I second that JK, I said before something about this story was different, hope it wins the June Story of the Month! (No disrespect to k1rups)
Moyes: "We Have The Luck Of The Draw"
After finding out Brighton and Hove Albion had beaten Manchester City in a shock result in the FA Cup Semi Final, David Moyes spoke to Manchester Evening News about the draw for the final, and how he felt Manchester United had got 'the luck of the draw'. Manchester United only had to face one team battling in the top half of the Premier League in the route to the final.
First, United drew Swansea City, a side struggling in the Barclays Premier League, which would be simple for Moyes. Leicester City were drawn next, a Championship side, proving no issue for Moyes' Boys. Huddersfield Town, another Championship side, could not compete with the likes of Manchester United, leading to a draw against Arsenal. Arsenal were the toughest side Manchester United had to face, but still managed a comfortable win. Peterborough United could not defeat the Red Devils in the semi final, and now the reds have avoided a tough fixture against rivals City.
David spoke to Manchester Evening News, saying: We have certainly had the luck of the draw throughout the tournament. We were worried about the semi-final. We had alot of games to worry about, and decided to focus away from the cup, putting out a stronger side for priorities. When I found out we got Peterborough, I was very happy. We didn't have to play our strongest side, and could focus on other things [the Champions League]. However, I still wanted other trophies more, and was expecting Manchester City in the final, and I knew we wouldn't win. Nevertheless, now we have Brighton, I feel we could win both, and maybe win a treble, wait, a quadruple with the Capital One Cup.
Although they may be a weaker side, they have beaten Manchester City, meaning they can beat us. Yes, I may want the Champions League more, but I will play a strong side for this. The board wanted me to reach the final of this cup, but I want to win it. Manchester United have had tough times over the last few years in the FA Cup, it seems like the one trophy they struggle to win. I want to change that. For the players. For the club. For Sir Alex. We will win this, and the luck of the draw will help us.
David Moyes has previously stated at Everton that he prefers European competitions to domestic competitions, in which Everton faced tough times in both the Europa League and the FA Cup, before he left to join Manchester United for the 2012/13 season.
