THEY JUST KEEP COMING BACK
OSIJEK 2-4 HAJDUK - M. DUGANDŽI? ('12, '35) - T. KIŠ ('50, '73), I. DŽONI ('57), T. TOPI? ('84)
Hajduk endured a torrid time against Osijek, who are currently facing relegation took advantage of it. Marko Dugandži? scored twice within 15 minutes in the first half, and Hajduk were falling without a trace. They weren't great goals... but they were enough. Osijek looked to be getting their first win in ages.

But Bendiš wasn't having it. He had just nabbed 4 points from Pep Guardiola. He wasn't going to start losing to Osijek now... And neither was the team.

Tomi Kiš started it off in the 50th minute... before assisting the flying Ivan Džoni 7 minutes later for the equalizer. Then, not 15 minutes later, Tomi Kiš came to the ball again. Erik Janža made his 7th assist for the season, and 14 games into the season, scored his 15th goal. His 15th goal in 12 league matches...

Then, to finish it off Toni Topi? rushed up the right and smashed the ball into the back of the net, and grab their 9th win of the season. With 28 points, they are 4 points off the pace of their local rivals.

The real question is: Can Kiš break 34 goals this season. That is the current record... and if he can... well... can Hajduk keep him?
Another great update :P

YOU CAN'T BUY LOVE
PSG 1-1 HAJDUK PARC DES PRINCES ATTD.: 42 466
Zlatan Ibrahimovi? scored in the 8th minute, Goran Blaževi? saved Ibra's penalty in the 12th, before Hajduk instigated a fantastic run of play to drive PSG into the ground. It was only a matter of time before Hajduk got back on level terms, and Mirko Oremuš left everything on the pitch doing it.

It looked all PSG, as the French runner ups displayed their clear talent in the opening of the match. Javier Pastore floated a ball ahead to Zlatan, who turned on the spot, and smashed a ball into the right. But, when Erik Janža conceded a weak penalty 4 minutes later, Ibrahimovi? couldn't score again. Blaževi? threw himself as far as he could to the right, and managed to tip the ball just wide.

The save inspired Hajduk, and the Croatian champions were magnificent. Salvatore Sirigu had to pull out a number of saves... but he couldn't stop Oremuš. The right winger finally got through the middle and placed the ball into the top corner for 1-1.

But Oremuš was taken off 5 minutes later... as the winger was barged into the back by Sakho. Replaced by Ti?inovi?, the Croatians got even friskier, with Ivan Džoni and Tomi Kiš both having great chances saved by Sirigu. In fact, such was Hajduk's fervour that it was the Paris keeper who got the man of the match award at Parc des Princes

Inexplicably, Hajduk are in 2nd place after 5 matches.

"We are in a group with a lot of money... let's be honest here... Arsenal and PSG have almost very no local players. I think Arsenal have, what, max 3, 4 English players? and Paris have Ménez. Only Juventus and our club are populated by locals. But look at this? Juventus and we are level and top with 8 points. Arsenal and Paris? They're fighting at the bottom. Naturally, it can all change...

"The champions league isn't a labour of money. It's a labour of love. But we're one game from the end of this one. Money talks a lot, but maybe we get lucky on this one...

"God, I hope we get lucky"

JUVENTUS WIN, BUT DRAW IN LONDON FORCES HAJDUK THROUGH
HAJDUK 0-1 JUVENTUS; ARSENAL 2-2 PSG
Hajduk were reasonably outplayed in Split, with the Italian defending champions playing at exactly the level they were supposed to be. It's funny, Hajduk does fine when playing against a big money squad, but when faced with Juventus and their locals, they can't do anything about it.

But it didn't matter. Arsenal took the lead twice in London, which would send them to the Europa League, but the French wouldn't let Pep have it. Ramirez fighting back the first time, before Yohan Cabaye smashed a ball from the midfield to hand Ancelotti a space in the Europa League.

Hajduk's match finished a few minutes before Arsenal's, and, with PSG only needing a goal away to go through, the capacity crowd at Poljud was naturally turned to the relatively small screen at the end of the pitch... the 90th minute rolled by, and Arsenal were still defending well... even getting the occasional chance. But it wasn't enough, and it was more than enough for Hajduk. The final whistle blew in London, and Hajduk left the stadium as heroes, qualifying from the tightest group in this year Champions League.

UNITED ENDS HAJDUK'S RUN AT THEATRE OF DREAMS
HAJDUK 3-2 MANCHESTER UNITED, MANCHESTER UNITED 5-0 HAJDUK
Hajduk managed an improbable win at home, but when they walked onto Old Trafford... they couldn't hold it together.

Manchester United hasn't won a Champions League title since that fateful night in Moscow, but United saw this as their year. Neymar is the 2nd runner up for the Golden Ball, and Danny Welbeck is on some abnormal run of form under Jurgen Klopp. But it wasn't Neymar nor Welbeck who made it happen.

A second half hattrick from Wayne Rooney, 30, assisted by a fantastic Nani helped Manchester take the tie. Hajduk simply couldn't keep up with the two players, who have been a part of Manchester United for the better part of the last decade. Every single time Hajduk went for the wings, Nani inexplicably made the tackle. Fletcher hit the opening goal, giving United the away goal lead.

Even for the rest of the first half, it seemed like Hajduk would hold on. But as soon as it ended, Old Trafford became louder, and Manchester United became all the more inspiring.

4 goals later, and it was over... One of the most comprehensive defeats of any side this late in the Champions League. Bendiš wasn't happy. It happened every year. Realistically, he couldn't bring in the players that he needed for a Champions League challenge... but his youth academy just allowed 15 of the biggest idiots ever to join. And last year wasn't much better. What to do, what to do?

Until next year, then...

HAJDUK LIFT THE TROPHY IN STADIUM OF LIGHT
AC MILAN U20s 0-3 HAJDUK U19s - U19 CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

OFK BEOGRAD 0-1 HAJDUK (Ch. Cup Group C)
HAJDUK 4-4 AJAX
HAJDUK 2-1 PYUNIK
AJAX 1-2 HAJDUK
HAJDUK 1-1 OFK BEOGRAD
PYUNIK 0-3 HAJDUK

HAJDUK 5-3 DYNAMO KIEV (2nd Round)
VILLARREAL 0-8 HAJDUK (Quarterfinal)
HAJDUK 4-0 JUVENTUS (Semifinal)

Almost 4 000 people showed up, to watch how an incredible Croatian team smash AC Milan's fabled youth academy. It was, simply put, an incredible run, which saw Hajduk get to the final without losing a single match.

Without a doubt, the highlight was in Spain in the quarterfinals, where the U19s, supplemented by a few first team players, such as Josip Elež (CD), Josip Baši? (RB), Toni Topi? (AMR), and Teo Pesi? (AMC) completely dismantled Villarreal. But, far from it being a fluke, Hajduk continued, and, with a far smaller senior contingent, took out Juventus 4-0 to book a place in Sunderland.

To be honest, AC Milan never stood a chance, but it was an excellent result from a team who deserved to pick up some European silverware. In fact, with Hajduk's U19s playing in the final of the U19 Croatian Cup, and just trailing in the U19 league, it is possible that the Croatians complete the first ever recorded U19 treble.
Great win against Man U and unlucky to be blown away in Manchester. A U19's treble, now that's something you don't hear everyday :P
agree. nice win.
Super Update and some great wins for the youth academy! :D

She got up, kissed him, and went downstairs, leaving Bendiš and his best friend alone. They watched in silence as she walked down the street, smiling and waving back to them before turning down and alleyway.

Bendiš had been dating this girl since the beginning of the season. He went to school with her years ago, back when he was studying in Zagreb. And he loved her then, but nothing had ever happened. In fact, when he left Zagreb, they left very much confused about it. They were both young, and he couldn't stay, and she couldn't leave with him... they kept in touch, but it wasn't ideal.

About a year ago, she inexplicably moved to Split. The girl of his dreams had gotten a job working for the city, managing the very stadium that Bendiš managed at, week in and week out. They saw each other a lot.

Bendiš sat with his friend on the balcony... thinking. Incidentally, both of them went to the same school. They sat there, as they normally did on a Wednesday, Bendiš flicked through his letters before he paused.

"How did she get that job with the city?"

"-what?"

"How did she get that job with the city? The stadium management thing? Who was the guy before her? I don't remember who- Wait, what does she do with the stadium?"

"-Your lovely girlfriend manages all the maintenance and expansions for Poljud. In fact... she manages all construction on the stadium and it's surroundings."

"She's 26, how did she get that job"

"-I don't know. Do you think I know everything?"

"More or less... you kind of run this town"

"-Well I don't."

a few more minutes passed. *flashback*

It was September, she had been in the job for a week. Bendiš was the poor manager of the even poorer club. With one job, he was pulling just above average salary. And, sure, he had an apartment in the fashionable part of town, but that was only because it was right above his café. Still, every day, he walked her home. Bendiš wasn't great with hints... but after a week, he was walking her home, and, as the sun was setting over the riviera, he turned her around, and, finally, 6 years later, he kissed her. She gave a shy smile, and flicked her hair before walking up the stairs to her apartment.

That was the beginning of a magnificent 6 months. In January, Bendiš got a massive raise, and, every morning, he picked her up from her apartment, and walked her to work. Sometimes, in the evening, he picked her up, and sometimes, she came up to his office when he was working late, and brought him home.

Then, he got an envelope from England. Newcastle, like CSKA, was offering Bendiš an escape. A very expensive escape. He would make a fortune by moving to England, and there were no strings attached. He mulled it over that evening... the letter was delivered express, for his eyes only. This was a chance at the Premier League. He could take Newcastle, NEWCASTLE, the great St. James Park, to the top. It can't be that difficult. Mike Ashley wasn't even there anymore. He was still thinking about it the next morning, as he stopped at her front door. But, then he looked into her eyes and realized that he couldn't leave... not again.

Instead, Bendiš took his Ferrari - he had moved up from his tiny Fiat when he got the raise and splurged on Thomas Magnum's 308 GTS - and drove to Paris, with her in the next seat. They stopped and visited some friends in Zagreb, but they spent a week in Paris, a week when Bendiš had a touchline ban, and spent a glorious seven days in the City of Lights.

She moved in while Bendiš was in Sunderland, and, when he came back, Bendiš could not have been happier. At 25, he was having the time of his life.

Bendiš tossed a letter into the trash... it was Marcus Rickett's last plea to have him move to England before he said, to his best friend across the table...

"Thank you"

"-Yep mate... anytime... any time at all..."
Is something bad going to happen? :P
