August Monthly Report

August has not only been the last month of the transfer window, but also the starting point of the season. Milan played two Serie A matches: the starting one in Terni, where it deserved a 2-0 win against Ternana; the second has been a 1-0 home win against Parma that has also seen Falcao’s debut with Milan’s shirt in the last 30 mins.

In the middle, Rossoneri flew to Beijing to play the Italian Supercup Final against Inter: a wonderful free kick by Balotelli and a goal by Jovetic signed the 2-0 victory that makes A.C. Milan lift his second trophy of the Gagliardo era!

August's man of the month for A.C. Milan is Mario Balotelli, who scored 2 goals and 1 assist.

Mario Balotelli (23), man of the month.

The side finished the month in the 1st position together with Juventus, Udinese and Genoa, the four team who obtained two victories in the first two matches. Worth of notice is another time Rossoneri’s defense that did not take any goal in the three matches it played.

September will mark the start of the Uefa Champions League. The draw has not been totally good with Rossoneri: Zenit, Shakthar and Real Sociedad will be their opoonents in Group F, with the former two being difficult sides to face.

August Monthly Report

August marked the start of the new adventure in Liga Adelante for Real Oviedo. A really good start if we think that the team’s expectation for the season is to stay clear for relegation from the second division. After the starting 1-0 home victory against Alcorcon scored by Leo Aro, Mr. Gagliardo’s men obtained a crazy 3-3 draw in Las Palmas, when Diego Cervero shows his wonderful goal-scoring skills with a stunning hat-trick, obtaining our election to August’s man of the month.

Diego Cervero (29), man of the month.

In the third match Oviedo lost 0-1 against Recreativo at Nuevo Carlos Tartiere, disappointing the manager: “The main reason why I am disappointed is that we did not deserve to lose if we globally look at the match. But my players devoured 2-3 clear goal situations and for a time fighting for not being relegated this is not acceptable!”

Oviedo ended the month in the 13th position.

Next month is marking the beginning of Spanish Cup for Los Carbayones, facing an away match against Mirandes, exactly 4 days before the Liga Adelante one against the same team, in the same place.

SEPTEMBER MONTHLY REPORT

September just ended and it was a good month for A.C. Milan. After a bad away draw against Catania, where the best news was the first Falcao’s goal (the first of many), we managed to obtain four victories over four matches, without taking any goal. One of those was our debut match in this season Champions League: a solid win in St. Petersburg against Zenit, maybe the most dangerous opponent of the Group.

We ended the month in the 1st place of the Serie A table with 16 points in 6 matches. Surprisingly, the 2n in the league is Udinese that follows us two points down and it is the only other team that had lost no matches.

We give our man of the month prize to Falcao: Radamel played wonderfully and scored 3 goals, one for each match he played. The same did Balotelli, but Falcao is new in Italy and this makes his scoring result wonderful.
Falcao (27), September man of the month.

A last special mention goes to Trabelsi: Tarek scored his first goal ever with A.C. Milan shirt against Torino and we hope this is only the first of many.
SEPTEMBER MONTHLY REPORT

“I’ve seen better starts and I’ve seen worst in my life: we are a team fighting for avoiding relegation, this month we have performed 10 important steps towards our objective.” These were the words pronounced by Gagliardo exiting Nuevo Carlos Tartiere after the defeat against Levante describing Oviedo’s walk in Liga Adelante till the end of September. After the 1 victory and 1 draw obtained in August, Oviedo 2 other victories and 3 defeats in September. In the middle, the wonderful game in Mirandes for the 2nd round of the Spanish Cup: a stunning performance of the players that Gagliardo sent on the pitch, despite the heavy rotation imposed by the manager, that lead to a wonderful 4-1 victory. Oviedo is going to face Sabadell in the 3rd round.

The team ended the month in a good 12th position in the ranking, 5 point over Gimnastic, the first team in the playout positions.

Man of the month for Oviedo’s fans has been elected Diego Cervero: only one goal for the Captain, but great performances even during the defeats, always the last to give up.

Diego Cervero (29), September man of the month.
STEFANO GAGLIARDO’S DIARY - OCTOBER 16, 2013

‘Why the f**k I am already awake?!? It’s 6a.m. and I have nothing to do this morning! Ok, I have a match this evening, but it is not the first in my life as a manager… Well it’s better to wake up…’ This were my first thoughts this morning while I was rolling in my bed. Then I woke up as silently as I could: I am in my hotel room in Sabadell, together with my wife, Chiara, and my daughter, Martina. I dressed up with my usual Oviedo’s tracksuit, left a message to my wife and went downstairs, in the hall, to read the newspapers. Our evening match was in the first page of the Diari de Sabadell, the local newspaper: it speaks about a tough match and I know it will be.

At 7:30 a.m. Diego came down: he is always agitated the day of the match! He was wearing shorts and the training shirt… ‘I am going for some jogging coach, I need it!’ ‘Don’t get injured man, I need you!’ He is an incredible guy: he is not in my list for the evening match, but he came with us to stay close to his mates… A real Captain!

Some minutes later arrived my wife and my daughter: they don’t come with me many times, but Chiara has a vacation day and Martina is just 5, so they joined me. We had breakfast and then a walk in the town. At 11 o’clock my mobile rang… ’Hey bro! Here is Andre! I am here in Sabadell, in front of your hotel… Where the f**k are you?’ ‘What?!? In Sabadell?!? And what the hell are you doing here?!?’ ‘I am here for your match bro, I had a rest day and I thought why not?!?’ My family and I came back to the hotel and met my brother: Andrea is A.C. Milan’s manager, our favorite team manager, I am proud of my little brother! We had lunch together and I let him know Diego and the rest of the team… At 2 o’clock he joined me on the pitch for the last training before the match: just an hour to refresh tactics and moves we should use against the home team tonight. We came back to the hotel and I left it at 7 p.m.: I had to move to the stadium together with my players. I greeted him, I kissed my wife and my daughter and start my walk together with my guys. They were calm: laughs, jokes… They are young and this is the right way to face this sport!

Estadi de la Nova Creu Alta, Sabadell.

The next two hours passed briefly: the instructions in the changing room, the warm-up, the last speech… And then we were on the pitch! I had one more reason for winning today: my bro was in the stand, together with my wife and my daughter! I could not lose! The first minutes were tough, but I could see that my team was somehow leading the match. After 18 minutes Anis (Meziani) crossed the ball from the right, Sabadells’s defense forget to mark Urko (Vera) and it was easy for a man with his great heading skills to head the ball in the corner: 1-0! The match went on, tough, with many occasions on both the sides… Some minutes before the end I decided to send Manu Busto on the pitch: it is going to be a difficult season for him, with not much space, and this is an occasion to give him some time. It had been a wonderful decision! Three minutes after he scored the second goal, taking advantage of another Anis’ cross: 2-0, we were in the 4th round!

When we came back to the changing room I thanked my players, they were wonderful and they obtained a difficult victory away! The same did Diego, who came in to congratulate with the guys. I greeted them and went out, where I found Andrea, Chiara and Martina waiting for me. My daughter run up to me and jump on my arms, kissing me and congratulating with me. My wife kissed me, my brother gave me a strong hug and said ‘Well bro, I watched your team on the TV and got impressed, now I am even more! Great victory man!’

Barcelona El Prat Airport.

We accompanied Andre to his night flight back to Milan, I greeted him and thank him for having been there: it had been so important to me! And I promised I would have gone to see one of his matches in a near future. It is strange: we love each other, but in the previous season we were too busy to go one to the match of the other…

When the flight depart, I came back to the hotel together with my wife and my daughter… Falling asleep I knew my family was proud of me! I am a really lucky man…
Nicely written mate and some good results! Like the way the brother came and visited and the way it was written!

ANDREA GAGLIARDO’S DIARY - OCTOBER 19, 2013

Ok, it has been a busy day man, but it is finished now! I am always nervous when the time of discussing contracts comes. One week ago I decided that today should have been the day then, at the end of the training session, I invited the players of the first team whose contract was going to expire at the end of the season to meet me today for discussing the renewals, and I called Filippo (Inzaghi) to tell the guys of the U20 team to meet me too. We met at 9 a.m. in my office in Milanello, they were all there with their agents, except from Massimo (Ambrosini) and Cristian (Abbiati): two days ago they told me that they had to think about that as their age is increasing and they wanted some months more to decide if they were going to continue their careers.
I decided to invite first the three of the first team: Ignazio (Abate), Luca (Antonini) and Prince (Boateng). I started from Ignazio and his agent, our talk was very fast: “Well man, you earn 3,5M€ per year now. I don’t think I can offer you more than that: what about three years more at the same wage?” I said. Ignazio’s answer was simply: “I didn’t want anything more coach. It’s perfect!” I greet them and told him his new contract would have been ready to be signed the day after in via Turati.

The next was Luca: “Hi Luca! Your age is increasing and, as you know, our idea is to have year per year contracts with over 30 players and to have not really expensive wages. You are earning 1,8M€ at this very time… What about 1,2M€ till 2015?” I proposed. Luca’s agent was not completely satisfied: “We were thinking about asking you 1,6M€ Mr. Gagliardo…” he said. I was not of the idea of going over 1,5M€, then I said “Well, maybe we can meet in the middle. What about 1,4M€?” Luca and his agent looked themselves in each other’s eyes and the former nods his head. Also the second negotiation was done, great!

Prince would have been the hardest one: his agent is not properly a quiet person. He entered together with Prince and said “Hello Mister! Our request is 5,75M€ till 2016!” What? He was earning 4,4M€! “And I am not satisfied with it, sorry. My counter proposal is 5M€ till 2017: it’s more than half a million larger than his actual wage…” “Don’t joke at us, we are speaking of a great player! No less than 5,5M€!” What a rude man! I am the manager, damn it! “He is a great player also thanks to A.C. Milan, don’t forget it! 5,25M€ is my last proposal: take it or leave!” Kevin said: “Well Mister, I perfectly know what A.C. Milan has done for me. For me it’s ok, till 2017 right?” “Right Prince, I am happy that you are more grateful than your agent. Thank you very much, you’re contract will be ready to be signed tomorrow.” I shook his hand firmly, I didn’t shake the one of his agent: I don’t like that man! And I know Prince is not going to change his mind for that guy.

Kevin-Prince Boateng (26).

The most difficult part was passed, the contracts of the young guys were easy to be agreed. I also called Fossati who is on loan at Modena: we immediately agreed for his renewal.

Then I went for the training session: this difficult phase was done, now my mind had to focus to prepare the UCL match against Shakhtar…
OCTOBER MONTHLY REPORT

October has certainly been the perfect month for A.C. Milan staff and supporters! Six the games played by the Rossoneri, and 6 the victories obtained by Gagliardo’s men. Even if the quality of the opponents was not great, it is impressive the number of goals scored in the 4 Serie A matches, 10, in contrast with the only 2 taken in the away match against Empoli, where Gagliardo used a large turn over cause of the incoming UCL match against Shakhtar.

These results let Rossoneri keep the 1st place in the league, with a 7 points lead on Napoli (with the Partenopei that have to catch up one match against Inter).

Dealing with the UCL, Milan won both the matches against Real Sociedad and Shakhtar, the last being a very impressive 3-0 away victory, and lead Group F with 9 points, 3 more than the surprising Real Sociedad.

The choice of the man of the month prize is even too easy: Radamel Falcao scored 10 goals in 6 matches, something outstanding, with two hat-tricks against Fiorentina and Palermo.

Next month will not be easy for Rossoneri: it will start with the match against the second in the league, Napoli, in San Siro and go on with two decisive UCL matches against Shakhtar and Zenit for obtaining the qualification to the next round.

Next mention goes to the market: Gagliardo took advantage of the unhappiness of Christian Trasch at Wolfsburg to purchase him from his former team for a said amount of 2.5M€, that can make the German player a real deal if his performances will be at the level Gagliardo is expecting.

Christian Trasch (26), he will join A.C. Milan next January.
OCTOBER MONTHLY REPORT

A really good month for Los Carbayones the one which is just ended, with 5 wins over 6 matches, culminated in the stunning victory against the Liga BBVA team Villarreal in the Leg 1 of the 4th round of the Copa del Rey!

Starting from the Liga Adelante, Real Oviedo obtained 3 victories and 1 defeat in 4 matches, playing wonderfully during the whole month, even during the match in which Gagliardo’s team was defeated by Almeria.

These results lead Gagliardo’s team to an incredible 4th place in the league, in the middle of the playoffs zone!

As we already said, Los Carbayones could reach the 4th round of the Spanish Cup, defeating Sabadell in the away 3rd round match, drawing Villarreal in the 4th round and defeating it 2-1 in Nuevo Carlos Tartiere, the most stunning victory of the season till now!

A view of the Nuevo Carlos Tartiere during the match against Villarreal.

Man of the month for Oviedo’s fans has been elected Juan Pablo Villalobos: the young American striker has been rewarded cause of his goal against Villarreal, his first goal ever with Oviedo’s shirt during his debut match!

Dealing with the next month, Oviedo is going to face 5 matches, the last of which will be the 2nd leg of the Spanish Cup against Villarreal, hoping that the goal taken at 92 minute of the 1st leg would not affect too much the possible win of our side…

ANDREA GAGLIARDO’S DIARY - NOVEMBER 7, 2013
It is incredible! Even terrible! The call I received this morning is a measure of how Juventus board is completely crazy! But let me start from the beginning…

Exactly 5 days ago I had a great news: after the nth bad result, Juventus board decided to sack that f***ing bas***d of Antonio Conte! I hate that man and I was crazily happy about that! According to the newspapers, Ronald Koeman the favorite for taking his place. But they were wrong!

This morning my office’s phone rang. I didn’t expect any call…

Me - “Yes?”
BM - “Mr. Gagliardo? Here is Beppe Marotta, Managing Director of Juventus. I’m sorry I am disturbing you…”

‘What the hell wants that man?’ was my first thought… I kindly replied:

Me - “No disturb Mr. Marotta. How can I help you?”
BM - “It may sound strange to you… As you probably know, some days ago our former manager, Antonio Conte, was sacked by the board. We were thinking about you as his successor. We might offer you a wage of…”

I roughly interrupted him!

Me - “What the hell are you thinking about man?!? Did you really think I could say yes to this stupid request?!? Ia am the manager of one of your greatest rivals, I have been a Milan supporter since I was born, and you think I can accept your f***ing contract?!? My answer is: you can use your contract as toilet paper to clean you’re a**!!!”

I bumped the receiver on the phone! I was livid! Are they stupid or were they joking at me?!? This is another proof of the stupidity of the Gobbi… Next month we will destroy them: this is my next objective!
Great updates there mate! Fantastic work with Oviedo you're in the hunt for promotion! And the Juventus Managing Director is a fool! Smash them when you play them haha

NOVEMBER MONTHLY REPORT

November has been an important month because it has been the one in which mathematical qualification to UCL last 16 has been reached through the two close win against Shakhtar and Zenit. The qualification was already obtained even after the victory against the former, but the one against the latter gave the definitive certainty of the first place in Group F with one match to play.

Dealing with the Serie A, the month started with the fundamental victory against Napoli, the current 2nd team in the league: the usual double by Falcao and one goal by El Shaarawy made Milan obtain a tough 3-2 home victory that allow Rossoneri enlarging their advantage over Partenopei to 10 points. The month could have been perfect due to the victories against Siena and Roma, but was partially ruined by the 1-1 away draw against Genoa, the worst performance of the team in the last 3 months.

Milan ended the month keeping the 1st place in the league, with a 14 points lead on Napoli (with the Partenopei that have to catch up two matches).

For the man of the month prize of November the supporters decide to reward M’baye Niang: the French winger scored 2 goals during the month, the last of which gave the victory to Milan against Zenit in UCL in the match that qualified the Rossoneri to the Last 16 of the competition.

M’baye Niang (18), man of the month of November.

Next month will see two really important matches for A.C. Milan’s fans before the Christmas break: the one against Juventus and the derby against Inter.
