A Quadruple on the Cards for Inter?

Last season, Internazionale stormed to an unprecedented treble of the Serie A, the Coppa Italia, and the UEFA Europa League. Led by ex-captain and new manager Giuseppe Bergomi, the Nerazzurri swept aside every challenger, going the entire season undefeated and allowing a mere 10 league goals. This season, however, Inter are aiming to do even better.

After a disappointing loss in the Supercoppa Italia, Inter bounced right back by winning the European Supercup over reigning Champions League winners LOSC Lille. From there, Inter have again failed to lose a single game, and are currently on a record run of 70 Serie A games undefeated. They are now 3 points away from winning Serie A, in the Coppa Italia final against Palermo, and in the UEFA Champions League semifinals against Juventus.

Many people consider Palermo heavy underdogs in the Coppa, and anything other than a second straight cup win would be a disappointment for Inter. Beyond that, Inter have already avenged their Supercoppa loss to Juventus with a string of strong performances against the Bianconeri and are favorites to move on to the final. There they will have to put up another strong performance to beat out FC Barcelona or ex-suitors Manchester City.

The Nerazzurri have a chance to wrap up the Serie A tomorrow as they host city rivals AC Milan at the San Siro. The entire city is awake and ready to see either Inter win the Scudetto or the Rossoneri at least temporarily spoil the party. Giuseppe Bergomi spoke with the press today in anticipation to the match.

"This team is a team of winners. We proved it last season, and we are proving it again this season. We are so close to multiple titles, but tomorrow we focus on one title and one alone; the Scudetto. The whole team is motivated, the whole club, down to the laundry men. We want to bring another Serie A home to our fans, and we plan to do it in the biggest game to our fans tomorrow, the Derby della Madoninna."

I hope that you can win the quadruple, it would be an amazing season if you do :)

You're doing brilliant mate, I'd actually consider you favorites to win the quadrupole! :D
Cheers you two, I'd say Serie A and the Coppa are in the bag, all we need is to add the CL :D

Ray Hudsen (RH): Welcome, all, to this home of two of the giants of Italian football, the San Siro, as city rivals Internazionale and AC Milan fight it out for bragging rights and the 3 points here today. What a wonderful run this season again by Inter, 70 games unbeaten in Serie A and in contention for a quadruple, and today the Nerazzurri can seal a second straight Scudetto with a win over their hated rivals.
Phil Schoen (PS): Don’t rule out the Rossoneri, though. Despite the fact that Milan have won only 1 of their last 4 Serie A games, they are still in third and are fighting for that lucrative Champions League spot. They’ve also moved on to the Europa League semifinals and are major contenders in that trophy as well, and will be hoping to spoil the party tonight. Here are our starting lineups.

Both teams look strong, though a few names missing. For Inter, of course, Joel Obi and vice-captain Esteban Cambiasso are out due to long term injury, but a more recent blow is ex-Sampdoria midfielder Andrea Poli who will miss out through accumulation of yellow cards. The Rossoneri will miss injury prone striker Alexandre Pato and solid defender Philippe Mexes through injury, and tough tackling defensive midfielder Nigel De Jong misses out through suspension as well.
Ray Hudsen: Looks like we’re set for the kick, Inter attacking to the right and Milan to the left. Here we go, buckle your seatbelts as we are in for a cracker.

27’ PS: Here’s Romano on the ball, a good season the youngster’s been having.
RH: Oh, majesterial ball to Pereira over the top! Pirlo-esque magic!
PS: Pereira heads it back into the middle, Albiol clears, but Sissoko’s first to it and heads it back in. Ademilson comes out with the ball…
RH: GOAL TO INTER! Fantastic placed finish from the wonderkid Brazilian who sends the crowd into raptures! Halfway through the first half and Internazionale lead 1-0!
PS: Milan couldn’t deal with the ball in the box, and they paid the price. It all started with a wonderful ball from the kid, Romano, let’s not forget.

33’ RH: Here’s Gaitan, playing out on the right today for the Rossoneri. Wonderful piece of skill to get past Pereira, he’s found some space…
PS: Just wide! He had Handanovic scrambling, and the goalkeeper was not going to get there had it been on frame!
RH: He put his laces through it and just barely missed. First signs of intent to equalize from Milan.

41’ PS: Here comes Romano again, what a game he’s having, really dictating the tempo.
RH: Wonderful pass for Sissoko into space, one touch through to Coutinho! He’s on one on with Abbiati…WHAT A SAVE!
PS: Brilliant stop by Abbiati, came out and made himself big. The fleet-footed Brazilian couldn’t find a way past, and the Milan shot stopper keeps things close.

HT’ RH: We’ve reached half time at the San Siro with the Nerazzurri leading one goal to zero after a delightful goal from Ademilson. If this result holds, Bergomi and his young side will win their second straight Scudetto against their eternal rivals.

49’ PS: It’s a corner kick to be whipped in by Antonio Nocerino here. Good ball in, but the refs blown his whistle! He’s called a penalty for AC Milan!
RH: Well that’s a terrible decision! Kevin-Prince Boateng ran into Luis Muriel, and suddenly went down like he’d been shot! Bergomi is furious with the decision, and you can see a sly smile creeping into Jurgen Klopp’s face! Great chance here to equalize!
PS: Nocerino will take it. Handanovic is trying to put him off here, taking random steps to either side. Nocerino strides up…
RH: Fantastic stop from Samir Handanovic! He leaped to his left wonderfully and palmed out the penalty with a strong glove! Top class goalkeeping!

59’ PS: Christian Abbiati with a goal kick. He sends it up the field, looking for Boateng. Mohamed Sissoko wins it for Inter and nods it down to Ademilson. Quick passing here from Inter as he finds Coutinho.
RH: Sublime pass from Coutino! Muriel is through on goal here, can he score? Oh, certainly not like that he won’t! That’s a shocking finish, at least 8 yards wide of the goal that was at his mercy.
PS: Milan let off the hook big time, things still at 1-0.

90’ RH: Milan are throwing everyone forward here trying equalize late on in the game, and they’ve been caught out by this Inter counter attack!
PS: Pereira’s got the ball out wide here and he’s chipped in Muriel on the left. Abbiati comes out…
RH: Muriel’s laid it off to Raheem Sterling WHO FINISHES ON THE EMPTY NET! Two goals to zero for Internazionale, and for the second year running they are the Serie A champions! The Scudetto is mathematically going to Inter Milan!

FT’ RH: And it’s all over! The Nerazzurri fans are all over the field, the players and the coaches are ecstatic! A victory over their city rivals and the Scudetto, what more could a team ask for? It’s all over tonight, as Inter win 2-0 over Milan and wrap up the Serie A title and can now shift their focus to the Champions League.

Great win Neal! :D
Brilliant win, Neal! Keep pushing on! :D

Inter Win the Serie A

Inter Milan have won the Scudetto for the second time running after a comprehensive 2-0 win over eternal rival AC Milan yesterday. Goals from Ademilson and Raheem Sterling led the Nerazzurri to victory as well as the title. Inter have gone 28-5-0, undefeated for 71 straight games in Serie A including last season and having picked up 89 points from 33 games this season. Second place Juventus is a full 16 points back at 73, with third placed AC Milan another 13 back at 60.

Inter have endured an astounding season, having won the league with a full five games to spare. Along with this, they have failed to lose a single game and given up a measly 13 goals so far this season. Andrea Ranocchia, Juan Jesus, and youngster Ibrahima Mbaye have been inspired at the back. Yann M'Vila has also held down the defense admirably since signing.

The Nerazzurri's strike force should not be forgotten, however, with goals coming from many players. A full 5 players have scored more than 10 goals in all competitions, with Muriel the top Serie A scorer with 11 in the league. Mattia Destro and Adryan follow with 10 and 9 Serie A goals respectively.

Giuseppe Bergomi has come under heavy praise from fans and pundits alike for the consecutive title wins. His signings while also remaining financially prudent have helped Inter to no end, and his tactical ideas have led to fantastic results in all competitions. This title is Inter's second of the season after the European Supercup.

Giuseppe Bergomi was ecstatic at his post game interview, "It's a wonderful feeling, it really is. We've all worked so hard for this, to win the Scudetto for two straight years is a wonderful achievement that really shows what a force we've become in Italian football. Of course we are happy, but now we have to continue working, there are two more major trophies we want to bring home to our fans."

Congrats Neal, a wonderful achievement! :D
Another win in the Derby and the Serie A! Great story man!
