Champions League 1st Knockout Round Second Leg – Borussia Dortmund H – 11.03.14

4-2-3-1
David De Gea, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Nemanja Vidić, Jordi Alba, Tom Cleverley, Paul Pogba, Ashley Young, Mario Götze, Eden Hazard, Javier Hernández
Subs Used – Wayne Rooney, Mateo Kovačić

Won the game 3-2 but lost overall 4-5 on aggregate. Things did not start well when Hernández hit the post after 20 seconds, then Dortmund took the lead after 13 minutes. Then two quick goals by Hernández gave United the lead. Looking for the two further goals that would put me through a mistake at the back allowed Dortmund to score, Cleverley was also sent off for two yellow cards (harshly). Now needing to score 3 goals an error by Neven Subotić resulted in him scoring an own goal. I was very annoyed going out after the first knockout round especially as I think De Gea should have stopped at least two of the 5 goals that Dortmund scored. I wanted to start quick and score early and as soon as Hernández hit the post I knew that it would not be United’s night. On another note Barcelona were also knocked out.
