United have some big games this month, with reigning Premier League Champions and local rivals Manchester City visiting Old Trafford, which is deemed as a 'must win' game if van Gaal and United want to push for the title this season as both City, Arsenal and Chelsea are only a couple of points behind United in the league and a win against City would really boost confidence to go on and win the league in van Gaal's debut season.
contrary to some reports, I believe
Great to see Di Maria enjoying his time in Manchester...would be a shame if he left for Paris :P
On his day up there with the truly elite, let's hope he keeps on firing!
@Tall: Haha, well he's very happy on FM so hopefully he is IRL too.

@Neal: It would be a shame, but it's highly unlikely we'll be seeing him leave anytime soon. ;)

@Walt: Agreed. He's took to the BPL with storm so far!

THIS MONTH: Manchester United vs Manchester City

This month will see the first Manchester derby of the season, with our noisy neighbours Manchester City travelling to The Theatre of Dreams.

It is going to be one of the biggest derbies for a while as our new manager Louis van Gaal is going to get a taste of what it's like not only to be at a Manchester derby, but to actually manage in one. With both clubs strengthening over the summer, and more big names entering this huge fixture, it is set to be one of the greatest games of the season, but the question is, will we be able to get revenge over City for their double over us last season?

This fixture was a simple one for United a few years ago, however after City were took over and had the resources to strengthen their team, it has proved to be a much harder challenge for The Red Devils. We've had some great victories both at Old Trafford and The Eithad Stadium, but so have City, with their best season being last season after they beat us 4-1 at The Eithad and 3-0 at Old Trafford, making it one of the worst seasons on record for United in this fixture.

City's most memorable moment however was a few seasons ago, when they recorded a historic 6-1 victory over us at Old Trafford which changed the way both sets of fans looked at the derby. This is a big opportunity for United to prove their worth and bring back the old times at Old Trafford when City come to visit, with a undefeated streak since the opening day of the season, which makes us go into this fixture as the most inform side in the league, which in theory should give the players much needed confidence to go out there and show who owns Manchester.

Sir Alex Ferguson stated that United 6-1 loss to City was 'the worst result in his entire career'.

The biggest change in the derby this season is the arrival of new manager Louis van Gaal and his 'Galácticos', being Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Daley Blind. United fans are confident that the inclusion of these new players and van Gaal will prove the be the deciding factor of the fixture, stating that the quality of the new players and the mind of the new manager will prove to be the key to winning this game. One player who has always proved vital in Manchester derbies is the skipper Wayne Rooney, who said the following about the fixture;

"Manchester derbies are now one of the biggest games in our season due to how strong City have become. They always come here to win and it's our job to stop them and show them who really owns Manchester. I've played in many derbies and each year I enjoy them more and more due to the amount of quality shown in both squads. I'm very confident that we can defeat them as we've got players in this squad who are hungry to win, and we have some members of the team who can change the game in a matter of moments. We are going to defeat City."

Rooney scored what is classed as the 'best Manchester derby goal' a few seasons ago, but the skipper has now adapted a more calmer and deeper role than he played earlier, with van Gaal opting for him to play behind the striker in an attacking midfield position. Rooney has become a more disciplined figure too, making him the perfect player to have in midfield, especially in derbies as he will be able to calm his team-mates down if there are some bad situations throughout the game.

Rooney scored a superb overhead kick against City in United's 2-1 victory over City in 2011 at Old Trafford.

The game is set-up to be one of the best games this season, there is so much history between these two clubs that you just can't decide who is going to win. It's going to be a great season for both sets of fans but also the neutrals as Manchester United prepare themselves to face their local rivals Manchester City later this month. Tickets are still available but rumour has it that they are close to being sold out. Come on United!
Good luck against the blue half mate.
That Rooney goal is one of the finest I've ever seen. Good luck for the derby, Josh, I'm sure LVG's men will reign supreme!

Nice graphic, too.

Excellent preview article Joshie!
That Rooney goal really was sublime; hopefully another special moment like that can be created by your team in this game, but even more importantly, let's hope you can beat the 'noisy neighbours'.
Would be a shame if you got hammered... :P

@No1VillaFan: Thanks, Di Maria is quality.

@Neal: It would be a shame indeed. ;)
