Very unlucky against Dortmund with the red card and very late goal. But even a top 5 finish is a great effort this season and will show how much progress you have made over the last season.

European Football Awaits 1860 Munich

1860 Munich players celebrate with manager Daniel Bierofka after securing European qualification

• 1860 Munich will play European football for the first time since the 2000-01 UEFA Cup
• The remaining Bundesliga fixtures see 1860 Munich face Mainz 05 and SC Freiburg
• The 2022/23 UEFA Europa League final will see Real Madrid face VfB Stuttgart

Starting the season as relegation favourites, 1860 Munich have proved all the critics wrong throughout the season leading to them sealing a place in the UEFA Europa League after defeating Eintracht Frankfurt in front of a sold-out home crowd.

In the 35th minute, Musa Barrow played a through ball to Lisandru Tramoni to allow him to place the ball past Eintracht Frankfurt goalkeeper Kevin Trapp much to the delight of their adoring home fans. 1860 Munich would keep a clean sheet for the rest of the match to seal a 1-0 victory.

“I am so proud of the efforts of the squad, they have worked extremely hard and deserve this fantastic achievement.” said 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka. “The fans have offered incredible support to the players throughout my time at the club, I am thrilled to see them celebrate and enjoy this moment.” he added.

1860 Munich could still mathematically could earn a place in the UEFA Champions League but this looks to be very unlikely after the loss to Borussia Dortmund at the end of April. Fans of Die Löwen will now begin saving to travel across Europe in support of their club next season.

Eoin97 & OneMoreGame: My goal of European qualification has been achieved, one season earlier than I expected

J_ames & TheLFCFan: The Dortmund result was heartbreaking but you can't have everything go your way

tedbro20: A bit early to be thinking of making Bayern the number two side in Munich but I really look forward to a tough battle against them each season

Jack: Still an outside chance at Champions League but more than likely Europa League next season

NTBgaming: Munich will be a good place to be if you are a football fan in Germany

Justice: Fifth would be incredible, very possible achievement also!

ScottT: Monchengladbach are a very good team currently, hoping some big non-German clubs pick up a few of their players to make my life easier
Europapokal! Exciting times at Die Löwen!
Good to see you get it at the first time of asking. Now to finish the season on a high with 2 more wins
The stuff dreams are made off! Major congratulations on European qualification! You managed to overcome a strong Frankfurt side to defy the odds, hoorah!
I vaguely remember 1860 in the UEFA Cup as Leeds played against them with Alan Smith bagging a couple of goals so I know exactly how long the 1860 fans have waited for this moment! :P
This is a wonderful sight! Congratulations on what has been a fantastic season. Take a bow, Daniel Bierofka.

Absolutely delighted for you to have qualified for Europe, the off-season transfer market is probably going to need to be your biggest yet! A lot of wheeling and dealing ahead for Daniel :D Great work man.

Player Of The Month

Lisandru Tramoni

Continuing his return to form, the 20-year-old French winger proved the difference by scoring in the match against Eintracht Frankfurt which saw 1860 Munich seal European qualification while also providing an assist in the final game of the season against SC Freiburg.

Transfer rumours continue to surround AS Monaco winger Amadou Traore after 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka declared interest in the 21-year-old back in March.

Zed: I am certainly excited for the upcoming season.

tedbro20: The last game of the season was disappointing but I chose to play a lot of players who have served me for a long time and won't be returning next season.

Justice & ScottT: Thank you for the congratulations gentleman

Jack: As a six month long fan of 1860 Munich I can tell you it has been a long wait haha!

J_ames: Absolutely love the Daniel Bryan GIF!
The improvement since last season is evident! You were so close to 4th too, it shows how much the gap has closed under your stewardship!

Great to round off the season with an unbeaten month. So close to getting 4th as well. Expecting a big transfer window now.

It's been a great season to follow. Gutted that "Borussia Mong" were unable to pip Bayern to the title though. :(
European football! Congratulations mate, very well done. Taking it to the final day to potentially get Champions League is even more encouraging. It might need a few additions with the increased games you'll be playing next year, but hopefully you can go that one step further next season!
Watch out Europe..

1860 Munich is coming
Agonising when UCL was so close! European football has set a benchmark now I believe. Interesting to see the gradual demise of Bayer 04 though!
