Dortmund Express Interest In Juan
Borussia Dortmund manager Lucien Favre has admitted that he is very interested in bringing Internazionale center back Juan Jesus to Germany. The center back has been an important part of Giuseppe Bergomi's Inter set up for the last two seasons, especially since Walter Samuel retired, and will not be a cheap option.
To a reporter who asked about Juan, Favre replied, "He is a very good player, at only 23 years of age. We are always interested in bringing talented young players to Dortmund. We are working toward bringing him here, but nothing is official yet."
The center back is expected to cost around 17.5m euros, not a cheap price for a defender. Juan has been renowned for his ability to mark and tackle, as well his as his strength in aerial duels. Physically, Juan is fast and strong, and has been a very strong partner to Andrea Ranocchia for Inter. He has become a fan favorite, and it will not go down well with fans of the Nerazzurri if he is sold.
Giuseppe Bergomi responded to Favre's comments by saying, "Juan is a top player that we'd like to keep at the San Siro, but if a very good bid comes in, we would have to consider it."
A number of potential replacements for Juan have been guessed at by the media and fans, with the two most likely figures being Kurt Zouma and Giuseppe Bellusci. Bellusci is transfer listed by request at Catania, and it has been said that a price of 5m euros is all that would be necessary to pry him away from the club. He is renowned for his marking and heading, but also his determination and aggression.
Zouma is a far younger talent, only 20 years of age, but already considered the next great defender. The St. Etienne lad is a physical monster and a dominant defender known for his heading and marking, but would cost at least 25m euros. Despite being a far less economically smart option, Zouma is considering far the superior purchase.
