A tough month against some of the leagues top sides. Next month isn't going to be much easier either with a local derby then a side right above you, being the easier of the games! Going to be tough but if you can get a few results somehow, survival will be looking more likely!

A difficult month but that's understandable given the opposition on the most part. You're still doing enough to keep your heads above water for the time being and the fact you're in said position at the moment is still a great testament to how well you're performing.
Just caught up as I have been away a few days. Congrats on making the Premier League and I have faith you can stay up!
THE THING ABOUT DECEMBER by Donal Ryan- 21/22
We go into the final month of 2021 perilously above the relegation zone, and we need to start picking up some points this month to show we mean business. First up, is Norwich away.

05/12/21
The first game of the month sees us travel to arch rivals Norwich City as we look for bragging rights in the battle of East Anglia.
Norwich have a slight injury problem currently, with Antonio Marin, Kyle Walker-Peters and Jude Bellingham all either injured or doubtful for this game, 3 key misses in the pursuit of East Anglian bragging rights.
Ipswich will still be without Konstantinos Mavropanos for this match, but will be back for the Aston Villa game next week. Other than that, they have a full side to face Norwich today.
NORWICH: (4-2-3-1) Steffen, Bushiri, Mari, Zimmerman, Lewis, Leitner, Choudhury, Ward-Prowse, Stiepermann, Cantwell, Pukki. SUBS: Becerra, Willems, McLean, Callejon, Trybull, Godfrey, Drmic.
IPSWICH: (4-1-2-2-1) Iversen, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, Steiring, Mendes, Alexandropoulos, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Tue, Gouiri. SUBS: Naumov, Coyle, Yeboah, Morris, Chambers, Dobra, Antiste.
And the first bragging rights of the season goes to IPSWICH TOWN!!! What a win from our young side, beating Norwich for the first time in sooooooo long.

For Ipswich, they will have Konstantinos Mavropanos back for this game against Aston Villa, but will be without Nuno Mendes for the next few weeks.
Aston Villa may be without Jed Steer and Wesley for this game, who are both doubts with hip and groin injuries.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Iversen, Coyle, Woolfenden, Mavropanos, Vincent-Young, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Dobra, Tue, Gouiri. SUBS: Naumov, Kenlock, Yeboah, Morris, Steiring, Alexandropoulos, Antiste.

Ipswich have no Lewie Coyle for today’s game as he is suspended, whilst Mavropanos and Mendes are both doubts with minor injuries.
Everton are in excellent form going into the tie, with 5 wins in a row. However, they go into the game without Javier Montero, Seamus Coleman and Juan Foyth.
IPSWICH: (4-2-2) Naumov, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, Steiring, Kenlock, Dozzell, Fossum, McCowan, Yeboah, Gouiri, Antiste. SUBS: Iversen, Bishop, Dobra, Morris, Chambers, Judge, Thorne.

The next game sees us travel away to mid table Leicester City as we look to keep our winning run of three games going. The Carabao Cup semi final draw has been made as well, and we have been given a home tie against Arsenal first, with the return leg a week later. So, An Ipswich - Norwich final is still on the cards!
Leicester have a slight injury problem right now, but I was also surprised to see that Jamie Vardy and Ayoze Perez are currently unregistered for this season. Donyell Malen is out for the next few months with a broken foot, whilst Daniel Amartey is a doubt.
Ipswich are still without Mavropanos and Mendes for today, but will also miss Daniel Iversen who is ineligible to face his parent club.
LEICESTER: (4-1-2-2-1) Gunn, Pereira, Soyuncu, Otamendi, Justin, Ndidi, Tielemens, Hughes, Corona, Boufal, Iheanacho. SUBS: Schmeichel, Miazga, Silva, Barnes, Praet, Thomas, Deulofeu.

Too good for us on the day, our young side couldn’t handle the quality that Leicester have on offer this season.

Burnley have a slight injury crisis right now with Charlie Taylor and Soares both out injured, whilst Lewis Wing, Nemanja Gudelj and Andre Hahn are all doubts.
Ipswich have a similar issue with their squad, as Andre Dozzell, Flynn Downes and Luke Woolfenden are all suspended for today’s game.

Ipswich are blessed with every single player returning to the first team squad for this game against Leeds, and will be looking for an upset to drive them up the table.
Leeds will be looking to keep their impressive start to the season going, but will have to do so without Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips today.

Brilliant result against an excellent Leeds side, and it boosts us up the table massively as well putting a lot of points between us and the relegation zone.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Christian Tue has really stepped his game up this month, getting 2 goals and an assist in December, ending 2021 on a really good note.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A brilliant month for us, moving up to 13th in the table and further away from the relegation zone. 3 wins in the league, including over Norwich gives me a confidence boost going into January.

TheLFCFan - the games are getting tougher and tougher right now, but I’m very happy with the way we handled December in the end.
ScottT - the players are playing well above what I expected of them, but people like Gouiri, Dozzell and Downes have proven their quality so far.
MJK46 - gotta keep the faith!
Just had a read through the past couple of pages, happy to see you performing well and sitting in the middle of the table. Great cup run and some very good signings too.
The league table makes for good reading at the moment. January presents itself as an exceptionally difficult month of football given the volume of games...
THE TWO FACES OF JANUARY by Patricia Highsmith- 21/22
We go into the first month of 2022 in a very good position of 13th, 6 points above the drop zone, but with so many games coming up in January, will the transfer window be kind to Ipswich this year?

So that's the transfers for the month of January, and I am very happy with what we have been able to create for the rest of the season. I have also confirmed 2 transfers that will arrive in June. Here is a link to all the new signings details for this season.

The first game of the month sees us travel to Championship side Nottingham Forest in the 3rd round of the FA Cup, with so many fixtures this month their might be a fair amount of rotation for this tie.
Nottingham Forest have been performing admirably so far in the Championship, as they sit in 8th place. But will be without Callum Patterson and Costel Pantilimon for today’s game.
Ipswich will be with Kane Vincent-Young which could mean a debut for new signing Stefan Sepannen, plus a fair amount of rotation with the Carabao Cup coming up.
NOTTINGHAM FOREST: (4-2-3-1) Helsdown, Stephens, Worrall, Hause, Ribeiro, Silva, Fleck, Wallace, Johnson, Lolley, Woodrow. SUBS: Samba, Richardson, Broadhead, Zohore, Yates.
IPSWICH: (4-1-2-2-1) Iversen, Seppanen, Woolfenden, Steiring, Kenlock, Alexandropoulos, Bishop, Fossum, McCowan, Tue, Daramy. SUBS: Naumov, Mendes, Dobra, Gouiri, Coyle.
An expected result after rotating quite heavy for this game with the Arsenal Semi Final in mind, but good to see Daramy and Seppanen making their debuts.

January 2011 was the last time Ipswich Town reached a cup semi final (Leasing.com doesn’t count), and on that fateful month the side we challenged for a place in the final was Arsenal. We beat them 1-0 at Portman Road, before losing 3-0 at the Emirates. 11 years later, we can rewrite history. Against the same opposition.
For Ipswich, they will have Konstantinos Mavropanos unavailable for this game as he is ineligible because of his loan deal from Arsenal, but everyone else is full fit for today’s game.
Arsenal have a fully fit squad for the first leg of this tie, and will be looking for a good result to take back to the Emirates for the second leg in a few weeks.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Iversen, Seppanen, Woolfenden, Steiring, Mendes, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Dobra, Tue, Gouiri. SUBS: Naumov, Vincent-Young, Yeboah, Daramy, Kenlock, Alexandropoulos, Antiste.
ARSENAL: (4-2-3-1) Leno, Bellerin, Manolas, Lindelof, Tierney, Bentancur, Guendouzi, Pepe, Correa, Nakajima, Lacazette. SUBS: Martinez, Sokratis, Torreira, Aubameyang, Saka, Chambers, Lee Kang In.
An expected result against a very good Arsenal side, but a shame we couldn’t get a goal here as we were very much even throughout the match.

West Brom are struggling near the bottom of the table, and will be without Rayhaan Tulloch, Oliver Burke and Jonathan Leko for today’s game.
Ipswich have no Luke Woolfenden for the next 3 weeks, whilst Christian Tue has a few days left of his injury suffered against Arsenal, but have a full squad besides those three
WEST BROM: (4-2-1-2-1) Johnstone, Bustos, Ferguson, Moore, Tsimikas, Sawyers, Livermore, Harper, Kulusevski, Mula, Azmoun. SUBS: Bond, Furlong, Browne, Griffiths, Hopkins, Ajayi, Soule.

I’ll take a draw against a side scrapping for points at the bottom of the table. Two more goals for Gouiri as well takes him to double digits for the season. So happy we got him for super cheap.

The next game sees us host high flying Tottenham, as we look to get back to winning ways after 3 games without a win.
Ipswich are still without Woolfenden for this tie, but Christian Tue is back and available but this game may be too soon for Burley to call upon him.
Tottenham have made a good start to the season and find themselves in 7th place, but will be without Paulo Gazzaniga for this game with a broken wrist.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Iversen, Seppanen, Steiring, Mavropanos, Vincent-Young, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Dobra, Yeboah, Gouiri. SUBS: Naumov, Mendes, Alexandropoulos, Daramy, Kenlock, Antiste, Fossum.

Ipswich will be without Janis Antiste for this game against Manchester City, but other than that they will have a full squad to choose from for this game.
Man City will be looking to close the gap to Arsenal in 3rd, but will have to do so without Kyle Walker, Rodri and James Maddison for this game.

NAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! What an excellent victory for the tractor boys. Can’t believe we got a win over Man City, and we did so with Seppanen getting sent off. The only downside, is that Amine Gouiri suffered sprained knee ligaments and won’t be back until mid-March.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Amine Gouiri has been exceptional this month, and it will be a massive loss for us that he is our for the next 6 weeks. Daramy and Antiste will have to step up and show us how good they are.

Imagine - didn’t want to spend stupid amounts of money on players as i expected an instant relegation, but they’ve performed so well this season. Cup run was fun, shame we couldn’t get past Arsenal.
ScottT - had to rest so many players throughout January and you saw how it took its toll on players like Luke Woolfenden, Janis Antiste and Christian Tue.
A very good December followed by a tough January but that result against City is incredible. The transfers look good as well, very excited to see how Seppanen develops as he looks very talented.
A couple more wins and safety is virtually secured, I would argue. An absolutely tremendous achievement should you manage to do it. The victory against Manchester City will be remembered for some time! The new signings certainly suggest eyes have been cast towards the future of the football club, in which is always pleasing that there is a long-term vision. Gouiri's absence will certainly be felt, but the squad have the ability to finish the job in which is within sight now.

Aston Villa have a slight problem currently, with Jack Grealish and John McGinn both suspended after red cards against Arsenal, whilst Tom Heaton is out with knee issues.
For Ipswich, they will still be without Amine Gouiri and Per Magnus Steiring for this game, with Will Keane and KVY joining them on the sidelines for the next game or two. Janis Antiste has recovered from injury however, and could feature.

Absolutely decimated by a dreadful Villa side, who could barely score a goal this season let alone win. Worst performance of the season so far, but says something about how well our kids have been playing when I get annoyed at losing to a side ‘better’ than us.

The final game of the month sees us host our arch rivals Norwich City in the second East Anglian Derby of the save. We picked up a 1-0 win at Carrow Road earlier in the season, so the bragging rights are in Suffolk currently, and hopefully we can beat them again.
Ipswich still have no Amine Gouiri, but he may be back for the Manchester United game in mid March. Steiring and Vincent Young have returned to full fitness as well.
Norwich will be looking for redemption against Ipswich today, but will have to make do without Kyle Walker Peters who is suspended, but everyone else is fit.

Pride of Anglia!! Norwich thought they snatched a lucky point after being dominated all game long, but Janis Antiste steps up in Gouiri’s absence to give us a deserved win.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
With only three games played this month, no player made a stand out group of performers. I’m going to give it to Mavropanos mainly for getting that goal against Norwich that pushed us the victory, and he had a solid game against Leicester as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TABLE
3 games, 2 wins, moves us up one place to 10th. Without even realising it for the last two months, we are only a point outside the UEFA Europa Conference League Qualification place, which is absolutely mental for a club like us.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UP NEXT
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TheLFCFan - Seppanen is probably the brightest youth product we’ve had in the save, and considering we sold a kid at the start of the season for a fee rising to £13mill, he looks like he could be an immense player
ScottT - I’ve had to scratch and claw for wins this month, but I’m glad goals are coming from all over the pitch. Gouiri is a massive loss, and Daramy hasn’t exactly filled that gap yet, but hopefully he comes good by the end of the season.
Jack - Guardiola was sacked the day after my victory over Norwich, surely Burley must be tempting them?
MARCH OF THE LEMMINGS by Stewart Lee - 21/22

Wolves ended their terrible run of form with a win over West Ham in their last game, but will be without Matt Doherty, Ricardo Esgaio and Viktor Fischer for this game
Ipswich will be without Gouiri for today, whilst Kane Vincent-Young is suspended for the next two games.

The next game of the month sees us travel to Manchester United as we look to bounce back from defeat to Wolves, but it will be incredibly tough to get anything from this game.
Man United will be without Emerson for this game against Ipswich, but will have a fully fit side as they look to catch Arsenal in the hunt for 2nd place.
For Ipswich, they will still be without Amine Gouiri just because of his lack of match fitness, whilst Kane Vincent-Young is still suspended for this game. Luke McCowan is a doubt.
MAN UNITED: (4-1-2-2-1) De Gea, Dalot, Alvarez, Umtiti, Williams, Cristante, Pogba, Correa, Fernandes, Rashford, Martial. SUBS: Henderson, Maguire, Lopes, Gomes, Pizarro, Wan-Bissaka, Greenwood.

Massive. Such a key result against an incredible side. We needed something to spark something in as and a draw away against United is just that.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLAYER OF THE MONTH
With only twogames played this month (game vs Arsenal was rearranged until middle of April) no player made a massive impression. I’m going to give it to Iversen mainly for getting that clean sheet against United that pushed us to that draw, and he had a solid game against Wolves as well.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TABLE
After only two games this month, we fall down to 11th after some teams played 4. Still, It's a very impressive place for us to be right now, so I'm happy.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
YOUTH INTAKE
Nothing to really shout home about in this intake, the one decent looking player is Craig Burgess is can play all across the back 4, is quite tall and has excellent bravery as well. Hopefully he can develop over the extra few years and we can get some money for him.

That point against United secures your status in the league for another season, which was always the main objective this year. Great work! It's been a fantastic season all-in-all.
THE ENCHANTED APRIL by Elizabeth von Arnim - 21/22
Two months and 7 games left off our first season in the Premier League. We are currently 12 points above the relegation zone, so we are very close to survival which would be a miraculous achievement.

The first game of the month sees us travel to bottom of the league Crystal Palace as we look to keep the pressure on the sides above us.
Crystal Palace are in a dreadful position, sat bottom of the league with 2 wins from 31 games, and 18 points from safety. One bad result could send them down. They will be without Luka Milivojevic for this game.
Ipswich are blessed with a fully fit side for this game against Crystal Palace, and they look to secure a place in the Premier League for next season.
CRYSTAL PALACE: (4-4-2) Guaita, Matheson, Keane, Burda, Hernandez, Camarasa, Pereira, Townsend, Meyer, Soldado, Ayew,. SUBS: Hennessey, Gigot, Pjaca, Lopez, Dijks, Lacroix, Younes.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Iversen, Seppanen, Woolfenden, Mavropanos, Mendes, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Krizmanic, Tue, Gouiri. SUBS: Naumov, Vincent-Young, Dobra, Daramy, Kenlock, Yeboah, Antiste.
Excellent victory against a very poor Palace side, which is mental considering the players in their team this season. Good to see Gouiri back on the scoresheet after so long our injured, such a key player.

The next game of the month sees us host another relegation threatened side in Newcastle, as we could secure our place in the Premier League for another year with a win
Ipswich have a fully fit side for this game against Newcastle United, and will be hoping for a win that can secure their survival.
Newcastle will be desperate for a win at the wrong end of the table, but will be without Diego Laxalt today.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Iversen, Seppanen, Woolfenden, Mavropanos, Mendes, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Krizmanic, Tue, Gouiri. SUBS: Naumov, Vincent-Young, Yeboah, Daramy, Steiring, Dobra, Antiste.

Another horribly late goal to concede once again in a match we dominated. Keep struggling against sides near the bottom, should have won this game comfortably.

The third game of the month sees us host mid table Watford in the league as we look to bounce back from the draw against Newcastle.
Ipswich will once again have a fully fit side to work with for this game, and with Watford above them in the table, it could be an ideal opportunity to try and catch them up.
Watford have a slight injury crisis right now, with Craig Cathcart, Adam Masina, Erik Lamela and Luis Suarez all our injured for the game.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Iversen, Seppanen, Woolfenden, Mavropanos, Mendes, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Krizmanic, Tue, Gouiri SUBS: Naumov, Vincent-Young, Yeboah, Antiste, Steiring, Alexandropoulos, Thorne.
WATFORD: (4-4-2) Farinez, Ramsey, Wilmot, Dawson, Correia, Doucoure, Mandragon, Sarr, Ojo, Pedro, Hernandez, SUBS: Dahlberg, Palhinha, Quina, Deeney, Grimes, Hunter, Busio.
Three shots, three goals, not good enough.

The next game is against high flying Arsenal, who are the only side that could prevent Liverpool from winning the league.
Ipswich will be without Steffan Seppenan for this game, whilst Mavropanos is ineligible because he is on loan from Arsenal
Arsenal themselves have a fully fit squad to choose from as they look to hunt down Liverpool at the top of the league.
IPSWICH: (4-2-3-1) Iversen, Vincent-Young, Woolfenden, Steiring, Mendes, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Krizmanic, Tue, Gouiri. SUBS: Naumov, Kenlock, Dobra, Antiste, Chambers, Alexandropoulos, Daramy.

Another even game which we couldn’t score in. Still we are in a good position in the league so can’t complain about too much.

The final game of the month sees us travel to top of the league Liverpool as they look to secure the title and hold off the challenge of Arsenal.
Liverpool are 6 points clear of Arsenal in 2nd, but they have a game in hand so will want a win today to push that gap further. They will have to do so without Mo Salah today.
Ipswich will be without Luke Woolfenden and Steffan Seppanen for today’s game as they are both nursing injuries, as Ipswich look to solidify mid table.
LIVERPOOL: (4-2-3-1) Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, van Dijk, Varane, Robertson, Baro, Arthur, Shaqiri, Firmino, Mane, Icardi. SUBS: Grabara, Gomez, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Keita, Henderson, Brewster.
IPSWICH: (4-1-2-2-1) Iversen, Vincent-Young, Steiring, Mavropanos, Mendes, Alexandropoulos, Dozzell, Downes, McCowan, Tue, Gouiri SUBS: Naumov, Kenlock, Krizmanic, Daramy, Chambers, Yeboah, Antiste.
Another very close game against a brilliant side. Gives me confidence that we only lost 1-0 to the two best sides in the league this season.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH
Probably our best player this season by a country mile, Amine Gouiri has been so key to this incredible season so far, and he deserves his 3 goals for this month.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TABLE
2 games to go and we are still sat in mid table. Highest we can finish is 8th, lowest we can finish is 15th. Survival has been secured, and without a complete melt down, it looks like we will be finishing above Norwich this season, with two games to look forward to for next season as well against them as they have also survived.
