HAJDUK LOSE KIŠ IN EPIC DALMATIAN DERBY
HAJDUK 9-4 ZADAR F. ANDRIJAŠEVI? ('11, '45+1, 66), M. LJUBI?I? ('17, '30, '34, '53), T. KIŠ ('37, '58)
Ivan Džoni might have just gotten himself a place in a Champions League squad when Tomislav Kiš fell hard on his arm. 35 000 people gasped as Bendiš ran onto the pitch. The Zadar players backed off as Bendiš slid by his player. The physio team, although fast, weren't even ready, as Kiš was hyperventilating in pain. But, when he finally opened his eyes, he only saw a blurry Bendiš and a million lights.

It was the 86th minute. Hajduk had just finished their comprehensive demoltion job of Zadar. It was, quite frankly, a stunning performances. 9 goals in 80 minutes. Poljud witnessed 13 goals in just over an hour, in one of the most unbelievable performances anyone in Europe had witnessed all year long. Andrijaševi? had scored a hattrick of 30 meter efforts. 3 B-E-A-UTIFUL goals from way to far out to be realistic, and that was only before Mario Ljubi?i? scored 4. In fact, Mario Ljubi?i? was on such an amazing run that it was his SECOND match in a row where he had scored FOUR.

But a match full of such jubilation and joy came to a crashing end, not in the 90th, but in the 86th. Tomislav Kiš was fighting to stay the starring name at Poljud, and was very well succeeding against Mario Ljubi?i?. But the campaign ended that night. The campaign to be the first player since Thierry Henry to win back-to-back Golden Boots ended. The campaign for Croatia's top goalscorer ended. And, for 6 to 8 weeks, he wouldn't be pulling on that number 9 shirt again.

But for that moment, all Kiš saw was that worried face of Timmy Bendiš. Not because that, in all probability, that moment, that crack in his arm, had lost Bendiš any shot in hell of the champions league. No, Bendiš stood there making sure that Kiš was ok, and tried to take the pain away from him. He couldn't, but he tried. And Kiš looked into Bendiš's eyes and said, through all the pain, "I'm sorry".

Bendiš looked right back and said, "No, no... don't be sorry. Don't worry, there's always next year."

And there is. There's always next year.
A little part of me died :'(
Tears rolled down my eyes when I read the Kis part :(

AND THEY DO IT AGAIN!!!
HAJDUK 1-0 (AGG. 2-1) FENERBAHÇE I. DŽONI
Tomi Kiš watched from the director's box with his arm in a cast while his best friends took to the pitch for what could be the last time this year.

Hajduk though... well, Hajduk were favorites. They were not against Juventus. They weren't favorites at home, and they weren't away, so when they took a 1-1 draw in the 90th minute in Istanbul, Split wanted more. They wanted Hajduk to go further, they wanted the win. And, in arguably the lowest profile match of Hajduk's Champions League season (PSV, Manchester City, AC Milan, Juventus) They wanted top 4.

In Istanbul, they certainly looked like they deserved it. Mario Ljubi?i? got the game off to a flyer in the 12th minute, before the goal was disallowed (wrongly) by the assistant referee. Michel Platini was silent after the match when Bendiš went into a rant over the officials, but it wasn't enough at that given moment. Ekici scored in the 28th minute, and Fenerbahçe held on until the half, and it looked like they would hold on for the whole match. Pero Baši?, one of Hajduk's promised sons, wasn't having it, and with the final effort of the match, he pummeled the ball into the top of the net, before he turned around and pointed at Tomi Kiš in the stands.

But then they came to Split, and it all changed. The defensive, worried Hajduk transformed into something with terrifying. They attacked with brutal precision, every attack struck fear into Djourou in the back, and Mario Ljubi?i? looked like he had scored in the beginning. But, again, it was disallowed. Džoni wanted the win though, and he took it. A player that had largely become understudy to what has become a fantastic Mario Ljubi?i?, Ivan Džoni waltzed through the box, showed the keeper the wrong way, and gave Hajduk their lead.

It was all they needed Fener couldn't come back, and with Goran Blaževi? (GK) picking up a very weak Man of the Match (7.7) Hajduk advanced to the Semifinals.

The crowd at Poljud, and in the rest of Split, went absolutely bananas. Hajduk had never been so close to the cup, but, when the Semifinal was drawn, they realized that they couldn't have been further away.

MEANWHILE...
Tomislav Kiš is predicted to return from his broken arm for the 2nd match against Real Madrid: the home match. Whether Bernabeau will prove too difficult without him remains to be seen
Jesus, Real Madrid. But I know you can do it! You're the Croatian SAF :D

HAJDUK FACE BERNABEAU AT THE BERNABEAU
It was the evening on the day before the match. Bendiš and his girlfriend were walking through the streets on a wet night in April, as Hajduk prepared to face Real Madrid, and José Mourinho. But this was not the night for football. The two had been together for nearly two years, and, recently it had become somewhat of a custom for them to go together and take a few days off for Hajduk's grand European adventures. So, while Hajduk playing against Fenerbahçe was somewhat of a break for Bendiš professionally, Fenerbahçe, as thanks for Bendiš's accommodations in Split, were more than happy to provide a stunning room on the banks of the Bosphorus.

They enjoyed Madrid as they first enjoyed Zagreb together. As it poured outside, the couple managed to get out of their room before visiting the Prado in it's mid-week deserted glory. Then, a visit to the Calle of Alcala, before going to the fountain of Neptune, before giving up on the rain and going back to the hotel.

Bendiš was remarkably less worried about the match until the next morning. She had a way of making him forget those things that worried him. But the next morning, the worrying was back. He stopped by Café Central, where he went through the mail of the morning. Unfortunately, on his computer. It was the one negative thing about traveling, he didn't get the mail in his mailbox. But it was no matter. He didn't receive email, anyway - most people wrote paper letters to him... so it was a short check. He flipped open La Marca and found the odds against Hajduk. A mere 4 to 1. 15 to 1 said Hajduk won by more than 1, and bookies weren't even taking bets on a 3-0 win for the Croatians. The odds would be ridiculous. Real Madrid were gambling at 1.15.

But that was La Marca, naturally they would be Pro-Madrid.

So, he took a look at a copy of Jutarnji List he had picked up at the train station. And he threw it away almost immediately. Hajduk beats Madrid: 5 to 1

As the match came closer, Bendiš had less and less to do. So, all dressed up, he met with his girlfriend who had some business with press in the morning. Hajduk buying back Poljud had generated quite a bit of interest, and there were a few journalists who wanted to write a grand story on the topic. There was plenty of time though

Bendiš performed at the press conference as he should. He dared not provoke Mourinho for fear of his silver tongue, but Bendiš held his cool, and was nothing but deferent to the Royal club. Mourinho saw the underdog and laughed.

But then the match started. And it quickly degenerated into something quite extraordinary. It took 13 seconds - thirteen very short seconds - for Ivan Džoni to score for Hajduk. Mourinho, who had just sat down, missed the goal, and while his assistant already had his head in his hands, and the crowd just barely registered the shock, he didn't know what happened until 30, 45 seconds in. And, boy was he furious.

Not only that, but against all odds, Ivan Džoni popped up again, in the 21st. Real Madrid very much in control, an insurgent Mario Ljubi?i? dashed up the right before knocking a lovely through ball into the center for Ivan Džoni to run around Seb Coates.

And Hajduk were more than happy to take that and run. Mourinho had torn up his notes twice by then, and the crowd back in Split were dancing like nothing would ever stop them. Mourinho had managed everything. He had managed to dominate Hajduk. In fact, such was the run with the ball that Hajduk had barely 30% of possession in the first half. They had registered only two shots. But it's what you do with those stats that count, and, in the 60th minute, Hajduk hit one more shot. Iker Casillas got to the block, denying Ivan Džoni a hattrick against Real Madrid (of all teams). But Ton?i Mujan, well, he was just too fast. The winger got to the ball first, and with the goal at his mercy pummeled it into the back of the net, prompting groans from the crowd.

0-3 for Hajduk at Santiago Bernabeau, and the second the final whistle blew, his girlfriend ran out the tunnel, and the two of them enjoyed a moment to themselves while 90 000 Spaniards filed out so quickly you'd have thought there was a bomb.

Can Hajduk hold on in Split? Perhaps, with Tomi Kiš on board, they can make it look even worse.

Well, that absolutely takes the cake. Your greatest win ever. Without Tomi Kis, too. Brilliant, brilliant win, Timmy. One more match, and Camp Nou awaits :D
Timothy Bendis the managerial LEGEND! Winning that game has to be one of the greatest accomplishments I've ever seen on FM. Hadjuk are so close now to the Champions League Final now, and I think this year might just be the year for Champions League to come to Croatia. Good Luck! :)
What a result Bendis!! The Café will be bouncing!! You will go down in Hajduk history! You did it even without Kis?! Extraordinary! If you lose 4-0 in Split a part of me will probably die. So don't lose and GO WIN THAT ELUSIVE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE!

DEFENSIVE HAJDUK TO VISIT CAMP NOU AGAINST ALL ODDS
HAJDUK 0-1 (AGG.: 3-1) REAL MADRID - C. ESCOBAR
There are 50 to 1 odds against Hajduk winning in the final against Paris Saint Germain. Fifty. To. One. There are, apparently, quite a large number of people in Split who have placed decent sized bets on precisely that happening. More out of pity and love rather than actual predictive powers.

Bendiš walked onto the pitch though, with the feeling that he might be the one to take Hajduk to the final though. And he had every right to feel that. See, Ivan Džoni, who captained the side in Madrid had inexplicably managed to score two in Tomi Kiš's abscense, and, with that, secured a famous 3-0 victory and a standing ovation at Bernabeau.

In turn, José Mourinho walked onto the pitch at Poljud for the stadium's last Champions' League match this season. He shook hands with Bendiš only out of respect. The comment in last week's press was not well taken, when Bendiš said that he had "never heard of Mourinho". Technically, it was possible... what with Bendiš doing nothing on the transfer market, but José doubted it...

The Real Madrid staff entered the pitch to a shower of boos. Not a single seat in the house was sold to the visiting fans. A rumor was going out to Madrid that a Spanish supporter of Hajduk (and almost definitely of Atletico Madrid) had bought all of the tickets from the Madrid supporters' club and sold them back to the Hajduk fans. And, with that, Mourinho saw that, even with his massively talented squad and the twice Golden Ball winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, this was going to be tough.

Bendiš walked on to pitch, with a few members of his staff, and rather than hide at the bench as quickly as possible, he reveled in the cheers from the crowd. There were a few banners in the crowd "Torcida New Zealand" one proclaimed, while there were four fans that had made it from the Falklands. Bendiš had met with the family before the match at his café, and had gotten a jersey signed by the entire team for them. Finally, there was a long banner at the end of the pitch that used to be somewhat traditional at Hajduk matches: "The staff and players come and go, but there will always be the fans". It was crossed off though, with a giant red line through the saying, and another banner below it: "The world around it changes every day, but Hajduk always remains faithful to its fans". In fact, a picture from behind Bendiš facing the fans, the sea, and the sunset was used in the popular computer game, FM 19. And, when Bendiš made his way around the athletic track to them, they cheered louder, and louder, to the point that the stands themselves were shaking.

Might be a good idea to get that fixed.

Bendiš went away from his standard tactics. This was Madrid, and he didn't need much, but there was no use being Gung-Ho about it. He quickly fielded four defenders, and then dropped Antonio Mili? and Franko Andrijaševi? back to defensive positions. This was how he planned on stopping Mourinho. And the Portuguese manager saw it, and knew that he would be hard-pressed to do something about it.

45 minutes came and went, at 0-0; the excitement could be cut with a knife in the stadium. They were one half away from the biggest match in Europe. It wasn't easy for Hajduk though. Blaževi? had made an absurd amount of saves, and the defense was doing a fantastic job keeping the Madrid players from attacking inside the box. But, Benzema finally got inside and onside to give Madrid the 1-0 lead just after the hour.

With that, the 4th official came out onto the pitch with a sign. The stands knew what was coming, and started rumbling, before the numbers lit up the night.

11 - 9
18 - 23

And with that, Tomi Kiš got up, shook Ivan Džoni and Mario Ljubi?i?'s hand and dashed onto the stadium alongside Andrija Fiorentini, while the crowd thundered all around them, and the city behind them (most of which was watching the match in the center, on the massive blow up screen by Bendiš's café)

And with that, Madrid was done. Against that sort of crowd, Mourinho couldn't do it. The final whistle blew, Mourinho shook Bendiš's hand before he was swept onto the pitch by the huge pitch invasion provoked by the final whistle. This was Hajduk's greatest moment, and to think of what state the club in when Bendiš took over in the summer of 2012? How far they have come.
2013-09-13 02:11#134734 tbendis : How far they have come.

Summed it all up :P
Can They do it??

I suppose they can...

Probably...

Maybe...
