We had another easy month in the league and I don't know what to say really. We do our job every week and I have never had a save in FM where I have been this dominant in the league.

In the table it's easy to see that Benfica will be our only challenger for the title again.

In the Champions League we got a perfect start away in Austria. RB Salzburg were not good enough to make it hard for us. It's a very important win and in the next round we take on Real Madrid at home, who beat RB Leipzig with 3-2 in the first round.

In the league cup we put up a poor performance. We rotated the team but should still have won by more than one goal against Cove Piedade from the second division.
ScottT: Thank you. I agree that they shouldn't be in the same group but hopefully they won't make problems for me in this group stage. IRL they were in the same group in the Europa League which is kind of weird.
Aboubakar is a MONSTER! :O
Another great set of results!
Perfect start, do you dare manage to go unbeaten in the league?!

Last season, Sporting CP ended our unbeaten run by winning with 2-1 in Lisbon. This year they did the exact same, just a few months earlier.
I don't care as much about the run as I care about that we actually need as many points as possible to beat Benfica. We got a good start in Lisbon but lost the concentration after their equalizer and couldn't find a way back.
It was good to get a big win against Tondela straight after.

In the table we are still first but Benfica have two games in-hand and a better win percentage at the moment.

I'm not sure what to comment on this. We managed to beat the reigning champions Real Madrid but lost in Leipzig despite taking the lead early in the game. Against 'Los Blancos' we didn't have any problems and were actually very dominant. It's good to see that we can face any European side without problems, as we showed last season against Juventus and PSG as well.
We've got two home games next month against Salzburg and Leipzig and we need four points to advance to the next stage.

As always in the cup I rotated the team and gave the chance to many youngsters. We struggled to win and our 17-year old striker Fábio Silva had to save us with two goals in extra time. In the next round we will take on Feirense at home.

In the league cup we had an easy game at home against Leixao. We beat them by two goals to nil and in the last round we will face Maritimo at home. They have won both their games and have a better goal difference than us, meaning that everything else than a win would stop us from advancing to the semifinals.
Justice:Yes he is! I didn't like him in the beginning but as the season grew he became better and better. He has been even better this season.

ScottT: Yes, it was a great month.

Griffo: That escalated quickly... :(
It seems Sporting could be your bogey side, given they've now ended your unbeaten run in both campaigns so far! However, some great results otherwise - in particular against Real Madrid. It's unfortunate you were unable to capitalise on that result by furthering it with a win against Leipzig, but you're still in a good position going into the reverse fixtures.
Both Red Bull sides drawn in the same group, is that even allowed?! haha
Another monster in the form of Fabio Siva, who will surely become Porto's star in the future!
A very tidy start to the season, if you can just see off Benfica early on, the title looks like its yours. Superb performance against Madrid - HUGE!

Another loss this month and my first loss at Dragao since I took over this club. After an easy win against Estoril we struggled against Marítimo and were not even close to get the three points. It's a tough loss for us considering that Benfica is in a great form and they are unlikely to drop points in the nearest future.

After 11 games we have the same amount of losses as we had in 34 games last season. Hopefully Benfica will start dropping points soon or it will be hard for us to defend the title. Once again it will be a title race between us and them.

We took on both RB teams at Dragao this month and we managed to get six points out of six to secure our place in the round of 16!
Against Leipzig we got off to a good start and despite the guests getting an early goal in the second half we managed to hold out.
Against Salzburg we played one of the most crazy games since I took over Porto. We totally outplayed them and had a confident 3-0 lead after just 28 minutes. However, Salzburg worked their way in and after a late goal in the late stages of the first half, they managed to score two more in the second half. Considering that Leipzig had the lead against Real Madrid I felt that we had to take this opportunity and win here. We pushed forward and managed to take the lead thanks to Herrera. That's how the game ended.

We are qualified to the next round but the first place is what we are looking for. Real Madrid needs to beat us by two goals to take the first place, however if we beat them and Leipzig win their game, they will be out. It's an important game for the team that have won this trophy the last four seasons, so the pressure is on them!

We are out of the cup! Beltrán sent Feirense through to the next round in extra-time. I rotated the team a lot, just like in the last game, and that's what cost us the win. My rotations combined with giving many youngsters the chance has cost us games in both the league and cup. But I feel like they need to get game time if they are going to grow as players. The biggest difference is in the goalkeeper position where we now have got the 20-year old Diogo Costa instead of Iker Casillas.
One part of me is happy that we are out of the cup because we need to get more time to rest between the league and Champions League, but it's also important for us to win titles. To make it better, or worse, both Benfica and Braga were knocked out in the 4th round as well.

ScottT: I agree!

Griffo: They were in the same Europa League group in real life. In my save RB Salzburg beat them with 5-1 in Leipzig which is a little bit strange.. :D

Justice: Hopefully!

Jack: It will be tough against Benfica. The Real Madrid win was clutch!
Some extremely surprising results there, but a huge positive to take away is that you have secured qualification from your Champions League group. Benfica seem to be giving you a tough ride in the league this year.

An unbeaten month but we drop two more points at home against Moreirense. The crazy month started against Chaves. We were down 2-0 after just nine minutes but scored two goals in three minutes to make it 2-2. In the second half Aboubakar secured his hattrick with two more goals and when we thought everything was over, they scored 3-4. We answered that directly but they still got one back and the last minutes were intense.
The second game were played on a Wednesday night and we rotated the team, therefore we couldn't get the win. Against Braga, Belenenses and Feirense we won without any problems.

We are tied with Benfica with two more games played. 40 points from 16 games is not a bad record but it's not enough to beat Benfica at the moment.

We went to Madrid to secure the first place and what a way to do it! We outscored the reigning champions and they weren't even close. In order to finish at the top of the group, Los Blancos had to beat us by two goals. We got the lead just before halftime and at that moment I felt that they had no chance. In the second half we got a penalty straight away an Aboubakar scored it.
Leipzig were down 3-0 in Salzburg at that moment meaning that Real Madrid were through to the round of 16 anyway. They got one back by Asensio but Marega scored just a minute later. Aboubakar secured his hattrick in the 81st minute and we managed to beat Real by three goals in Madrid!

As earlier mentioned, RB Salzburg did beat Leipzig with 3-0 to send them out of Europe. If Leipzig would have won their last game they would have taken the second spot in the group. We improved our Champions League record from last year by taking five more points this time.

In the Round of 16 we will take on Borussia Dortmund. It won't be easy for sure but we got a lot easier draw than Real Madrid who will face Manchester City. I think that we have chances to beat BvB considering that we managed to beat Real Madrid and were close to beat Juventus and PSG last season.

After being knocked-out from the Portuguese Cup I felt that we have to win the league-cup. Before the last group stage game everything was clear, we had to win to get through. We took on Marítimo who beat us on Dragao earlier this season and at halftime we were down by 1 goal.
Things didn't look good at all but with some substitutes made and an offensive tactic we managed to turn the result around and beat Marítimo in the end!
In the semifinal we'll face SL Benfica which means that we will play two derbies against them in just 10 days. The other semifinal will be played between Vitória SC and Belenenses. All the games will be played at a neutral stadium in Braga.
A strange month to say the least with some of those scorelines! Disappointing to see some points dropped in the league, however I'm confident Benfica will stumble at some point for you to take advantage. A great win against Madrid continues to show your quality in Europe and a tie against Dortmund is difficult, but a winnable tie. Best of luck!
Winning 4-1 at the Bernabeu has to be the greatest result in Porto's history, surely!
Reading through, the graphics are amazingly done and highly impressive! Looks to be an interesting season. Europe is going very well and that win against Madrid, as Justice said, must be one for the history books for Porto! The league is seemingly throwing up some strange results capped by the 4-5 against Chaves!
