A slow start to the new year with a few hiccups. We defiantly want to remain confident and continue the good run that we ended the year with. We want to be turning these draws into victories.

Player of the Month – Leon Osman

With the side being rotated slightly over the busy festive period, Leon Osman showcased his abilities after he managed to get a consistent run in the side. Osman’s contract expires at the end of the year and the English midfielder may have played his way into an extension.

Manager’s Reaction

Well, we have to be honest here it was a very disappointing month. Not good enough and everyone at the club knows that. We are itching to get the record straight and that showed in the great victory against M.Tel-Aviv. We are working hard to ensure we don’t not repeat these sorts of results. I have decided not to award anyone with the player of the month award as there were no stand out performers in a terrible month. I can only hope we have a worthy winner next month.

Tough month, I hope you can turn it around but good job on advancing in Europa League.

DOUBLE DRAW

After the eventful tie between Everton and Shakhtar which ended up 6-3 on aggregate to the Premier League side. The Toffee’s have been rewarded with a tie against Italian giants Inter Milan. The two sides will fight out for a place in the semi-final over two legs, taking place on the 15th & 24th March. Inter Milan beat Viktoria Plzen 7-5 on aggregate to progress. The tie will provide Goodison Park with the European nights fans have dreamed of. Everton will be hoping to continue their great European form.

After a comfortable victory against Hull, Everton will now face Chelsea for the fourth time this season at Wembley. Chelsea knocked Everton out of the Capital One Cup, so Everton will be looking to take revenge on the blues. Everton will be up against it, the Toffee’s are yet to beat Chelsea this season.

Manager’s Reaction

After such poor results last month I was delighted the team pulled together and played some great football this month. We were unlucky to not go undefeated this month, however Manchester United played very well. The crowd at Goodison Park really drove us through against Shakhtar, they were incredible.

Player of the Month – Romelu Lukaku

Romelu has shown for us this month. He is starting to grow into a great striker. He has spearheaded our attack. I was very pleased to see that he can find the net in the important games. The signs of a truly great striker.

Interest hots up over ‘English Ronaldo’

With the end of the Premier League season looming, many have started to cast their eye to transfer targets. With everyone looking to snap up the young talent available. One young star who has caught the eye is, Patrick Roberts.

Having come through Fulham’s academy, Roberts has had the chance to shine in the Championship. The tricky winger has been dubbed by many as the ‘English Ronaldo’. Roberts has scored ten
goals so far this season for Fulham and notched 13 assists.

He has soon caught the eye of many top Premier League clubs. Both Manchester clubs are the early front runners, Southampton and Everton are also thought to be keen.

Chelsea 0-0 Everton
(Everton win 8-7 on penalties)

Inter Milan 1-0 Everton

Burnley 1-2 Everton
Jagielka, Stones

Manager’s Reaction

A really mixed month for us and the boys. We again failed to find any real consistency. Which has really cost us this season. Especially in the big season deifying seasons. I was very pleased with our first leg against Inter Milan. We were incredible and took the game to them. Despite their away goal we put ourselves in a really good position.
Many weren’t very optimistic when we were drawn against Chelsea. The media made a lot about our poor record against the blues this season. However we did excellent. The lads showed great faith, the penalties were nerve wracking but we showed our composure.

When we travelled to the San Siro, we know we were half way there. We had one foot in the Semi Final of the Europa League. However Rodrigo Palacio had other ideas. The score line left us in a tricky position, and we were living dangerously. Palacio late goal from close range left us wondering how we were so unlucky.

Player of the Month Muhamed Besic

Besic has been great for us this month. He has stood out, after failing to cement a starting place in the side he has been attracting interest from other Premier League clubs. However he showed his true potential with some very important goals for us.

MAY UPDATE

“ We have to be better” – Zinedine Zidane

Liverpool 2-1 Everton
Lukaku

Everton 2-0 Arsenal
McGeady , Lukaku

Newcastle 2-1 Everton
Lukaku

Everton 1-2 Crystal Palace
Aubameyang

Manager’s Reaction

A very poor month to end the season. I was very disappointed with the season as a whole because we had the opportunity to gain a top ten finish. Instead we now have put ourselves under immense pressure to win the FA Cup in order to regain a spot in Europe. None of the players were able to stand out for us, so again I have decided not to award the player of the month award.

We have lacked match winners in my opinion. We will look to add to the squad over the summer and we hope we can improve next season. So I will get the boys working hard and expect a higher a finish next season.

The fans have been great for us throughout the season and I would like to apologise to them for the disappointing domestic performances. We were very strong in Europe and the seasons has had many highlights away from the Premier League. From this we will go away, work hard over pre-season and look forward to the next campaign.

EVERTON LOSE IN FA CUP FINAL

Everton fall short at Wembley

Another dramatic cup final. A chance for two teams who have had a mixed domestic season to gain a spot in the Europa League. Everton and Swansea took to the stage.

In the end it was the Welsh side that came out on top. A very close game between the two sides which saw Everton come very close. Swansea took the lead through an early goal from Spanish right back Angel Rangel. The full back found himself in the edge in the Everton box, his deflected effort found the top corner.

Early in the second half Everton clawed their way back into the game. Record signing Romelu Lukaku came up with the goods to with a close range header. However Swansea battled their way through and found a second goal.

James McCarthy found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time off the back of a Swansea corner. In a freak goal that saw Leighton Baines attempted clearance smash against the back of McCarthy and land into the back of the Everton goal.

The freak goal saw Swansea hold on win the FA Cup. Zinedine Zidane would have been bitterly disappointed as Everton were on top for the majority of the game. However Swansea had the slice of luck you need to win a trophy.
Zidane should be sacked with that final finish :( Tough result in the FA Cup as well but it could have salvaged a disappointing season.
walkinshaw - I would have thought so too! Surprisingly the board haven't been a problem. I think it has taken him time to adapt, but everyone is hoping for stronger stuff next season!

TRIO LEAVE GOODISON PARK

Everton have confirmed today they have accepted bids for three of their senior players. It comes after manager Zinedine Zidane announced his plans to reshape the squad over the summer. The toffee’s are looking to offload their ‘fringe’ players.
Everton have accepted a £4 million offer from Aston Villa for Scottish striker Steven Naismith. Naismith endured a tough season under Zidane after it was clear he was not in his plans, with Villa dropping to the Championship he will be hoping for much more game time. Naismith failed to register a single goal for Everton last season.

The second player on their way out is Joel Robles. The Spanish keeper was impressive for Everton when called upon. Playing mostly in the FA Cup were the Spaniard only conceded two goals, which came in the Final. However due to the performances of Tim Howard, Robles has moved on in the search of regular football. Everton accepted a £1.6 million bid from newly promoted Notts Forest.

Finally, Everton confirmed they have accepted a £4.2 million bid from Swansea for midfielder Darren Gibson. Gibson fell down the pecking order under Zidane due to the fine form of players such as Barry and Besic. Gibson will be hoping for more regular football for the Welsh side that beat Everton in last season’s FA Cup final.

DUO JOIN EVERTON

“Two of the brightest talents in Europe” – Zinedine Zidane

After manager Zinedine Zidane was handed a very flattering £20 million transfer budget he defiantly put it to good use. The first arrival at Goodison Park has today been confirmed. For £12.75 million, Viktor Fisher has completed his move to Everton.

The winger joins from Ajax and has been tipped to become a star. The Danish winger is just another player to leave the incredible Academy of Ajax that has produced many great players of the years. It is believed that Everton faught off interest from the likes of Jueventus and Manchester City to snap up the winger.

Fisher is expected to jump right into the Everton starting eleven, where he will be battling with Aiden McGeady for the left winger spot.

Alongside Fisher, Everton have also announced the signing of another exciting prospect. Patrick Roberts has joined from Fulham for a fee of £11.25 million. Coming with a hefty price tag but a lot of potential. Roberts has been tracked by many of the big teams over the summer, so this is something of a coup for Everton.
It is unclear whether or not the eighteen year old is going to be staying at the club for the season or possible a loan move back to the Championship could be on the cards. However Zidane is no stranger to working with youngsters. Roberts could be battling it out with fellow Englishman Ross Barkley for a place in the starting line up.

ZIDANE ANNOUCNES THREE MORE SIGNINGS

“I’m looking for a new challenge” – Tom Starke

Everton have announced a further three more signings. Two of the signings have been made on free transfers after both players contracts’ expired with their respective clubs.
After the departure of Joel Robles, Zidane was keen to line up a replacement. In which he did with experienced goal keeper Tom Starke joins Everton. The goal keeper joins the Toffee’s after three years with the European Giants Bayern Munich. With Manuel Neur between the sticks, Starke did not receive much game time. Starke has signed as a rotation option, however who knows were a few good performances could lead.

The second free transfer come in the shape of Chilean striker Eduardo Vargas. The well- travelled striker joins after his contract with Napoli expired. Vargas scored 10 goals in 31 games for Queens Park Rangers last season, were he had a loan spell. Vargas is seen as a back for Lukaku to give Everton something different upfront.

Everton’s third and final signings so far is the sort after centre back Eder Alvarez Balanta. The Colombian is one of the finest young talents coming out of South America. At just 22 he is attracting attention from the biggest clubs around the world. Zidane has identified Balanta as the long term replacement for Distin and Jagielka.
