Torino Announce Handful of Signings

Torino FC have today announced the signings of four players, along with the release of another. Joining the club are Lukas Zima, Christian Llama, Adam Vass and Rodrigo Ely whilst the player leaving is Luciano Zavagno.

Lukas Zima is a seventeen year old goalkeeper from the Czech Republic who is joining the club from Genoa. During his time at Genoa, he made no first team appearances for the club, but has made several appearances for the Czech under 19 team. Being only 17, he is a player to watch in the future.

Christian Llama is joining il toro from Catania, his first club in Italy for whom he made a total of 55 first team appearances, scoring 3 goals for the club. The 25 year old left midfielder hails from Argentina, and has not played for his national team, despite being seen as a good prospect during his time at Arsenal De Sarandi in his home country.

Adam Vass is a 23 year old Hungarian defensive midfielder, who is joining i granata from Brescia, a club in the same division as torino. Despite featuring in 103 matches for the Brescia first team, Torino FC have been able to prise him away from the club for a fee of 800 thousand pounds. Vass spent some time at Stoke City, but never managed to make a first team appearance for the club. Vass has appeared 14 times for the Hungarian national team.

The last announced signing completed is that of 17 year old Brazilian defender Rodrigo Ely for a fee of 30 thousand pounds. The seventeen year old has joined the club from the might AC Milan, where he never managed to make a senior appearance. Ely joined AC Milan in 2009, after completing a free transfer from Brazilian side Gremio. Ely has appeared 10 times for the Brazilian under 20s team.

The only announced outgoing from i granata’s squad is 34 year old Argentinean left back Luciano Zavagno. Zavagno could be described as a journeyman, having played for a total of 11 clubs during his career. He featured 16 times for Torino in his one season at the club. He has never appeared for the Argentinean national team.
I do remember reading the stories about the Torino air tragedy. It was like United's in the fact that there was a disaster. But different inasmuch that United recovered. Torino never really got even close to the heights that they were, while Busby managed to recreate United from the ground up (possibly because he had a bigger squad)

I do rate Rodrigo Ely relatively highly, especially for Serie B... although, with a Torino story, I'd really prefer if you went for an "all Italian" Champions League win. That would truly be the turnaround, as it would be, not only the golden age of Torino, but the golden age of Italy.

However, if you decide not to, a decidedly cheap, yet magnificent purchase would be Josip Radošević of Hajduk Split in Croatia. That league, and especially Hajduk, is pretty much broke, so a little money will go a long way towards raiding it.

If you decide to go Italian, perhaps a loan move for Ciro Immobile? Love the player. Also consider Alberto Paloschi, although he is really a bit more of a Serie A player... not sure if he'll stoop down.

With Torino, I've never seen them not get promoted in the first season. The trouble is building for the first season in Serie A, and trying to get a mid-table spot...

Nice signings hope they do well for you!

Tbendis:Thanks for the comment man, very insightful. I will hopefully eventually build for an all italian champions league win, but that will take time. Building for the first season in serie a could be difficult, but I feel that we have a few players now of serie a quality.

Walter: Thanks for the comment. Some of them do alright. (from what I have seen from the future).

Why are you traveling to France to play against Olympique? I would think that you'd like to bring the stronger squads to home so you get some money from match attendance?

Also, do you think that you could hold a full-strength Fiorentina or Marseille to a draw? Or are you just testing your tactics against stronger opponents?

bendis: To be honest, when I went the arrange the friendly again OM, I instinctively went to do it at Stadio Olimpico Di Turin, but when I worked it all out, I could make more money out of the fixture if I played it away. And a trip to France to play OM is better than a trip to Northern Ireland to play Cliftonville and Crusaders. In terms of the possible result against la viola and OM, I mainly wanted to play them to see how the squad and tactics would go against better opposition, although at that time the tactics was still in development and my assistant manager screwed around with the starting XI until it had an average age of two against both teams, so in that case the tactic wasn't really tested. Although another of the reasons I played them was to get some money. Thanks for the comment.
2 tough ones, 2 easy ones. I expect you to come out at least 6 goal winners against the Irish sides :P
1
TSO: Thanks for that. There are 3 easy ones actually, if you include the match against the reserve team. The Northern Irish sides should be easy to beat, but you will have to wait and find out what happens.
Good luck in the friendlies!
