Goalkeeper Petr Cech commits another four years to the club with a lucrative deal worth just over 20 million whilst Carl Magnay leaves the club on a free transfer. Unfortunately we could not turn round our Champions League form and have finished third in Group G, sending us the Europa League First Knockout Round where we will face Israel outfit Hapoel Tel Aviv in a two-legged confront. The Winner of that will play Lazio or Benfica in the Second Knockout Round. The FA Cup Third Round has drawn us against Middlesborough away & we face Leicester City in the League Cup Semi Final. Youngster Mbaye Niang has signed a three year professional contract with the club now that he is 17 & has started training with the first team. He made his debut, coming on in the 72nd minute against Sunderland and managed to get his name on the scoresheet twice, proving his 8 million value. His fellow youth team-mate Nathaniel Chalobah has also signed a two year contract and will be considered for first team duties aswell.

Juan Mata fell and broke his arm and is out for 5-6 weeks.

News

Yet another busy transfer window with no less than seven signings, five of which were u18s showing our intent to build for the future. Also despite experienced defender Gary Cahill's arrival, Alex signed a new four year deal with the club worth over 18 million after his performances this season. Right wingback Romario will be immediately loaned to Vitesse for the season whilst youngster Aziz Deen-Conteh will be joining Northampton on loan aswell. Fellow youngster Jacob Mellis has also won the nPower Championship Player of the Month for January whilst with Derby County on loan. We now look forward to an away replay with Wolves in the FA Cup 4th Round whilst the winner will be facing Sunderland away in the 5th Round. After our 6-0 League Cup semi-final success we have now made it to the Final at Wembley where we will face West Ham. Meanwhile Sunderland have sacked manager Steve Bruce and given the job to Mick McCarthy who has left Wolves with immediate effect. Steve Bruce has taken over his job with the Wolverhampton club in what turns out to be a straight swap for the clubs.

We are currently sitting in 7th place in the Premier League with three games in hand to the above teams so we need to catch up. Have made it into the Europa League Final where we will face french giants Paris St.Germain & the FA Cup final where we will face Manchester City at Wembley. With two big finals coming up we need to keep rotating the squad and get some better results in the Premier League. Youngster Nathan Ake made his first appearances in the first team & Jean Marie Dongou has just signed a professional contract with the club now that he is seventeen.

Arturo Vidal will be sidelined for 7-8 weeks after dislocating his shoulder in a Premier League match.
