Fun read! Nice season start too!

It's not ideal dropping points against teams such as Chaves, but it happens unfortunately. You certainly have the quality to make up for these lost points, as demonstrated last season. A good start in Europe, typified with a dominant performance against Partizan.

After the win against Belenenses we had the big derby against Sporting ahead of us. We had lost our last two league-meetings there and hoped to change the curse.
We were the better team but that didn't help. After having a shot in the post in the 45th minute, the home team scored on a counter attack and had the lead after 45 minutes.
In the second half we kept on playing good and we got the equalizer through Milenkovic in the 80th minute. But after the kick-off Sporting needed just three passes to score again and that's how the game ended.
For the third time we lose in the league away to Sporting and for the third time it's by the exact same score, 2-1! It feels even worse this time because Sporting are in the title race and important poinst are lost here.


We are four points behind after losing the derby and we've now lost two games after just 8 games. But if there's something we should take with us from last season it's that the league table can change a lot during the season.


In the Champions League we had one of the toughest away games possible as we went to the Camp Nou to take on Barcelona. We didn't reach their level and lost by three goals to nil. They got a lucky first goal through Grimaldo as he got his own rebound to take the lead. They scored their second goal just before halftime as Messi's shot hit the post and then went in through the back of Diogo Costa. Messi finished us off in the beginning of the second half with Barcelona's third goal of the game.


We are currently second in the table far behind Barca. It will be a battle between us and Shakhtar about the second place, and next month we will play them at Dragao.
Other than that we'll play Barcelona at home and we will end the Champions League by guesting Partizan in Belgrade.


In the Portuguese Cup we rotated the team and took an easy win away at Anadia.


In the league cup we got a such an important win away at Belenenses. We are now top of the group with one game to go and one point is enough for us to go through.

Eek! A bit of a threat to your recent dominance. However, time is on your side to turn this around.

Sporting (A) seems to be your bogey fixture. A huge loss that puts you at a disadvantage to both Sporting and Benfica. Hopefully you can recover quickly. The Champions League group is wide open and a win at home to Shakhtar will be vital, although I'm confident you can do it.

Another loss in the league and this time to Estoril at home! We got an early red card on Herrera and they took the lead but we fought our way back two times but still managed to lose in the end. Even when we scored 2-2 we played very offensive and that lead to a third goal for the guests.
In the other two games we took two easy wins and Pedro scored three goals.


We are far behind Benfica and Sporting in the table but there is no need to be upset. If we keep playing our game and winning we should close in on them as they both play in Europe and will drop points.



What a month! Those were the two most crazy games in the Champions League since I took over Porto.
In the first game I were hoping for at least one point against Barcelona but that turned out to be the most amazing game I've ever played on any FM. We ran over the Catalans from the first to the last minute and everything we shot went it. Barcelona looked so lost and when I watch back on it I can't believe that we beat them by 8 goals.
In the second game we had the most important game so far as we had to take at least one point against Shakhtar to keep the second place in the group. That task wasn't hard at all and the Ukrainians looked like small kids in front of us. 6-0 was the final score and with a 14-0 goal difference in two games we secured our place in the knockout phase.


We've got a game away to Partizan left while Shakhtar will take on Barcelona at home. Our goal difference is much better than Barcelona's so a draw for them and a win for us in Belgrade (which won't be easy) would see us go top of the table.


In the fourth round of the Portuguese Cup we took on Farense and I can't say that we played brilliant but we did enough to get through to the 5th round where we will take on Santa Clara.

Wow. I don't know how to describe those results in the Champions League, especially that one against Barcelona. Truly magical. The league form is a disappointment and to lose a game in stoppage time like you did against Estoril is a kick in the teeth, but it's still early days. There will be plenty of opportunity to make up the deficit.

Making Barcelona look like.... Barcelona!

A tough start to the season domestically...in terms of Europe a lot better especially with that thumping of Barca! Hopefully you can turn that into domestic form come the second half of the season!

I'm in love. The mixture of your descriptions, graphics and success is terrific. That demolition of Barcelona, Jesus fucking Christ. Would you mind to share your tactics?

In the Round of 16 we will face Man City.

Certainly a better month, although a draw against Aves will be a difficult result to take. You have clawed back the points tally though and look to be in a much better position. A tricky tie in the Champions League against City awaits, but as you shown against Barcelona, anything is possible. Good work in cup competitions, too.

A much improved month for you going unbeaten all month! Thankfully that points difference has closed significantly and i am sure you will be top of the league come the end of the season once again! The draw against City will be a tough one, but as you said anything is possible after that huge win against Barca

I've never felt as humiliated after a game as against Benfica this month. I wouldn't have minded if the club sacked me after that result. It's a big shame to lose against Benfica and to do it by 6 goals in Dragao is UNBELIEVEABLE.
In the other games we did what we had to do but the Benfica game made this month one of the worst.


We're still in the race for the title and for the first time we are not alone with Benfica. Both Sporting and Maritimo have played good and the last four months will be interesting.


Another easy game in the cup and in the semifinal we will play Moreirense over two legs.
Benfica got knocked out this round and our chances to win the cup are huge. Sporting and Braga will face off in the other semifinal.



The final tournament of the league cup was played at Benfica's stadium in Lisbon.
In the semifinal we played Vitória Guimaraes and the game went to penalties after a very dramatic stoppage time. In the penalty shootout our young goalkeeper Diogo Costa showed off by saving three penalties.
In the final we played Benfica and after being humiliated in the league we had to play much better to get a result. We managed to get the game to penalties where we missed two of our three penalties and Benfica won the league cup.
