West Ham continued their unbeaten league run to 7 after winning 2 out of 3 games in the league in April. With just 4 games to go, West Ham are in the best possible position to make a serious attempt at Europa League football. First, let's see how they did in April.

Results

Barclays Premier League
TOTTENHAM 2-0
Adrian, Lowton, Tomkins, Sviatchenko, Cresswell, Poyet, Song, Amalfitano (inj Nolan), Ibe (inj Zambrano), Downing, Valencia
Aurelien Chedjou (OG), Stewart Downing
Mousa Dembele (Tottenham)

A nervy start from Spurs opened the door for West Ham to capitalise, scoring twice in the first 15 minutes including an own goal from Spurs centre half Chedjou. They then held on to record a great 2-0 win at home despite continued efforts from the London club.

Barclays Premier League
CRYSTAL PALACE 2-1
Adrian, Lowton (O'Brien), Svaitchenko, Tomkins, Cresswell (Oviedo), Kouyate (Nolan), Song, Poyet, Ibe, Downing, Valencia
Alex Song, Enner Valencia
Alex Song (West Ham)

Crystal Palace will consider themselves unlucky not to have won this match, especially being so crucial to their relegation battle. An Enner Valencia winner in the 91st minute sunk the Palace after Chamakh got an equaliser in the second half.

Barclays Premier League
HULL 2-2
Jaaskelainen, Lowton, Zambrano, Tomkins (inj Collins), Cresswell, Poyet, Song, Noble (Nolan), Amalfitano (Ibe), Downing, Valencia
Mark Noble, Enner Valencia
Mark Noble (West Ham)

Playing another relegation threatened side, West Ham will have been confident of a win but were denied by a fighting performance from Hull. Abel Hernandez and Dame N'Doye scored on either side of a West Ham double, comprising of a Noble free kick and typical poacher's effort from Valencia. Perhaps one that got away for the Hammers, not to take away from Hull's effort.

After picking up 7 points over 3 games, West Ham have secured a top 8 finish and have Liverpool in their sights. Although they have a far inferior GD, if the Hammers can get as many points as possible they have a fighting chance of overtaking Liverpool for that final Europa League spot.

Player Of The Month

Diego Poyet

The form of the Spanish midfielder continues as he stepped up in the absence of Mark Noble. His passing and tackling ability improves every week and it's fitting to see him touted as one of the top young talents in the Premier League at the moment.

Injury Update

Erik Sviatchenko strained his back in training on the 13th of April and is expected to be out for a further 3 to 8 days.
Matt Lowton strained his wrist in training on the 1st of May and is expected to be out for a further 8 to 11 days.
Jussi Jaaskelainen strained his calf in training on the 27th of April and is expected to be out for a further 2 to 3 weeks.
Matt Jarvis suffered a serious viral infection on the 20th of March and is expected to be out for a further 6 to 7 months.
Matt Jarvis might as well say bye to his career.
Very solid season, keep it up
Jesus, poor Jarvis .-.
Tal & Jer Yup. His best attribute was his speed and that's gone down considerably.

OneStreamBro Cheers mate :)

May 2015

The Europa League - if West Ham could get some good results in this final month, they stood a chance of making it. Liverpool and Everton were both also in the race for that elusive 6th spot, but West Ham had by far the harder fixtures, playing United at Old Trafford and then hosting Chelsea. Can they do it? Let' see.

Results

Barclays Premier League
BURNLEY 1-0
Adrian, O'Brien, Zambrano, Tomkins (Collins), Cresswell, Poyet, Song (Kouyate), Noble, Amalfitano, Downing (Ibe), Valencia
Aaron Cresswell
Aaron Cresswell (West Ham)

A nervy win for the Hammers after stuffing up multiple chances to get a crucial lead. Eventually it was left back Aaron Cresswell who scored the unlikely winner to narrow the gap with Liverpool to just a solitary point.

Barclays Premier League
MANCHESTER UNITED 0-1
Adrian, Demel, Zambrano, Tomkins, Cresswell, Poyet (Kouyate), Song, Noble (Nolan), Ibe, Downing, Valencia (Carroll)
None
Angel Di Maria (Manchester United)

An agonising defeat in a hugely important match, West Ham kept United goalless at Old Trafford for 93 minutes in a terrific display but Angel Di Maria managed to make the most of a last minute FK to give his side the win.

Barclays Premier League
CHELSEA 1-2
Adrian, Lowton, Zambrano, Sviatchenko, Cresswell (Oviedo), Kouyate (Poyet), Song, Noble, Amalfitano (Ibe), Downing, Valencia
Enner Valencia
Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

West Ham needed a win or a draw to have a realistic chance of making the Europa League and when Enner Valencia scored a cheeky goal in the 5th minute, they would have been confident of at least a point. However, the excellence of Hazard and Costa shone through as between the pair they sunk the Hammers' Europa League dreams.

Barclays Premier League
WEST BROM 1-1
Adrian, Lowton, Zambrano, Sviatchenko, Oviedo (Cresswell), Kouyate (Nolan), Song, Noble, Amalfitano, Downing, Valencia (Sakho)
Stewart Downing
Youssouf Mulumbu

Mathematically, the Hammers still had a slim chance of making the Europa League if Liverpool and Everton slipped up and they beat West Brom on the road. Unfortunately, the Baggies put in a solid performance to deny West Ham on the road and so the West Ham season ends.

So in the end the tough games were just too much for the Hammers, and they end the season in 8th. Still a remarkable achievement no doubt, for a club expected to finish 12th, and they will look back on their season with pride.
After a fantastic run, they let it slip at the last minute - although the fixture list mustn't of helped!
Unlucky end to the season. What kind of viral infection keeps Jarvis out for 6-7 months? ;)
So close .-.
Tal I tend to not blame the fixture list, we play the same clubs as everyone else.

mo_123 I can only assume Ebola or SARS or something xD

Jer I know, it was a heartbreaking finish

Another Premier League season ticks over and it's time to look back on who excelled, who surprised and who failed in the 2014/15 season. After 380 Premier League matches and countless transfers over 10 months, let's see who triumphed in one of the best leagues in the world.

Champions

It was Mourinho's men who raced to the title, winning with 5 games to spare and often looking like they had it in the bag from day 1. They lost just 3 games, to United, City and Arsenal, and finish with 95 points and an impressive 66 goal difference. Eden Hazard and Diego Costa had incredible seasons to fire the Blues to yet another title.

Manchester United were Chelsea's only competitors for most of the season, eventually finishing with 86 points in 2nd place. Manchester City and Arsenal scrapped for the last group stage spot, with City prevailing on 75 points whilst Arsenal must progress through the UCL playoffs. Wayne Rooney, Sergio Aguero and Mesut Ozil were the best performers for these 3 clubs.

Although they had already confirmed Europa League qualification by winning the League Cup, Spurs still managed to finish 5th, a point ahead of Liverpool, who held off Everton and West Ham to make the last continental spot. Federico Fazio and Phillipe Coutinho were the impressive performers over their campaign.

There weren't many surprises in the relegation zone, with Hull, Palace and QPR all considered among the favourites to go down. Stoke and Sunderland narrowly avoid the drop whilst QPR looked hapless all season, winning just 3 games.

Apart from the continental clubs, there were some other good performances around the league. West Ham broke out of mid table mediocrity and made a serious bid for Europa League action, eventually finishing 8th, whilst Leicester and Burnley defied critics to finish 13th and 14th respectively.

Golden Glove

Hugo Lloris takes out the Golden Glove after keeping 14 clean sheets in 38 games, beating Simon Mignolet of Liverpool and Petr Cech of Chelsea. The Spurs keeper will be happy with his display as Spurs finished 5th and qualify for Europa League football.

Player's Young Player

The Danish midfielder's form at Spurs continues, picking up YPOTY after an impressive campaign in which he contributed 18 assists in 35 games. Eriksen, 23, will now look to break into that elite category after two almost world class seasons.

There was some big shocks in TOTY, including the exclusion of Eden Hazard for Raheem Sterling. Diego Costa was also considered a certainty but instead it is Chelsea, United, City, Spurs and Liverpool with 2 players each whilst Leighton Baines of Everton is the only player in the side out of the top 6 clubs.

Golden Boot

A late burst from Mario Balotelli has seen him crowned 2014/15 Golden Boot, beating Wayne Rooney (24 goals) and teammate Daniel Sturridge (23) to top off a successful first season at Liverpool. His 27 goals have certainly justified his transfer fee and the revitalised Italian will be looking for more.

Player's Player Of The Year

Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney has been voted best in the league by his peers, with 24 goals and 8 assists in 28 appearances. His teamwork and work ethic is unparalleled and has been rewarded with Player's Player of the Year.

Footballer Of The Year

Chelsea's Belgian winger Eden Hazard is approaching world class level after another spectacular season at Stamford Bridge, scoring 21 goals and assisting 17 in 36 games. He tore the league to shreds and is undoubtedly the league's best player of the course of the campaign.
Very nice update, good to see Chelsea winning the title at a canter :)
Tal Cheers Tal.

Just a note, I know I'm updating quite a lot but I have a lot of transfer updates to go through so I'm gonna start early.

After a disappointing first season in the Premier League where he struggled for game time, Senegalese striker Diafra Sakho has made a £7 million move to Burnley in a bid to recapture the form which saw him leave FC Metz 12 months ago.

The brilliant form of Enner Valencia kept Sakho out of a starting spot for almost the entire season, playing just 8 games for 4 goals and expressing a desire to leave by the conclusion of the season. Burnley have quickly wrapped up a deal for the 25 year old who will earn £32,000 per week at Turf Moor.

The departure leaves West Ham with only 2 strikers, as Carlton Cole is also set to leave The Boleyn Ground. Andy Carroll is also currently injured, so Sam Allardyce will be looking to bring in a new striker as cover for Valencia for the season ahead.

I trust you'll use the money wisely ;)
