Pre-Match Team Talk
Me: "Guys, here is the teamsheet for today:"
Me: "I've rotated the squad quite a bit. This does not mean that I do not have faith in you, I'm just resting you and using others is all. Vitesse are using a 5-3-2 formation. This will hopefully allow us to push them back deep in to their own half. Let's go and get the win"

Martin Tyler: "Out comes the two teams to the sound of the Anfield faithful singing "You'll Never Walk Alone". Let's see what Liverpool can produce today."

A Normal Day's Work
6.30 a.m.
I opened my eyes and the early morning sun was streaming through my window. My alarm was ringing six inches in front of me. "Another day doing what I love," I thought. The shower was nice and relaxing, it helped freshen me up for what would be another long day of player searching. I got changed in to my Liverpool track-suit and runners and headed out the door, careful not to wake Elaine or my two grown-up daughters, who are here visiting.
7.08 a.m.
I arrive at Melwood where two cars are parked already. "Pascoe and Carragher," I thought. The two hardest workers at this club. The former my assistant manager and the latter a Liverpool legend. I was in the building five minutes later. I said hello to Melissa, the main receptionist and I headed for my office. There was a note on my desk:
Europa League Play-off Draw
"Easy game," I thought. But I decided that I will play it safe.
7.30 a.m. - 7.50 a.m.
The entire coaching and playing staff ate breakfast in the canteen. I got a delightfully warm bowl of porridge with jam and a jug of orange juice. Myself, Pascoe and Borrell discussed tactical faults in our games against Vitesse and what we knew about Lokeren.
8.00 a.m. - 8.15 a.m.
The entire coaching and playing staff had a meeting in one of the large meeting rooms. We discussed what our training focus would be for the day, ball possession today, and motivated the players after the win two days ago.
8.30 a.m. - 9.00 a.m.
Players were on the pitch for their half an hour warm-up
9.15 a.m. - 11.15 a.m.
Players and fitness coaches went to the gym for their two hour session while me and Pascoe discussed transfer targets.
11.30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Lunch and relaxation time.
1.15 p.m. - 3.30 p.m.
Training resumed with ballwork. Players split in to four groups, one of them being 'keepers. Worked on several drills through-out this period.
4 p.m. - 5.30 p.m.
Video analysis with players and staff. Looked at previous matches, upcoming opposition and training drills.
5.30 p.m. - 6.00 p.m.
Myself and Pascoe summarised what occured in training and had a look at our next five fixtures to see what results we would expect.
