I'm having trouble believing that you scored FIVE goals and neither Ljubičić nor Kiš scored once :O
Yeah, I had to re-read the whole thing again to believe in it :P

In Europe too... you'd think that they'd do better...

PERO BAŠI? OUT WITH BROKEN LEG AS HAJDUK COME BACK TO WIN
SPORTING 1-3 HAJDUK I. DŽONI, T. PESI?, J ELEŽ
It is widely regarded that the only reason Bendiš didn't bend over backwards to give Mijo ?aktaš a huge new contract was because he had Pero Baši?, sitting on the bench, and already gradually taking his spot. So, when ?aktaš, an icon at Hajduk, left for Italy for 10 million euros, Bendiš got an attack that was equal, if not better than before. He was no longer forced to play ?aktaš, and could bring up Ton?i Mujan from the U19s.

But then the match against Sporting came, and Bendiš lost his second player to a broken bone. Toni Topi? is just coming back from breaking his foot, but, it was 40 minutes in that Hajduk fans gasped.

A particularly strong challenge on the winger, resulted in a yellow card, but Pero Baši?, known for the fact that he always gets up, simply didn't. The 20 year old simply lied there, as the stadium in Portugal blared away. Bendiš didn't see it at first. He wasn't sure, but after three seconds past, and his winger still hadn't moved, Bendiš was on the pitch. The referee hadn't even called the physio before Bendiš had done so, and when he finally got close to Baši?, he saw why he wasn't getting up.

40 minutes of 0-0, and now this.

But the game had to go on. Baši?, one of Hajduk's best players had to come off for the lightning fast, if inconsistent, Ton?i Mujan took to the field. But, even with Mujan, Hajduk still couldn't make the difference, and Sporting even scored to take the lead in the 65th.

Then, Hajduk had enough. And it was Tomi Kiš who struck first.

The exhausted Hajduk hero had just enough energy to poke the ball through to Ivan Džoni who finally opened the account for the Croatians, before he was taken off. Then, Teo Pesi?, back from his short injury, got a beautiful header onto the ball to put it past the Portuguese keeper for 2-1 in the 75th. Finally, Teo Pesi? lobbed an amazing cross into the middle for Josip Elež to put it beyond doubt 10 minutes after they started.

It was 10 minutes of Hajduk glory, and Sporting... well they were floored.

Granted, it's going to be more difficult without Baši?. Much more difficult. But the winger can still feature in the endgame. Now, all Hajduk have to do is last that long.

GROUP B AFTER 4
1.) HNK HAJDUK SPLIT - 9
2.) OLYMPIQUE DE MARSEILLE - 7
3.) FK AUSTRIA WIEN - 4
4.) SPORTING LISBON - 3

Basic looks stunning, and he will defo be missed. However could you do a Mario Gotze or Robert Lewandowski (Both got ahead of the star players that got injured).. Good luck, and a crucial win away at Portugal :)
From the first sentence onward, I knew this update was going to be good.
Tough loss in Basic, but congrats on another win to put you top of the group!
It's time to avenge last year's blasphemy!

Well, that's what happened with Bašić in the first place. Čaktaš fell behind, and Milan came up with his release clause. I don't think Mujan will do the same. He's brilliant in the last half hour, because his pace and acceleration are huge as is... but for the whole match, it will be more difficult. We will see.
5-6 months, that is really tough. You definitely have the players to step up and do the job, though, and I hope you can get it done without the poor lad!

KIŠ ENDS GOAL DROUGHT AS HAJDUK LOSE TO SOLD OUT SUBIŠEVAC
ŠIBENIK 4-2 HAJUDK M. LJUBI?I?, T. KIŠ
Kiš had failed to score in three matches in a row, but he finally netted in Hajduk's derby against Šibenik for the equalizer.

But then, Šibenik struck lucky. Bendiš was looking the other way when it happened. But he saw the stands, he saw them rise up, and, by the time he turned around, Davor Lovrec was running towards the stands, and the ball was in the net. Goran Blaževi? looked behind himself in disbelief. Lovrec had given a routine cross that was straight at Blaževi?. The Croatian goalkeeper was there to grab the ball, but somehow, it bounced off his hands, into his head and in off the crossbar.

Bendiš, furious, threw everything forward, but couldn't get the goal, before Lovrec scored his brace, in the 85th.

14 games in, Hajduk have lost their first game of the season. Although... now with Kiš scoring again (He's still with 14 goals in 14 matches), Hajduk can look forward to some good fun.

The golden boot beckons
Hajduk losing!?!?! #BendišOut :P Good to see Kiš scoring, though!
Kis scoring is good, but Hajduk losing is bad, real bad. *grabs knees and starts to go back and forth*

BENDIŠ REVIVES KIŠ-DŽONI DUO WITH STYLE
HAJDUK 4-2 SLAVEN BELUPO T. MUJAN, I. DŽONI x2, E JANŽA (Croatian Cup QF)
ZADAR 1-5 HAJDUK I. DŽONI x2, T. MUJAN x2, T. KIŠ
SLAVEN BELUPO 3-3 (AGG. 7-5) HAJDUK E JANŽA, M. LJUBI?I?, F. ANDRIJAŠEVI? (CC QF)
Bendiš walked past his award cabinet. It's really more of a trophy room in the main hall of Poljud. It has all the trophies that Hajduk have ever won, and then features of players' individual awards.

It was, naturally, very impressive.

Bendiš spent time there every once in a while. There was a part of the wall dedicated to Hajduk's run to the final last year, and then, before that, Hajduk's series of campaigns under Bendiš were under a banner labelled "The Bendiš Era". This was a great source of personal pride for him. There was a picture when he joined the club, in the club's jersey at 15, before taking the manager's reigns at 20. He was tall, imposing, but very obviously, very young for the role. He moved on a little bit before he came across two things that he had forgotten. In the corner by the trophy for 2015 was a small blurb and a picture of Ivan Džoni. He had won the young player of the year award then. And again, in 2016. Bottom left corner, the same smiling face.

And then there was his brace against Real Madrid. No one was forgetting that?

He had scored nearly 20 goals in both seasons, before Bendiš looked over him for Ljubi?i?. There was no room in his tactic for three strikers. But Džoni never left, he never wavered. The striker worked hard every day, and was still quite good...

So, when Bendiš left the room, he formed a line-up for the Slaven Belupo match... They were all professionals, so, when Ljubi?i? saw the team list, he wasn't thrilled, but there was an extra spring in Džoni's step... all was not forgotten.

So he walked onto the pitch and gave it everything he had, and it was like turning back the clock. Džoni and Kiš, who grew together with the club, were perfect compliments of each other. It was true, Džoni was not as clinical as Ljubi?i? a striker, but Kiš played so many beautiful passes with Džoni cutting inside, that it wasn't even funny. Džoni scored twice, and then, in the epic display of selflessness that was still well remembered, he assisted once more to the marauding Ton?i Mujan.

And then, he did it again. This time, instead of Kiš being the catalyst, Ton?i Mujan assisted Džoni twice from the wing, before scoring twice on his own. And Hajduk did it again, and although Džoni failed to score, he still played amazingly.

Perhaps Džoni isn't meant for just a bit-part role. The question is, will he play more often now?

HAJDUK TOP GROUP FOR FIRST TIME IN 107 YEARS
HAJDUK 3-1 FK AUSTRIA WIEN D PETRI? (OG), I DŽONI, T KIŠ
The Austrians walked onto Poljud thinking that the match had already been won. As far as they were concerned, Vienna was still the capital of the extinct Austro-Hungarian Empire, and, as far as they were concerned, Split was their playground. ESPECIALLY after they embarrassed Hajduk in Vienna.

This time, though, Hajduk had other ideas. The group leaders rushed out of the blocks, and were constant threats on the Austrian goal. Denis Petri?, 31, was being bombarded from the very beginning of the match, but, with a string of excellent saves, he held firm, at least for a little while. Then, it happened.

Ivan Džoni, given a chance from outside the box, let a shot go. He rarely shot from outside the box, but this one was a doozy. It floated just over Petri?, and looked like it would go in, before the ball clipped the crossbar and bounced back out. Petri?, still outstretched, didn't stand a chance. The ball bounced back off his head and slowly crawled over the line giving Hajduk the lead they needed.

And they never looked back. Ivan Džoni scored a placed effort 7 minutes later to close out the half, and give Hajduk a convincing lead. But, it was the two top clubs that had the lead going into the match: OM was giving Sporting a similar beating in Lisbon, 2-0 as well.

Sporting didn't roll over though, they took the match back early in the 2nd half, with van Wolfswinkle, before grabbing the equalizer, and the final goal in the 80th, grabbing the 2nd goal. And, neither did Wien. The Austrians got a goal back in the 81st, giving them a glimmer of hope. But, then it came. Tomislav Kiš wasn't getting robbed of the top spot again, and, just to make sure, he smashed the ball in from 20 meters to grab the 3-1 win.

With that, and with OMs draw, Hajduk took an unassailable, and, frankly unprecedented 4 point lead with only one game to go, giving Bendiš a top seeded club for the first time in his career.

A single banner waved from the south stand during the match. It hurt a little bit, but it was very true, "If you won't do it for yourselves, then do it for us". And with that, Bendiš walked over to the far stand after the match, and yelled "THAT'S HOW IT'S DONE".

The crowd went absolutely bananas.
Ivan Džoni and Tommy Kiš rolling back the clock, eh? :D
