March Nominations

So, another fantastic month of stories has gone by, and our judges have chosen their nominations. So, who have they picked?

Glenn T's David Beckham: From Hero To Zero
After winning the Story of the Month award for February, Glenn T was looking to retain this award with more breath taking story writing. With the new league season fast approaching, David Beckham signed Kolo Toure and Aaron Creswell on a season long loan deal and for five million pounds respectively, to strengthen his defence. Aston Villa’s early season form was not amazing and they were sitting in a mid table position by the new year. With the arrival of January signing Clint Dempsey, David Beckham’s Aston Villa began to look like contenders for a European spot. The Aston Villa resurgence looked like a team with great potential and sure enough, they finished the season in an admirable eighth position in the league. They had also been spectacular in the FA Cup, just narrowly losing to Newcastle in the semi final. With another promising season on the horizon, Beckham signed footballing legend Frank Lampard and Man Utd and Man City rejects Anders Lindegaard and Kolo Toure as well as signing Glen Johnson on loan. Aston Villa reached the Capital One Cup final where they were ever so narrowly beaten by the red giants, Manchester United. Things went from bad to worse as start striker Darren Bent was confirmed to miss the rest of the season due to an unfortunate injury. However, David Beckham and Aston Villa would not back down as they finished a thrilling season in twelfth, as well as winning the FA Cup after a 2-0 win over Preston in the final. This was what dreams are made of. Beckham was preparing for another Premier League season and he had a busy transfer window, signing world class players such as Xabi Alonso, Jose Callejon, Theo Walcott and Carlos Fierro. Glory is on the horizon for the team in claret and blue.

Jamesg237's Liverpool FC - Back To The Past
Lots has happened in this tale of Liverpool since February. James won the Club World Cup against Santos and had new players such as Toby Alderweirld and Erik Lamela, who scored at an unreal rate for Liverpool. After the win, James entered the World Hall of Fame for coaches, showing just how far he’s brought Liverpool. Liverpool continued to show it’s dominance in the league, by beating Manchester United twice in a row and then beating Chelsea straight after that. Liverpool continued it’s great form with a win over Chelsea, in which Edison Cavani starred. But the reds weren’t done winning, they pulled off a shock victory against Barca, where they went through on aggregate to face Porto, who Liverpool beat 3-2. Liverpool added to their trophy title with a huge win against Manchester United in the F.A. Cup final, where both Fabio Borini and Raphael Varane Scored. Liverpool finished their league campaign with another title, and to add to that, Liverpool wen t undefeated in league play for the second year in a row. According to James, the undefeated streak has lasted for more than 100 games, an incredible achievement. Nobody knows if James will add to his incredible year with a Champions League victory against Arsenal, but we all know that James’s managerial skills will go down in history has some of the best ever. He won Manager of the year yet again and won Manager of the Month every time this year.

PaukerJ's Gonzalez's CD Tenerife
A new story appeared on the forums this month, one of C.D. Tenerife. Raul Gonzales was introduced as new manager of Tenerife and he told the media that he wanted to challenge for the title. To do this, he made signings of veterans such as Crusat, Del Horno, Yeste, and Sarpong. After going undefeated in the preseason, Tenerife showed that they could beat the competition in the B1 division after winning each game in the month of September. Tenerife continued to win, and by the end of September, they were 5 points in front of Second place Ourese. Arvind Krishina, a well-known journalist, called Raul Gonzales a legend at Tenerife in a report, and he’s living up to his title. Tenerife cruised to a league victory and a new contract, and he announced his intention to bring Tenerife even further. To prepare for the Liga Adelante, Raul signed players like Casto, Milanovic, and the well-known Gully Do Prado. Raul told journalists that he thought the Club could make it to the Liga BBVA this season after winning the first 2 games in the Adelante. By the end of September, Tenerife were in 2nd place, just behind Deportivo. Whether Tenerife will make it to the BBVA this year is yet to be known, so keep reading and all will be revealed.

Blue's Lothar Matthaus - Forza Milan (renamed)
Lots has happened in the tale of Lothar Matheus this month. Firstly, he announced his intention of moving back to Sporting, where he achieved great success. Before that could happened though, Lothar needed to strengthen United and he did that by signing Jese, they young Real Madrid talent., and Keisuke Honda, a talented Japanese player. His singings served well against Manchester City, where United routed them 6-1 on aggregate in the Capital One Cup. The good results continued, with an important 3-1 win over Liverpool. In the football world, Manuel Pellegrini was sacked and the Milan job spot was open. After hearing that news, Lothar Matheus joined A.C. Milan, the home of El Shawrawy, who popular journalist Or. Dabool praises. Lothar started his tenure at Milan with immediate success. In his first month, A.C. Milan went undefeated and climed a spot to 5th in the table, just behind Roma. In the transfer market, Lothar mainly went for the younger wonderkids, such as Fabio Luiz and Nicholas Schmitd, both highly talented youngsters. After shocking success with Milan, Lothar Matheus almost met a shocking end, when he got into a car crash and needed to be taken to the hospital. It looked like he wouldn’t live, but Matheus had an extraordinary recovery. Almost as extraordinary as his recorvery was his results. Just after the crash, he lead Milan to crucial wins against Sevilla and Udinese, both games where Milan won by 3 goals. Milan continued to stun the football world with a win over Juventus and Spurs on aggregate. Will Milan win Serie A or the Europa League? You’ll have to read on to find out.
