Late Sneijder Goal Gives Juve Draw Against Inter

Coming off their first leg win over Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal, Inter Milan were immediately faced with the ever so famous Derby D'Italia as they next had to travel to Turin and take on second placed Juventus.
With the title already in hand, this match was meaningless in terms of fighting for the Scudetto. However, the fans were just as invested as ever; nothing feels better than a glorious win over your hated rivals. Though perhaps the feud died down ever so slightly after Conte left for Arsenal, everybody in Italy was ready to tune into this cracker of a match.
Just 3 minutes in, the traveling Nerazzurri fans were already off of their seats celebrating. Luca Caldirola had slid the ball into Philippe Coutinho on the left and the Brazilian playmaker wasted no time in beating his man and picking out a cross. Lorenzo Insigne was the grateful recipient and the Italian striker poked him from close range to give Inter a 1-0 lead.
Halfway through the first half, Insigne nearly doubled his tally. Coutinho led the Inter counterattack down the left before finding Moussa Sissoko who quickly turned and slipped in Insigne on the right. The in-form striker's shot, however, could only manage to find side-netting, even though half the crowd thought he had scored at first.
Most of the match then went on without serious incident, but on 79 minutes ex-Inter Milan superstar Wesley Sneijder came into the match. Just three minutes later, Luca Marrone's piercing pass on the break found the Dutch attacker in space to score a simple equalizer and send the Juventus Stadium into raptures and resulting in a final score of 1-1. Respecting the club where he had achieved so much, Sneijder did not celebrate.
"I'm delighted to have scored because I helped my team get an important draw," said the Dutchman. "However, I will never celebrate against Inter. I achieved so much in Milan, and the club did so much for me. Nerazzurri will always be in my heart."
"It was a good match between two rivals, and we deserve to split the points today," said Inter manager Giuseppe Bergomi. "Wes [Sneijder] even after all these years is still a quality player and he showed it today. We won't get hung up on this result, though; our most important match of the season so far is in a few days against Bayern, and we must be ready."
