Adriano's First Signing
Filipe Luis was suspended for Adriano’s next match against Internacional. Rene came in at left back but the rest of the team remains the same that beat Atletico Mineiro. Adriano is hoping for more of the same, Pedro Rocha is given another start, and another chance to impress. Internacional’s danger man was Peruvian striker Guerrero who can be a tough player to face for any team. Adriano’s tactic was to mark him tightly and tackle him hard, giving Gustavo Henrique the challenge to man mark him during the game. After 19 minutes Rene picked up an injury and with Luis suspended, Adriano didn’t have a left back available on the bench, so he turned to Thiago Maia to fill in for the remainder of the match. There were more problems for Adriano as his other full back Rafinha was stretchered off after 35 minutes after a terrible challenge. In the 47th minute right before half time, Flamengo were awarded a penalty, but Gabigol’s penalty was saved keeping the game at 0-0 at the break. The game ended 0-0, Gabigol left frustrated as the Internacional goalkeeper Marcelo Lomba was the hero of the match.

Adriano made a move for a player he had been scouting, at he did it at the perfect time. The first signing in his managerial career was 18-year-old attacking midfielder Marco Antonio. The young prospect joined Flamengo for £1.7 million as Adriano triggered his release clause and signed him right before they were about to play his club Cruzeiro. The promising midfielder will feature sporadically this season, but with backup attacking midfielder Diego aging, Antonio could be the future attacking midfielder within the next few seasons earning a more prominent first team position.
Marco Antonio signs for Flamengo
The next league match was against Cruzeiro. New signing Marco Antonio was on the bench for the game. Left back Filipe Luis gave Flamengo the lead after the scored in the 21st minute. Flamengo lead 1-0 at half time in an even contest. In the second half Adriano subbed on Lincoln for Gabigol and the new man Antonio for De Arrascaeta. Adriano has shown faith in his younger players this season giving them ample game time. In the 69th minute Flamengo were awarded a penalty and Filipe Luis stepped up to try and score his second of the game, but he missed! Luckily for him the game ended 1-0 and Flamengo picked up another three points. Marco Antonio failed to make a real impact on the match but will likely start in the near future.
