Why Have I Chosen Lisbon?

Two reasons. Firstly: Lisbon are my team. I love them and want to see them succeed.

Secondly, they are really badly struggling this season. They already sacked Sa Pinto, and the new manager hasn't done much better. I want to rectify this, especially as a supporter.

Who Am I?

I am someone you probably wouldn't really expect. I have decided to become 51-year-old German legend Lothar Matthäus. No previous experience, yet tasked with making Lisbon Portuguese and European Champions.

Ah. So he did. Must have missed that. Anyway, they have Berbaflop, it doesn't count. And neither do the other six teams he managed :/
Yay, it's up :D

Vercauteren Sacked!

Experienced manager Frank Vercauteren has sensationally been sacked by the Sporting Lisbon chairman after just three weeks in the job.

Vercauteren took over from Ricardo Sa Pinto, a club icon, at the end of last season, following a poor season, finishing 4th in the league and losing in the Portuguese Cup Final to Academica.

There are several big rumours pinging around the Internet, but the most popular seems to be that Vercauteren was in a sexual relationship with the chairman’s wife, and was immediately relieved of his duties.

Lisbon will now be looking for a new manager, with the favourites being Roberto Di Matteo, Louis van Gaal, and Jorge Campos, although rumour has it that Lothar Matthaus is also interested in the job.
I wonder who will get the job, and a quick question what do you think people would be more interested in a FC Kobenhavn story or a West Ham story?
Ha! I bet that Lothar guy has no chance.

Personally I'd much rather read a Copenhagen story, as I enjoyed playing with them, although it's up to you. Also, stop copying :P

Yeah yeah, all will be revealed soon. Do you even know who Lothar Matthaus is?
I only know who Di Matteo and Van Gaal is :P
Hehe, I will probably do both but do West ham first as I am getting along very well with them!
I'd love to read the discussion between the chairman and the former manager. :P

He's Mexican, and in fact I just approached to sign him as my U19s manager.

Sporting's Shocker

Sporting Lisbon have shocked the football world by appointing Lothar Matthaus, instead of Pep Guardiola, who they were in advanced talks with.

Guardiola had flown into Portugal for contract talks with the Lisbon club, despite being on a sabbatical. Apparently he told friends he was bored and restless, and wanted a new challenge, so contacted the Sporting board about taking over.

Sporting obviously jumped at the chance to have the world’s best manager at the helm, although allegedly contract talks hit a snag when the chaiman wanted a clause which prevented Guardiola from entering into a sexual relationship with the chairman’s wife, but Guardiola deemed it “demeaning”.

So Guardiola was out of the window, and none of the other targets were willing to accept the clause. Well, all but one. Lothar Matthaus jumped at the chance to manage one of Europe’s “sleeping giants”, as he called them.

He has been given a £6.2k p/w deal until the end of the 2012-13 season.
