United dominated an average Sunderland team and won 2-0. Hernández scored after just 21 seconds from a Young threw ball. Then in the 80th minute Young crossed and Cleverely slotted home the 2nd goal.

In 2nd place but only 2 points behind Liverpool but United do have two games in hand (due to the participation in the FIFA Club World Championship).

League Cup Semi Final 1st Leg – Stoke H – 15.01.14

Another crushing defeat to Stoke at the hands of United as Hernández scored three and Fletcher and Young got the others before half time. The match ended 5-0 and Stoke had Emmanuel Mayuka sent off. Next up City in the league.

Rooney -

Transfer News – I have signed a former United academy trainee, Magnus Wolff Eikrem from Vitesse on loan for 6 months. The fee was £500.000 (with the option to buy for £4.8 million) He will provide cover/support for my CM plus he is a dead ball specialist. He will wear the number 36 shirt. I am not sure if I will make the move permanent but I will see how he gets on.

A 1-1 drew but had the chance to beat city as they had Nigel de Jong sent off in the second half. The goal scores for both sides were Stevan Jovetić who put city ahead and then Javier Hernández who equalized.

FA Cup 3rd Round Replay – Stoke H – 22.01.14

A good 2-0 victory that put United into the 4th round against Aldershot, both goals were scored by Hernández. I was pleased on how Kovačić played when he came on as he played a delightful threw ball to Hernández to set up the second.

A good game for the neutral as United won 3-2. Hernández put united in the lead with a well-taken effort after 30 minutes but then Darren Bent equalized after 33 minutes. Rafael then scored a long-range effort but Villa the equalized again through Anton Putsila. However Cleverley then scored in the 80th minute after an error by the Villa goalkeeper.

Decided to rest a couple of players because I had a 5-0 victory in the first game.

Lost the game 1-0 but still went through to the final against Liverpool.

Transfer News - Adnan Januzaj has joined Leeds on loan for 3 months. I let him go out on a short-term loan because he will get good match experience plus he is playing in a higher League than when he went to Scunthorpe. Hopefully he will improve as a player.

Transfer News – So the window has now closed and the big moves came from Chelsea who signed João Moutinho from Porto for £16 million. Arsenal signed my former winger Antonio Valencia for £16.5 million. Andile Jali joined Liverpool for £13.25 million and Tottenham signed Blaise Matuidi for £4.4 million. It was Chelsea who spent the most in this window, spending a total of £26.5 million on players.

FA Cup 4th Round – Aldershot A – 01.02.14

A comfortable 1-5 victory for United. Macheda put United in the lead with a fine header after 7 minutes but then a great run and finish by Dean Hammond equalized in the 13th minute. But then United took control with two goals by Welbeck, one long-range drive by Kovačić and a lovely solo goal by Barmby.
