Very nice off-season update, it's really good to see that it seems you'll keep a hold of the likes of Goudmijn and Taabouni, who are both AZ youth products. It's always nice to see a club's own prospects stay with the club for a long time.

For sure when someone is ready from Jong AZ they will be given the preference!

2020-06-13 00:44#273975 ScottT : If that draw against Sittard could have been converted into a win, the title would have been heading to Alkmaar. That's bitterly disappointing and pretty agonising. Progression has been made on the pitch though to prompt progression off of it. That's very pleasing.

It is nice to see the board is trying to push the club forward by putting so much into the club this offseason.

We beat out several clubs in Europe to sign Arena for €12.5M with a majority of the money differed to installments. The 22-year old Arena gives us a big weapon to compliment our attack, he will rotate with Guus Til at AMC. He is a physically gifted player with very good playmaking attributes. Additionally, he will provide a much needed boost to our set pieces with his free kick ability and heading.


Filling another need, we add Marcussen fully expecting him to take over the center back role opposite of Jordan Torunarigha. The two should form the best defensive pair in the league. He does have a history of injuries but his ability is immense. We spent €6.75M to get the 23-year old Denmark international talent.

The pair of them look fantastic signings and very useful additions to push on and beat Ajax to the title this time.

Congrats on the award, well deserved after a great season. The team is certainly getting two quality players there as well. Nice business.

Continuing the AZ-tradition of signing Scandinavian players I see, very nice signings!

In a rather stunning move, England has approached Luka Elsner to manage their national team after Gareth Southgate abruptly resigned from the position. Elsner has turned down the position after claiming his desire to at least see out his contract with AZ Alkmaar but did note that his long term ambition would be to manage at the National level - not yet however. At the moment he is quite happy where he is and pleased by the ambition the club is showing after splashing money to expand the stadium and further improve facilities this summer.

Elsner has turned into a hot commodity once again. In addition to England he also turned down the offers to manage nationally for Romania and Austria. Celta Vigo was also reportedly interested in bringing Elsner into to manager their squad but Elsner declined to discuss any further the option.
