European Woe

European club competitions are the pinnacle for any manager. For most in the sport, it is the opportunity to prove they are one of the best coaches to grace the game and only true greats can lead a team to European glory. French clubs have not been as successful in Europe as the Spanish, Italian, German or English clubs and I want to change this. There have been an incredible number of managers who have led their clubs to this title – Champions of Europe and I want to be considered amongst that list.

Olympique Lyonnais have never been successful. The furthest we have reached in our long history is the semi finals back in 1963. For a club that has had the domestic success we have, our record in Europe has been less than good and I came in to this job looking to change that.

The last two seasons have seen us disposed by Manchester City and this is a real pain in the backside because the boys I have do not deserve that. The one conclusion that could be drawn from our past efforts in Europe is that we do not have the experience in the squad. With an average age that seems to be getting lower year after year (23.9, 22.9 and now 22.49) the criticism that you can’t win anything with kids could be spread around the media but the difference is we have already won 5 domestic trophies in 2 seasons. I am sure this season will be different for Olympique Lyonnais and I believe the development of these players over the last two seasons is key to our potential success!
All you need is the luck of the draw and a good performance when you need it. Then Europe is yours. I'm sure you'll come close to winning some european trophy.
Come on you...Lions? :P

Don't worry about the last two seasons, you have quality in your squad and it's just a matter of time before OL succeeds in Europe. :)
Good luck Krupesh!
TSO: A bit of luck I have had this season as you'll see :p

SFL: Haha their nickname is Les Gones (The Kids) which is pretty appropriate given the average age of my squad :p Thanks for the support

Glenn: Thanks Glenn!
Great updates mate, as always! I'm sure you're going to win a European cup soon: the team you are building is becoming stronger year by year and with a bit of luck this year can be the right one! ;)

September was a great month for us. 4 games, 4 wins and just 1 goal conceded. We top the league very early on with Montpellier fighting hard to keep up with us. The win against Real Madrid was brilliant and we were helped by the fact Rafael’s petulance got him sent off in the 1st half. That was 1 game against them down and now the rest of the games were very winnable to give us the best position possible.

Another unbeaten month and we were really playing excellently. 7 games, 5 wins and 2 draws was a great return, conceding only 3 goals in the process. The draw against Olympiacos was disappointing but having beaten Real Madrid we sat at the top of the table on 7 points after 3 games. John Ruddy deserves a special mention. At this stage in the season he has only conceded 5 goals in 15 games and has also saved every penalty taken against him so far this season, including ones taken by Ibrahimovic in the win against P$G and Ayew in the draw with Marseille. November brings 7 games that are all very winnable and our current unbeaten run is 15 (12 wins and 3 draws in all comps). An epic achievement and I expect this to carry on!
I heard 3 in the back gives up a lot of goals in FM13 but you seem to be doing great with it!

Fantastic win against Real!

eb: I was always worried about 3 at the back but the coaches kept suggesting it and I decided to go for it. The defenders at the back are amazing but we control possession pretty much every game which makes a difference too

Glenn: Thanks mate! I was surprised but in the end could have won by more!

New Kits

Entering the 3rd season with Olympique Lyonnais we needed a new kit. Having gone to my friend and former teammate back in England for the previous kits I knew there was nobody else for the job. Louis happily obliged and within 4 hours he had sent back the designs for the new kits, which I immediately got printed and produced. And with that, I present to you the Olympique Lyonnais kits for the 2014/2015 season.
Wonderful results mate, most of all the victories against Real and P$G! And the kits are great! ;)
