Liam Knowles: Hopeful Stagnation

In what was anticipated to be a fairly easy victory for Leyton Orient, it was Liam Knowles' Eastleigh side that crushed the Londoners on their own turf.

After running out 2-0 winners against Poole Town in the Fourth Qualifying Round, the First Round draw meant that The Spitfires were the 3/1 underdogs for a victory at Brisbane Road.

Pundits commented that Leyton Orient simply had to be professional about the challenge that Knowles' side had set them in the F.A. Cup tie to see Orient progress in the competition.

Eastleigh went into the match without three first-teamers, with Sam Togwell (abdominal strain), Devarn Green (hernia) and Tom Rosenthal (back strain) all missing out on the First Round tie through injury.

Jason Taylor made his Eastleigh debut in the absence of Sam Togwell, making an impact on the game with an assist.

It didn't take long for Eastleigh to ease into the game, with veteran striker Darius Henderson bagging the opener on the 13 minute mark with Jason Taylor slicing a neat ball over the top of the defence to which Henderson gleefully put the ball powering past the Orient keeper.

It wasn't until the start of the second half when Eastleigh marked down their second goal of the game, with Luca De La Torre - on loan from Fulham and filling in for the injured Rosenthal - doubled Eastleigh's lead. After Cisak's goal-kick went horribly wrong, landing at the feet of Jake Pickard, the young striker laid it off for DeLa Torre who smashed it past the goalkeeper at fault for giving away possession.

With a two-goal lead, fans were expecting the National League side to sit back and defend their lead, Jake Pickard had other ideas. The in-form striker latched onto a Jason Taylor slide tackle in the Leyton Orient final third to slot it past Cisak to make it three for Eastleigh.

A N'Nomo handball inside the penalty area as Ben Close whipped in a free-kick gave Darius Henderson a chance to make the score 4-0 with ten minutes of normal time left on the clock. Henderson took his chance, scoring his fourth penalty goal of the season as he put it beyond Cisak's reach into the far left corner.

There was still time for a consolation goal, however, as former Wimbledon midfielder Robbie Weir volleyed home a Liam Kelly free-kick from the left side of the field.

With the statistics fairly equal, Eastleigh showed great finishing prowess by scoring four of their sixteen shots on goal, in contrast to Orient's one goal in fifteen efforts.

With the score finishing 4-1, it means that Eastleigh can head into the Second Round with confidence off the back of the Brisbane Road victory.

The draw for the F.A. Cup Second Round will be made on 7th November. With teams like Sheffield United and Peterborough winning in the First Round, it can only get tougher for Liam Knowles' men to progress in this competition.
Great victory man
Fantastic win, the ongoing issues at Orient continue... Hope you get a good tie, you never know we could be seeing a Lincoln-esque run! :P
MJK: Cheers mate :)

Scott: Indeed, not looking good for the O's in FM either! I'd love a Lincoln kind of story! Mainly because of the extra revenue ;)

November has been an incredible for month. For the first time since I joined the club, we have really looked like a team who should be top of the table, not just in the scoreline but in how we have played. We have looked way out of our league with our style of play at some points during this month. It began with a morale-boosting victory of Leyton Orient from League Two, followed up by an absolute trouncing of Play-Off candidates York City where we shoved seven goals past them, before picking up another 12 points in the league with three more wins.

We will play Bury, who are at the bottom end of League One in the F.A. Cup Second Round, followed by Maidstone United in the First Round of the F.A. Trophy.

The results this month which bagged us twelve points rocketed us up into the middle of the Play-Off pack into third place. However, we are still very far away from the top two of Wrexham and Boreham Wood, as we are eight points from second place, yet only three points ahead of sixth place. We have the best goal difference in the league with a +29 ratio, four ahead of the next best - Boreham Wood - who are on +25 and we will play them next month.
At the bottom, Guiseley, North Ferriby and Solihull Moors are sinking further into a pit of darkness, as it looks like Dagenham & Redbridge are the only team likely to get out of the relegation zone at this halfway point in the season.

The injury sustained to Darius Henderson - which will see the 35-year-old on the sidelines for three months - has opened an opportunity for on-loan Jerry Yates to show his talent, with some excellent performances this month. He missed out at Leyton Orient but came on as an 18th minute substitution for Henderson against York and scored a brace in the 7-1 victory and has been a starter with Jake Pickard ever since, assisting five goals and scoring four this month, he can expect to keep his place in the side for a while to come.

WHAT A MONTH! Bury will be a tough tie, but not impossible. You have a couple teams you should be comfortably be beating (Southport, Maidstone) have to say though... Boreham Wood are having a dream season and Dagenham are on for back to back relegations, jesus.

Aye, we've beaten Maidstone with ease both times in the league. Boreham Wood are doing annoyingly well as are Wrexham!

  • Eastleigh manager Liam Knowles seen posing for picture with alleged East London drug kingpin Derrick Roberts
  • Roberts said to be brains behind series of unsolved murders in South of England
  • Knowles took charge of Eastleigh Football Club in July

Daily Mail sources have leaked an image of current Eastleigh manager Liam Knowles posing for a picture with Derrick Roberts in an exclusive shocker involving the National League side.

Knowles, 26, studied Sports and Exercise Medicine at Bradford University and graduated in 2005, bagging jobs at Bradford Bulls and Doncaster Rovers sport teams before finding his way into football management last summer.

People who know both parties of Roberts and Knowles personally have exclusively spoken to the Daily Mail have said that they have no idea how to pair met or where they could possibly know each other from.

It is understood that the photo was taken by a Roberts right-hand man under the name of Jamal, which our investigators have failed to track down. The photo has been tracked to have been taken in Southampton, with Knowles supposedly taking a drive down to the coast according to hotel staff working at his residence before he began renting a house in Eastleigh.

Roberts has been said to be behind various illegal schemes, yet police departments in the London area have not been able to gather any evidence of Roberts' involvement with numerous murders and assaults all across the south of Britain, from Dover all the way to Norfolk.

The most high-profile case allegedly involving Roberts was a double homicide in Lambeth, South London where a father walking his son home from school were both murdered in a hit-and-run incident which took two years for an arrest to be made, which wasn't Derrick Roberts, instead a man linked to his gang by the name of Paul Geary.

This could potentially be huge news for Eastleigh in one of their most successful seasons to date. Our exclusive findings regarding Liam Knowles could issue a police investigation into the popular Eastleigh manager as the authorities use whatever methods possible to gather more knowledge on Derrick Roberts in the hope of eventually trialing the 23-year-old.

The Daily Mail have asked Eastleigh and it's chairman for a comment on the situation regarding Knowles but both have refused.
Oh shit, need a pr person to help you out?
uh-oh, this could be trouble!
Oh no! Let's hope Liam explains himself! Unfortunately, the media will probably dismiss it as a lie without thinking!
Jeeeeeeez this could be going south very quickly. Let's hope he can pull himself out of this mess and continue the good results on the pitch.
MJK: I don't know, I think the issues lay a little deeper on this one! Plus, PR managers are expensive ;)

Infra: Could well be!

Bananaz: Yeah, usually the case with the media, once the devil, always he devil!

Scott: It's come at such a bad point in the season in that we are doing so well at the moment!

We finish off the year of 2016 in a healthy position, however a few more bad results for us could potentially erase any mental possibility that we can win the league. That said, the board expect me to reach the Play-Offs at least which I am currently on course to do.

The news about Derrick Roberts and his drug gang is still awaiting comment from myself and a response should be coming around this month. We are heading into the January transfer window, and I am looking to bolster the centre midfield position in the team.

In cup competitions, we were eliminated from the FA Cup at the hands of Bury at Gigg Lane in the first fixture of the month. We began our FA Trophy adventure this month with a 3-0 victory over Maidstone United. We are set to play Southport in the Second Round in January.

The Vanarama National League table has us positioned in 4th going into the New Year. The loss to lowly Forest Green Rovers set us back a lot in our hunt for automatic promotion. With four points from the available nine in December, we are eight points behind 2nd placed Boreham Wood and a whole twelve points from being level with Wrexham, who still sit top of the league.
Towards the bottom of the table, at the beginning of the second phase of the season it seems that Solihull Moors are hopelessly succumbed to relegation as they lie twelve points from safety. Guiseley, North Ferriby and Southport are all still within a fighting chance of staving relegation this season if they really grind out the results until May.

Our first defender to win the Player of the Month award this season is Réda Johnson. The former Sheffield Wednesday centre-back has been a rock for us at the back all season, but has put in some especially positive performances this month. His absence through suspension against Forest Green has been touted as a reason for the loss at Silverlake Stadium earlier in the month.

Unlucky month, although you picked up a huge win against Southport and a very solid point to Boreham Wood. Also getting some progression in that totally not pointless FA Trophy. ;)
