The Shade
A woeful couple of months for Fabio, exactly what the Shade wanted. He had something big planned for tonight that he hoped would irrefutably tarnish Fabio's reputation. He was ready. He got up, put on his duffel coat and stalked out towards his car. He got into his Ferrari and revved the engine. He was clever though, he didn't want to draw too much attention to himself so he had an older model of Ferrari and he never broke the speed limit. Also it was a spare car he had that he never took to work, he saved it for special occasions like this.
He switched on the lights of the car and pulled out of his drive and out onto the highway. He looked at the cars clock. It said 03:00. He pressed a button and up popped the satnav, "Please enter your destination". He entered it, "Stadio Olimpico, Rome". He set off into the night.
He arrived at his destination 20 minutes later. He was prepared to do this. He quickly put on his balaclava, gun in hand, just in case. He walked up to the doors of the imposing stadium, he swiped his club card and the doors swung open. He stepped inside, safe in the knowledge that nobody was there. He reached into his bag and plucked out a pen drive. He was heading into Fabio's office when he heard a sound. He turned round and saw the clubs cleaning lady who had been working late due to a backlog. The lady screamed as she saw a face.
The Shade panicked and turned and ran. Terrified didn't begin to explain how he was feeling as he charged through the doors, no thought about the plane, he just had to run. He ran into his car and turned the ignition. The car wouldn't start and he could see the police coming round the corner. He jumped out of the car and ran and hid behind a car in the car park.
He watched as the policemen entered the Stadio Olimpico. The lady was still there, huddling in a corner in shock. One of the policemen went over to her and comforted her. She told the police how he had attempted to get into his car but it hadn't worked and that he couldn't have gotten far and was probably still in the car park. The 2 young policemen fanned out and searched from car to car.
The Shade could see one of them approaching the car he was behind. As he turned his back to him he attacked. He punched the policeman at the top of his spine and turned and ran. Then he remembered why he hadn't ran in the first place as he saw the huge fence that surrounded the Olimpico. He began to climb. The other policeman hadn't noticed his comrade was down and if he went quietly enough then maybe he wouldn't notice him. He reached the top and swung over just as the policeman saw him, but it was too late.
He turned and ran off into the black night.
