Aston Villa Transfers - Summer 2015

In order of amount spent, here are Aston Villa's summer transfers in full.

Arrivals

Tim Sherwood splashed some of the money from the Benteke sale to fund a move for Dutch centre back Douglas. The Brazilian-born defender had an outstanding season for Dinamo Moscow, a club where he quickly found an affinity with the Russian fans. The 27-year-old will be hoping to do the same in England as he embarks on his new quest in the Midlands.




Likely to take Aly Cissokho's left back spot, Albanian defender Elseid Hysaj also joins The Villains from Serie A side Empoli in a £6m deal. Villa struggled to find cover for Cissokho last season as the Frenchman spent large portions of the season on the sidelines but with the arrival of the 21-year-old Inter Milan fan, Sherwood should be able to relax a bit over the depth in that position. Hysaj also had a brilliant season for his club prior to the move.




Jorge Correa is a very exciting Argentinian midfielder, and he signs for Villa on a four-year contract. He is likely to rotate with fellow signing Bernardo Silva as they look to replace outgoing pair Carles Gil and Charles N'Zogbia. Like the two signings before him, Correa has played a fantastic season in Argentina before sealing his move to Europe.




M'Vila spent last season playing (well) alongside fellow Villa signing Douglas in a loan spell at Dinamo Moscow from Russian rivals Rubin Kazan. The French international has been criticized for his lack of professionalism in the past, however, and will need to move that out of the way if he is to cement a first team spot in Sherwood's team. He is likely to pair up with Fabian Delph in central midfield.




After he was brought back prematurely from his loan at FC Porto, Cristian Tello completes his move to Aston Villa. The Barcelona winger will play on the right wing rather than on his preferred left wing though, according to manager Tim Sherwood who wishes to keep up the development of Irish youngster Jack Grealish by giving him match experience. It remains to be seen whether Scott Sinclair has a future at the club.




One of two strikers brought in to replace Christian Benteke, Paloschi worryingly netted just nine goals for his Chievo side last season as they were relegated from Serie A. Paloschi is a good finisher, however, and he could well be a bargain for Sherwood. The signing of fellow Italian striker Antonio Cassano will surely benefit him.




Monaco fans will be disappointed with this one as promising Portugal midfielder Bernardo Silva has been allowed to leave the club for a minuscule £2.1m. The 20-year-old signed from Benfica for almost £12m, so the pain will be even greater for fans of the Ligue 1 club, especially since he performed very well in the limited amount of games he was given by Leonardo Jardim and Paco Ayesteran last season.




The deal for Andile Jali was completed during last season around the same time as the Fortuna Sittard youngsters, but Aston Villa decided to keep it quiet until now. At just £950,000, they've been able to take Belgian Pro League player Andile Jali away from his club Oostende. Jali was in fine form last season and was given the Ebony Shoe Award, which is given to the best African player in the league.




Antonio Cassano flopped at Real Madrid early in his career but found his feet in his native Italy during his career. A move to Holland and Ajax last season was out of his comfort zone but he managed to impress and scored five goals in fourteen games for the league champions. He is NOT expected to play as part of a strike partnership with fellow Italian Paloschi, and the two will rotate in a lone striker role.




The three Dutch youngsters were announced by Aston Villa last season on free transfers after all of their contracts expired at former club Fortuna Sittard, who narrowly missed out on promotion to Holland's top division last season. They have all shown signs of promise but the fact that they are free transfers means there is little to no risk for Sherwood's side.

Some really interesting transfers, from personal experience Elseid Hysaj develops into a really good player. Nice to see Delph staying too!

What a steal in Silva! Always listed in the 2nd season at the same price for me, too! M'Vila as AP concerns me though, wouldn't he better in a defensive mode?
