AS Roma - Overview

Hello dear friends of FM Scout. As you may have gathered from the title, I am doing a save and story with AS Roma. I feel Roma are a club that have never really had much success but I also feel that I can bring them success and become a club legend.

The Title Explained

So why are Rome going to re-conquer Europe when they have never ever won a European competition? Well basically if anyone knows there history, they will know that the ancient Romans conquered Western Europe and would've likely conquered the entire world had they not been stopped at Hadrians wall. So this is my attempt to conquer Europe albeit in a slightly less violent way!

Also I find the storyline crucial for readers so expect all kinds of updates ranging from monthly score reviews to punch ups between players!

So Who Am I?

I am ex-Juventus captain Fabio Cannavaro. I have chosen to be him as he has an expansive knowledge of Seria A and Italian football in general. Also it adds controversy due to the fact he was an ex Juve player.

Budget

I have gave Roma a budget of £50,000,000 on the editor due to the sales of Bojan Krkic and Marquinhos. I feel this is a fair budget and I feel with this budget I can bring AS Roma success.

AS Roma - The Briefest of Brief Histories

Associazione Sportiva Roma commonly referred to as simply Roma, is a professional Italian football club based in Rome. Founded by a merger arranged by the Fascist regime in 1927, Roma have participated in the top-tier of Italian football for all of their existence but one season in the early 50s (1951–52). For their 61st season in a row (80th overall), Roma competed in Serie A for the 2012–13 season.
Roma have won Serie A three times, first in 1941–42 then in 1982–83 and again in 2000–01, as well as winning nine Coppa Italia titles and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. On the European stage Roma won an Inter-Cities Fairs Cup in 1960–61, coming close to European Cup victory in 1983–84 (lost the one-legged final played at home against Liverpool after a penalty shootout), and finishing as runners-up in the UEFA Cup for 1990–91 (two-legged aggregate defeat against Internazionale).

Home games are currently played at the Stadio Olimpico, a venue they share with city rivals Lazio. With a capacity of over 72,000, it is the second largest of its kind in Italy, with only San Siro able to seat more. In September 2009 the club unveiled plans to build a new 55,000-capacity stadium in the western suburbs of Rome. Its design was modeled after English football stadiums with the objective being to give fans a closer view of the pitch. In September 2011, it was announced that the new president, Thomas DiBenedetto, had reached an agreement with the mayor of Rome, Gianni Alemanno, to have the new stadium completed by 2016. Like the previous plan by Sensi, this new stadium is to be modeled after English stadiums.

Key Players

There are a lot of great players in this Roma side but having looked at the team report and scrutinized it thoroughly I have come to the conclusion that there are 3 players who will be key to the success of the club.

Francesco Totti

Daniele De Rossi

Erik Lamela

Club Legends

Also AS Roma have numerous club legends but for me there are a few who stand out from the crowd.

Francesco Totti

Bruno Conti

Agostino Di Bartolomei

So yeah, thats it!

This looks really interesting, i'll definitely be following. Be good to see what you spend your money on - do you have an idea of who you're going to buy yet?

That banner is also rather sexy

@wellsy - Top 4 is my aim but I want to win the league! :)
Great start. Probably the hundredth story I've seen with Cannavaro, but none of them lasted. Hopefully it'll be different for this one.

New Jerseys for the New Manager

Along with the announcement of new manager Fabio Cannavaro has come new kits for AS Roma. The new kits are quite similar to the old kits albeit with a different sponsor, Roma Cares instead of Wind.

Roma Cares is a foundation in the Rome area and the move to have them emblazoned on the Roma jersey is a clear indication that Roma have a constant commitment to socially relevant initiatives. The move will also see the club involved in several charity events with players and ambassadors of the club likely to attend.

Earlier today Francesco Totti and Daniele De Rossi were apparently seen modelling the kits but no official photos of them modelling the kits have been released. However pictures of the kits themselves have been released. Here they are and in my opinion they look superb

Also along with the new kits have come rumours that Roma are willing to spend big this Summer, in an attempt to gain champions league football, with Fabio apparently having a £50,000,000 kitty at his disposal.

Next Update :Double Signing For Fabio
That sponsor going deep! But great kits!
