I was trying to get Leonard Kweuke on loan, but Newcastle got him on loan before the MLS international transfer window opened. That's stupid, MLS should coincide their international transfer window with Europe's.
If I can't get a good international striker on loan, I'll probably sign Blake Brettschneider again (I let his contract lapse), he was surprisingly effective for me. I'll probably start Navarre at striker and one of my youth goalkeepers and let them grow into those roles.
The past two months have been tough for teams from Boston. Two high-flying teams were arguably cut down prematurely in the playoffs. First, just now, the New England Patriots were defeated in the AFC Championship Game by the Baltimore Ravens. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick surprisingly was timid throughout the game, despite that, the Patriots were looking to win big early, but the Ravens came back and won.
Second, earlier this season, Supporters' Shield winners New England Revolution were knocked out in the MLS Conference Semifinal by D.C. United 3-2 on aggregate after extra time. Even though the Revolution were hardly expected to earn a postseason berth, especially as easily as they did, the loss still stings amongst Rev fans. Head coach Shylo Elliott said at a postgame press conference, "This loss really sucks. I thought we had a really good shot at winning the MLS Cup, but D.C. United just played their hearts out. Even so, we won the US Open Cup. We won the supporters' Shield and qualified for the North American Champions. We'll be back." Pundits are skeptical after the Revolution traded Benny Feilhaber and transferred Jerry Bengtson, and criticized the Revolution's draft, but who knows if the so far wizard Elliott has any magic left in him.
New England Revolution Signs Carlos Aranda from Zaragoza
Zaragoza has sold striker Carlos Aranda to the New England Revolution for $45,000. Aranda will be on a 1 year, $350,000 per year contract. The Revolution are looking to use him as a target man.

Yeah, it went almost as exactly as last season did, play well in the cup matches, not show up to the league matches.
I'm also going through some drama with the goalkeeper position. I have two youth goalkeepers, Oscar Noyes and Jorge Gutierrez, registered on the squad. Matt Reis was my goalkeeper last season, and was the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, but he was already 37 years old, and let too many long goals in for my liking. Oscar Noyes has a problem with being out of position, but he should outgrow that as he develops. We also have a strong defense that helps him out, although with injuries they're less dominant, but still quite good.
