Champions League Semi Final Draw

An excellent month for us as we move even closer to securing the title. We stayed unbeaten in the league and conceded only 2 goals in the game against Dortmund all month. We’re also through to the semi finals of the Coupe de France, something I want to win after missing out on it last season. The CL draw has given us a match against the team that knocked us out of the Europa League and gives us a chance at getting some revenge. I feel we have a stronger team this season and I am confident we can get a result out of the tie.
Great month as usual, Lyon for the UCL!!!

With the league pretty much sealed, I'm assuming that you will concentrate on getting results in the cups?

Great month overall and excellent defensive record, I guess that fining them after the Montpellier game has worked a treat ;)

So many points clear in the league :O

Keep it up mate, the Champs League is there for the taking :D

Sit back and watch your team win the league. :)

Well done mate, wrapping up the league and ending it with the 2 cups wouldn't be a bad season I guess :P

Amazing run of form, good luck against City! And everyone seems to have Watt, what a player he is! Can't believe I've never signed him!

JL00: Thanks mate. CL will be tough!

SFL: Yep the cups are now the focus but also record points tally in the league :p Haha I had never tried fining players until this game but it works

Neal: Consistent form = big gap :p

Toon: Thanks mate very easy ride to the end in the league

Max: Haha not that bad a season :p

Rabs: Thanks mate. Some months have been average but lately we're playing well! I saw how Watt developed in another save and decided I have to buy him. I like to think I set the wheels in motion for other people buying him hahaha

Thank you guys :D There has been a lot of support with this from day 1 after my first ever story! People have commented from the beginning, some have been new members on the site and are reading too! I can only tell you all I have really enjoyed writing this and the support is pure motivation to keep going with it!

League Table

Sorry no screenshot but I can confirm we won the title by 12th April.

The win against Saint-Etienne meant we completed the “treble”, having won the Trophee des Champions at the start of the season.

A mix and match month in my honest opinion. We lost to Man City at home which was madly unbelievable after we got an away goal but there were so many players that needed a rest with matches building up that I had to just give in and play a very disjointed formation. I knew we were facing a struggle against them but I know we will come back even stronger next season, ready to fight even harder in the Champions League. We wrapped up the league very early on and it was great to retain the title and exert out dominance over the chasing pack and winning the Coupe de la Ligue was also important as we retained the cup we won last year. The loss to Monaco was disappointing but to be honest it was an irrelevant match and I had no complaints.
Tough luck against Manchester City and Monaco. Still, at least you're going strong in the league :D

Will Hughes Press Conference

Will Hughes = WH

Journalists = J

J: Good morning Will. Thanks for joining us today. You sit here having just finished your 2nd season with Lyon and have just signed a new 5 year deal with the club. 2 league titles and 2 Coupe de la Ligue wins under your belt how do you think this season compares to last?

WH: First off let me say I am delighted to have signed a new contract here with the club. The boss knows how much respect I have for him and I wanted to repay his loyalty by showing I am committed to the club. To win the league again is an amazing feeling, especially with the way the club had been performing before Remi took over. We have played a lot better this season, with the signings settling in and having a bigger role in the club. Grenier has really stepped up this season and Tony; well Tony has blown everyone away with his goalscoring record this year. Champions League football makes this season much better than last, even if we were knocked out by Man City. We will just come back stronger next season and go even further.

J: The champions league run has led to a lot of positive press and reaction from the public. The loss against Man City was tough but the money they have spent was going to make it a tough. With great performances in Europe you have attracted the interest of Chelsea. What can you tell us about that?

WH: Haha listen Chelsea are a good club but I have never been a fan of the club and I don’t take any transfer rumours to heart. I am not a fan of going back on my word and when I joined Lyon I planned to stay here for a long time. I wouldn’t have signed such a long deal if I weren’t committed to staying here.

J: What do you make of the development of manager Remi Garde over these two seasons?

WH: He’s a great man. He has just done better and better. He comes out and trains with us, makes a fool of himself and laughs it off with us. He’s an emotional and passionate guy and that is what makes him a great manager to work with. As a tactician he’s developed and got better. He sees strengths in the team and plays to them and you can see that we play well as a result. We want to go out on a high for him and for his dad. The whole squad appreciates him.

J: Some great support you have for your manager and we feel he is going to be a world class manager in just a few years. Have fun in your last few games and go out with a bang.
Will Hughes, what a beast :) He better not go to Chelsea! :P

World Cup Call-ups

10 players called up to their national teams for the World Cup is a great result after such a successful season. I am pleased to see John Ruddy, Will Hughes and Tom Ince called up, while Alexandre Lacazette, Yassine Benzia, Maxime Gonalons and Samuel Umtiti will be representing France. Some great youngsters that will be in the national teams for years to come!

This has been an exciting, emotional and incredibly fun season. We have had to cope with red cards, injuries, losses and poor form but this amazing group has fought through everything to win a domestic treble (could call it a quadruple) and we will make even more of an effort to get further in Europe next season.
You won...everything :O Great season mate
