Excellent finish to the season. Will be interesting to see what you can do in the transfer window and how Serie A goes as well
Congratulations! The aim now is establishing the club in the top-flight and surviving the initial campaign.

SEASON 6 | OUR BIGGEST PRE-SEASON YET

I have actually done it! Palermo are back in Serie A, the challenge now is keeping them there, and pushing on to the next level. The board gave me a decent amount of money, and I was in a position where I had to strengthen the squad to compete at this level.

So I bought in a lot of players, and a lot of player left the club too!

One thing I wanted to do was bring back the loan players who played well for us last season.

Corti came back on loan for another year.

Pirola came back on loan for another year.

Colombo, our best player last season, came back on for another year.

Gutierrez came back on loan for another year.

We signed Goudmijn on a pre-contract from AZ Alkamar for free! He looks like a quality player, and will certainly strengthen our midfield. On my United save he is at Liverpool and valued around $70 million! So I hope he can become that good for me.

Pol Joensen also came in on a free. He looks like a quality promising winger, and will get a lot of game time this season, as we change our formation to using wingers this year.

Urso, our goal keeper from last year signs for free also! I was so happy to be able to get him when his contract expired, I imagine him to be our first choice goal keeper for many many years.

Michels came in for free also, he looked better last season when I signed his pre-contract so I was a bit disappointed about how he looks now, he probably won't play a lot this season.

Ranieri came in on loan, and will be our first choice left back as Crivello is aging.

I signed the Brazilian midfielder Paulinho on a free. He will be the ideal DM for me, and provide much needed experience in our squad.

Mason came in on loan from Brighton, he look's like a promising right back and will provide good back up.

Lucera is back on loan! The man who was with us for the first two season's is back, he provide cover for both wings and hopefully can contribute this season.

Fellaini came in on loan! The perfect 'Plan B'. I couldn't say no, he is versatile and expereicned.

Lastly, we signed Otamendi on deadline day. Another free transfer. I feel like we needed a more experienced centre back as all my centre back are quite young, and Otamendi still looks like a quality player.

Overall, we bought in a load of players, but all on loan or free-transfers!
I loaned out a lot of players too, all of them are young, but not quite good enough just yet. I am happy with the squad I have built, a good balance of old and young, with experience and decent back up all over the pitch.

Our first pre-season game was a dream, 5-1 win over Fiorentina! I know it is only pre-season but it got me excited for what could happen this season.

Our results were decent in pre-season, we were scoring a lot of goals which was a positive and I had a chance to tinker with my tactic.

I will be playing a 4-3-3 DM this season. I love the balance we have in midfield, with the young and pacey wingers. I am really happy with how the team looks, we have a lot of quality experienced players in the squad now around our young talent. I believe Otamendi, Pastore, Fellaini and Paulinho will be important players in the dressing room this season.

The board expect us to scrap for survival. You know my ambition is much greater than that.

The league prediction doesn't look in our favour, but I am quietly confident.

So we can now begin, our Serie A journey! I feel this season is so important. If I can stay up we can continue to build, that is certainly the goal this season.
I will provide more detailed updates now I have made it to Serie A, as it should be more interesting, playing better teams, and seeing how our players can compete at the highest level in Italy.

As always, thanks for reading!
Some really decent signing there. All prepared for the season ahead and a very promising result against Fiorentina in pre-season.

Thrilled Brescia are still up, can you show me their squad?
Thanks ScottT!

Some excellent transfers there. Good luck for the season ahead

Terrific signings, a mixture of youth and experienced players, a thing every club needs to stay in the Serie A!

Glad to catchup with this.

Congratulations on the promotion to the top, having struggled in Serie B the first time round you have done incredibly well to bounce back and clinch not just promotion but the title. This season is going to be tough but the signings look good so hopefully you can maintain your place in Serie A. Good luck!
A lot of very experienced heads being brought in there for the Serie A season. All the best going into the campaign!
SEASON 6 | THE SERIE A DREAM IS NOW REALITY

Hey guys, I want to start off this update by saying a huge thank you to everyone who is following and commenting on my story! I have been nominated for Story of the Month and that is because of you guys!

I have always wanted to blog and share my story but never thought anyone would be interested. You guys have made a game I already love, even more enjoyable, so thank you so much!

Palermo are back in Serie A! We have worked so hard to get here, and now we have to fight to stay up. I believe if we can remain in the division this season we will be able to progress even further next year.

Our first ever game in Serie A is against Sassuolo. We have a lot of new players in the squad, so I expected it to take time for them to gel and for myself to figure out my best line up. I think on paper we have a decent looking team that should be able to avoid relegation.

Unfortunately we lost our first game 3-1. Not the best performance, and Donsah really let us down getting a red card after just 32 minutes. He was a standout player for us last season, so I won't be too hard on him for that.

Our second game in the league was against Genoa, and we gained our first Serie A win! 1-0 thanks to Schiro. A really impressive performance, especially away from home which has been a problem of ours in past seasons.

Palermo v Roma! These are the games we were excited for! To test ourselves against the best ! Roma were predicted to finish 3rd this season. They have some quality players, notably Richarlison, Kluivert and Pellegrini.

And we managed to draw with Roma 2-2! A very respectable result. Daniel Maldini with a brace.

One thing I am extremely proud with in this save is how healthy the finances are now. We gained a good bonus when we were promoted to Serie A. But I am still yet to buy a player, we have only signed players on loan and on pre-contracts. The club balance is looking great and I am to continue growing it each season. I will only spend the money we have raised when I find a world class player that can improve our team. That player is yet to come available...

When we won the league last season I also decided to bring in a lot of new staff. I hired a new and better assistant manager as well as new physio, scouts and a couple of coaches. I love the idea of hiring ex players, so I signed Kolo Toure and Matuidi as coaches, who actually have really good coaching stats!

Elsewhere in the league, Benevento won their first game of the season, with one of the craziest results I have seen on FM this year! Had to look twice when I saw the result!

Another huge game next, AC Milan at San Siro! Milan don't quite have the big stars like they use to. But they are still a massive club and will be a huge challenge...

I couldn't believe it.... we were 10 seconds away from a 0-0 draw, and we conceded right at the death. Gutted...

Our worst result of the season, a 4-0 defeat to Lazio. Lazio are top of the league and playing well, but it was a bit of a reality check for the lads.

We played Napoli and beat them at home! Our best result this season! 4 different goal scorers, and we had slightly more possession. If we can perform like this consistently we will be competing for European football in no time!

We drew with Fiorentina. A disappointing draw. We were 2-0 up and we got another red card. Discipline has been an issue this season. But at least we gained another point.

A crazy game and an amazing comeback! 2 late goals from Lucera and Gutierrez gave us the 2-1 win over Trapani, a crucial win and 3 points in the bag!

Colido hasn't had much game time this season, and put in a transfer request. I sold him to the highest bidder. Nice little profit on a player we signed for free just one season ago.

We scraped a point against Inter Milan, a 1-1 draw was a good result for us, but we picked up our 4th red card of the season! I feel like we molding into the classic Stoke City lol

A poor performance, but a 1-0 win over Brescia, this one is for you Griffo ;)

Our first time playing against Juventus in this save, a huge game! The have a quality team with a mix of experience and youth. This will be a huge challenge!

And we lost 3-0.... 2 red cards for us! My boys are losing their heads!

The Youth Intake preview this year doesn't look amazing... more full backs coming through, I already have two good full backs in the youth teams with bigger clubs trying to poach them.

So at the end of December we have had a roller-coaster ride of results in the league. Some big highs like the win over Napoli, and some poor losses like the defeats to Lazio and Juve.

We currently sit 14th in the league. A good position to be in at this stage of the season. We are quite comfortably above the relegation zone, so I am hoping just a couple more wins should almost guarantee we can stay in Serie A another season.

Our biggest concern is certainly discipline. We are having to rotate the team a lot due to suspensions and injuries and that is probably ruining our rhythm and consistency. Paulinho has been a solid player for us as our main DM, and his loan has ended now. We do have some money available to spend in Jan but their are not a lot of good player's available. So I don't think I will buy anyone this season, although you know I will be signing some player's on pre-contracts for next season ;)

I looked at the players who have contracts expiring and frustratingly their are some quality players, but they don't want to come to Palermo.. the like of Hazard, De Bruyne, Tielemans, Immobile, Icardi and Zaha are all becoming available for free at the end of their contracts!

In a few season I am hoping we have grown our reputation enough to secure players of that quality. But for now, the grind continues. Can we fight our way through the second half of the season? Or will our poor discipline come back to haunt us?

As always, thanks for reading!
Great informative update mate, probably your best one yet! You seem to be really steering Palermo to Serie A safety, and those results against the big teams like your draw with Roma and win over Napoli could be crucial come crunch time :)
