Kompany Adamant On Qualification

Belgian Captain, Vincent Kompany spoke to media today following Belgium's 2-1 victory over Wales. The center-half is currently out injured, but was ever present at the match, seated next to current coach, Mbo Mpenza, likely discussing how the club will advance over the next few seasons.

"Before the games, I was sure we would go to Brazil, but now that I've seen us win both, I am 100% confident. Those games were some of the toughest we'll face, as we have some easier matches coming up later in the year. I think we could top the qualification group and go straight to Brazil, and if not, we will certainly manage a playoff, which we'd be able to win, if we played like we should do. I know the team has let down our support in recent history by failing to qualify but I am confident we will be on a plane to Brazil in two years from now."
-Vincent Kompany

Kompany will be out with his hamstring injury for the next couple of months, but when he returns, he is expected to pull the captain's armband back on and push the team closer to the World Cup.
Great updates so far - your style of writing and presentation is second to non, keep it up! :)

Belgium's Squad For Second Round Of World Cup Qualifications

Below is the confirmed team that will be facing Scotland away and Serbia at home:

Forwards
Romelu Lukaku (West Brom), Benjamin Mokulu (Lokeren
Midfielders
Dries Mertens (PSV), Eden Hazard (Chelsea), Nacer Chadli (FC Twente), Kevin Mirallas (Everton), Marouane Fellaini (Chelsea), Radja Nainggolan (Benfica), Axel Witsel (Zenit), Bernd Thijs (AA Gent), Hannes Van Der Bruggen (AA Gent)
Defenders
Sebastien Pocognoli (Hannover), Niels Mestdagh (Cercle Brugge), Guillaume Gillet (Anderlecht), Daniel Van Buyten (FC Bayern), Nicolas Lombaerts (Zenit), Jelle Van Damme (Standard), Thomas Vermaelen (Arsenal), Bernard Malanda (Zulte Wargem), Jan Vertonghen (Tottenham)
Goalkeepers
Thibaut Courtois (At. Madrid), Kristof Van Hout (Genk), Frank Boeckx (AA Gent)

Kompany's injury continues to keep him out of the squad, and a few other injuries have removed key players such as Mousa Dembele, but in general, the squad is quite strong. Mbo Mpenza continues to give some unseen talents a chance, such as 19 year old Niels Mestdagh, who does not even have a cap for the U21s.
Good to see your young players getting a chance!
Serbia, win.

Scotland, draw with that squad, especially with no Kompany.

Although you did get 3, I do feel that you could have kept Scotland out, they're not the best of sides but never mind. :)
Not the best result against Scotland who I would have expected you to dismiss quite comfortably. Keep up the good story writing.

Mpenza has not put out a full strength side for this friendly, announcing in an interview that 'Friendlies are the perfect opportunity to give younger players a chance, as if you fail, you don't have to suffer the consequences.' These 'younger players' in question could be names like Zakaria Bakkali and Arthur Hannes. Vincent Kompany returns to action after a long time out, recuperating from a damaged hamstring.
