Shameless in the cold streak when Xabi Alonso turn down the Reds
Shameless made an attempt to sign back the same player that handled in a transfer request 2009. Was this a desperate move or just a genius masterplan to turn Liverpool to a Champions League winner? There are for sure no grudge against Liverpool or the current manager but the transfer history showdown have left Alonso a bad taste in the mouth.
What will happen with Alono with only 5 months left on contract is still unknown.
It has been told that several big name players have refused to start negotiation, such as Wesley Sneijder, (Inter) and Marcelo (Real Madrid). He have stated that he will turn the club into greatness but looking at the depth of the squad it is unlikely that will happen anytime soon. Young upcoming players yes, but looking at older players who are considered having their best before date passed will hardly make any bigger storm happening against top Europeans clubs. What happens if injury hits Anfield? Will the young players (yet to make names of themselves) cope with Barcelona or Milan to give you couple of examples. Hardly
One thing is for sure; Sign (try) couple of experienced players or find yourself struggling out in Europe Liverpool!
