Bierofka Named Leading German Manager

Daniel Bierofka has beaten out Thomas Tuchel in being named the German Manager of the Year

• Bierofka guided 1860 Munich to fifth place in the Bundesliga after being predicted for relegation
• Tuchel did not win despite winning the UEFA Champions League with Paris Saint-Germain
• A leading German club is rumoured to be interested in Bierofka for next season

After being named the Bundesliga Manager of the Year last season, 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka has gone one step better after being named the German Manager of the Year for the 2022/23 season. Proving to be a good eye for talent and an exponent of attacking football, the 44-year-old continues to defy expectations season after season.

Fans and media pundits alike disagreed with the award being given to Bierofka over Thomas Tuchel who led Paris Saint-Germain to claim the UEFA Champions League with a 4-1 victory over AC Milan as well as winning the Ligue 1 title. In the past three years under the guidance of Tuchel, Paris Saint-Germain have played in three consecutive UEFA Champions League finals, winning two of them.

“I am honoured to be considered for the award, but I truly believe Thomas (Tuchel) is not only the best German manager currently but also the best overall.” said Bierofka. “His record speaks for itself and he continues to set the standard for all managers throughout the world. I hope one day to be in a position in my career to be involved in a match against him” he added.

After his incredible success with Paris Saint-Germain, Thomas Tuchel has now been recruited by Manchester City who finished fifth in the Premier League last season after claiming five consecutive Premier League titles prior as well as winning the UEFA Champions League in the 2019/20 season with Pep Guardiola moving onto manage the Spanish national team.

Justice, tedbro20, TheLFCFan & Jack: Being so close to Champions League football was heart wrenching

ScottT: Monchengladbach won the title back in 2019/20 so don't feel too sorry for them

swanny8589: And here ... we ... go!
Well deserved award, even if a Champions League winners couldn’t quite make the cut :P but that just shows the magnitude of the achievement here, great work from Bierofka. I wonder which club is interested in him and if he will go :/

More than deserved award for Bierofka, to get European football with 1860 is way more impressive than Tuchel's achievements with PSG. Big off-season ahead for you :D

Bierofka is obviously highly thought of and rightly so. The success he's had with 1860 far exceeds taking a money club to the Champions League title. It was only a matter of time.

is it possible to spend millions with the squad of the national team?

I don't think so, so Bierofka is the right choice

As much as many believe Tuchel deserved it those who hand the awards out recognized the job you have done at 1860 and you have been awarded for it. Congrats on the award.

Beer for Bierofka to celebrate this summer! A worthy winner of the accolade! It is up to you to retain that title now, however :P

Bella-Kotchap Named In Team Of The Year

21-year-old centre back Armel Bella-Kotchap has been selected the Bundesliga Team of the Year

• Bella-Kotchap arrived from VfL Bochum at the start of the 2021/22 season
• The transfer fee spent by 1860 Munich on Bella Kotchap was just €3,300,000
• The spirited defender is known for his outstanding physical attributes

1860 Munich centre back Armel Bella-Kotchap has been named in the Bundesliga Team of the Year for the 2022/23 season after performing consistently to a high standard throughout. In just his second year at the club, the 21-year-old centre back helped take the second worst defence in the league the year before to the eighth best while also contributing with six goals from set pieces across the season.

Despite having such a successful season, Bella-Kotchap is not expected to receive interest from clubs due to his release clause of €63,000,000. Should the 21-year-old continue to progress, this release clause may be considered by the leading clubs across Europe.

“After chatting with the coaching staff at the start of the season, they identified some aspects of my training that were not up to a high standard and we worked together to improve in these areas.” said Bella-Kotchap. “I am very proud of being named in the Bundesliga Team of the Year and I hope to continue to improve as a player moving forward.” he added.

“I am ecstatic for Armel, he deserves to be named in the side after an outstanding season.” said 1860 Munich manager Daniel Bierofka. “The coaching staff and I had some rather upfront conversations with him at the start of the season and to see him come out the other side as a leading player in the competition is incredible. It sets a standard at the club and shows what can occur when effort and application are implemented by a player.” he added.

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have six players named in the side, Borussia Monchengladbach have two while FC Mainz and Borussia Dortmund have one a piece.

Jack, J_ames, ScottT, Tango, TheLFCFan & Justice: I still believe Tuchel making PSG the super power of world football is far more deserving of the award regardless of resources.
Wow that's really cheap for 3.3m, I need to pay at least 60 million (2020)
Nice to see the Munich Lions getting back where they suppose to hear, kinda feel some nostalgia
It's fantastic that a player of his quality looks to be sticking around.

Time for 1860 Munich to start branding their players so that they can't leave ;) Tbf, even if you get €63,000,000 for him: the club will be in a great position still. The only hassle would be attracting a replacement that's as good [if not better] than him, so that's the only worrisome aspect of it.

Regardless: he's yours for now, and we all value loyalty!
replying your reply: you're just being modest

now, wonderkids making into the Team of the Season? that's what I play FM for
Outstanding work to qualify for the Europa League so soon!!
Just goes to prove that spending the big bucks like Bayern and Leipzig do doesn't always guarantee the best results. A super season from Armel and it's well-deserved.
As well appreciated as a bottle of ketchup!
