Cabeye and Susic are great signings, a nice mix of young and old there. Loved the touch of having his quote via his translator too, very nice :)

Amazing signings this window, every one of them high caliber players. Cabaye and Volland are the gems of the lot, of course, but Susic and Bennett are also good pickups. Hope the results start to get better now!

Vlaar: We Must Improve

Vlaar tells all about the month that has just been

After the awesome transfer window that Paul McGrath and his Villa squad had, it was obvious there was going to be some issues with getting the right formation for the right personal that include the new signings, Yohann Cabaye, John Stones and Kevin Volland are now going to be instrumental in the direction that Aston Villa go forward.

Captain Ron Vlaar was the guy to explain about the month's matches and what they need to do to improve for the assault they want to launch next season.

We were amazing at times, and awful at others, I am proud to be part of this squad and we smashed Watford 4-2 in the F.A Cup 5th Round replay, where goals from Gabby, Jack, Kevin and Dorin sent us through for a tie with relegated side Fulham.

We then played Everton and this for me is the best ever match I have been part of and I was chuffed for Stonesy because he scored the winner with a crisp volley that I could never do! Luc, who has looked great this season and the ever amazing Jack got the goals as we won 3-2 against a team in the top four again.

We then played Arsenal and that was a absolute horror show for us. We went too gung ho and it was working until I stupidly got sent off. My tackle was absolutely ridiculous too but I can not help that now. It was a double footed challenge and I got warned by Paul (McGrath), and it will not happen again, we are all entitled to one stupid mistake.

Then, with me banned we played Fulham in the F.A Cup sixth round and to be honest, they were just better than us and we went crashing out. Micah and Tom got the goals, Tom is a man on a mission at the moment, he is actually on fire at the moment and should be in the England side.

We then went on to lose to West Ham too and it was this match where the gaffer sat us all down and told us that he was going to be changing the formation to a 5-2-2-1, now I was happy with this and I hope that Gino Peruzzi, who got frozen out earlier in the season can come back now, the fans love him and the squad love him too.

Peruzzi is being given another chance

So after the last couple of matches we improved in defence but I feel sorry for the strikers because the Hull keeper Allan McGregor was on fire because Villa had 25 shots on goal, 12 on target and it ended 0-0. We were frustrated at the end but I have seen enough to be able to say that I can see this team high up the table next season.

We do need to improve and we will, the fans and the Chairman are giving Paul the time he wants to build an amazing squad and is looking for the team to win the Premier League eventually. I am proud of how far we have come and we will get to where we belong.

Arsenal still leading the EE Premier League with Chelsea, Everton and Manchester City four points behind them but Arsenal are playing amazing football at the moment. Everton continue to amaze this season and it looks like Manchester United and Liverpool will miss out on Champions League football this season aswell as Spurs, but they are doing awful down in 9th place.

Villa are 11th with a game in hand though and are 10 points clear of the relegation zone which includes Southampton on just 19 points and look doomed but Forest and Wigan are catching Charlton and Hull as Leicester put a run of form together to get themselves out of the relegation zone at the moment.

Villa Player Of The Month

I have given this to Tom Cleverley again, he has been awesome and works very hard every match. He always creates chances and he should be a permanent part of the England team. I love it here! I think I will be here for the rest of my career, it is that good and look at the talent I am surrounded with. Ruben Garcia, Agbonlahor, Stones and Volland means I just can not wait to play again next month.

Aston Villa play Wigan, Stoke, Chelsea and Swansea next month and you would expect with the quality of Villa's squad they should win three of the four matches but time will only tell.
not the best month, but i'm sure the guys will rally round and push on next month!

Great update as always! I really enjoy reading it, I learned a lot from reading your story, keep it coming. :)

Villa Win As Volland Hits His 50th Goal Of Career

Aston Villa were always expected to defeat Wigan but this could have been the match where everything clicked for the team in Claret & Blue. Villa made the damp, cold visit to the DW Stadium and it was one where Kevin Volland hit his very first goal for the club and his 50th goal of his career so far.

Volland, who moved to Aston Villa in what could be called the shock move of the transfer window put in a committed performance on his way to the goal he scored. The German who played for Munich Lions and Hoffenheim looked delighted to finally score his first goal and his manager Paul McGrath stated just how important it was at the end of the game.

Volland scored his first goal for Villa against Wigan and his 50th goal of his career

To go to a difficult stadium like The DW and not only win, but thrash Wigan was a great performance. Volland's first goal for the club was important though because he came here and the pres were saying that he should be the linchpin for Villa for many years to come and today he finally showed that he will be an amazing signing for us. Lets not forget though Luc Castaignos scored his tenth goal of the campaign today, yet again he is proving just what a quality player he really is. Also I want to congratulate Gregory Van Der Wiel for his performance, I have never seen such a fantastic display by a right back in all my days as a player and as a manager.

The match actually started well for Wigan with Delort hitting the post in the 2nd minute, however Villa grew into the game with a new back 5 formation with Micah richards partnering Vlaar and Stones all held firm for the whole match.

Delort his the post early on against Villa

Aston Villa really started to put a foothold on the game when Volland hit his 50th goal of his career with a crisp 8 yard low drive, Villa though just kept on playing attractive football and peppered the goal of Wigan. It paid off in the 35th minute though when Emerson Boyce slipped and Luc Castaignos ended up in about 20 yards of space, and when 1 on 1 with the keeper he bent it round the keeper to make it 2-0.

Castaignos scores against Wigan

Wigan were dead and buried by then so when Ruben Garcia hit the third there was only half a stadium left meaning that Villa had finally got a decent win under there belt again and with both keepers, Rodek and Rajkovic on international duty Jed Steer kept a clean sheet. Romagnoli and Rotariu were also unavailable meaning Villa did an excellent job to win.
Always good to see new players scoring.
It looks like he is going to break records .
BadWolf Yeah it is always great to see

Hashim I certainly hope so

Fifty/Fifty Month For The Villans

http://i57.tinypic.com/1zoyib5.jpg

Aston Villa had a great start to the month but a dodgy end to the month as Villa hit 8 goals but conceded 6.

First up this month were Wigan and it was an easy match all in all because it was like Wigan did not turn up but it might have been because of how good attacking midfielder Kevin Volland was. He scored the first on the 5th minute and then set up Luc Casaignos to make it 2-0 to Villa. Ruben Garcia finished the romp off in the 60th minute and Wigan manager Uwe Rosler was complimentary to Villa after the match.

Aston Villa were very good today and deserved the victory. when you come against players like Kevin (Volland) and they are on form we can not compete. It is a shame for them (Villa) that they are not with the top sides in the Premier League, but if they play like that more often than not they will be up there at the end of next season

Villa then destroyed Stoke 3-0 and Luc Castaignos, who has been on for this season scored again to compliment John Stones and Dorin Rotariu. Aston Villa were very strong in the tackle against Stoke and it was bordering too aggressive but the referee saw nothing wrong with it.

Then Villa lost there next two matches, Chelsea destroyed them within 28 minutes to win 3-0 and despite a fightback against Swansea through Castaignos and Volland, the Welsh side hung on for a 3-2 win.

Aston Villa, though are showing great improvement and although there are still times where they get the odd thumping, I think it obvious you can see they are the up and coming force in the Premier League. It may take two or three seasons to happen but we are expecting them to make more signings in the summer and really push on next season. They have a great pool of players now and with additions such as Cabaye, Volland and Stones it demonstrates how much new chair man Mario Palttner is willing to go to bring success to Aston Villa and thier fans.

Arsenal, yet again have thrown it away this season and currently lie in 3rd place behind Man Utd in second and Chelsea. United have a game in hand, if they win that then they will be in the driving seat to win the title with 6 games to go. Everton are two points behind Arsenal in 5th place with Liverpool and Q.P.R 10 points behind Everton.

Aston Villa are in 11th on 40 points, which means that they should be safe and can now look forward to hopefully moving up the table next season. Southampton's fate is almost sealed as they are 8 points off safety with Hull, Leicester, Wigan, Charlton and Nottingham Forest have a big scrap over who else can avoid going down with Southampton.

Villa Player Of The Month

http://i60.tinypic.com/10furo6.jpg

Luc Castaignos, again picks up the Villa Player Of The Month award. He scored 3 goals in 4 games this month meaning he has scored 13 goals this season meaning he is just 2 goals off the season's total from last season. It is going to be important that he carries it on for the rest of the season.
Good wins, don't think too much about that 3-0 lose, its just Chelsea being Chelsea, you will get them when you grow a bit more. Shame game with Swansea ended that way. Volland is doing good, I believe you can do much better next year.

Obi Out With Ebola!

Ebola has been rife in Africa for about 3 years now but up until now there had been no issues with it effecting football players until Nigeria traveled to The Congo where one unlucky player contracted the disease.

Joel Obi has been one of Aston Villa's stand out players this season but now he will be missing for a unknown amount of time because he officially has Ebola.
The virus spreads by direct contact with blood or other body fluids of an infected human or other animal.Infection with the virus may also occur by direct contact with a recently contaminated item or surface. Spread of the disease through the air between primates, including humans, has not been documented in either laboratory or natural conditions. The virus may be spread by semen or breast milk for several weeks to months after recovery. Fruit bats are believed to be the normal carrier in nature, able to spread the virus without being affected by it. Humans become infected by contact with the bats or with a living or dead animal that has been infected by bats. After human infection occurs, the disease may also spread between people. Other diseases such as malaria, cholera, typhoid fever, meningitis and other viral hemorrhagic fevers may resemble EVD. Blood samples are tested for viral RNA, viral antibodies or for the virus itself to confirm the diagnosis.

It is yet unknown as to how Obi caught it but some of his Nigerian team mates are suggesting he went to a prostitute to have a good time but it now looks like it has backfired and although we asked his agent Luca Beneventi for comment but it was refused, there will be more on this story when we get it.
