Meeting with Owner
I had a quick meeting with the owner who told me about how he expected me to run this club. Apparently he took me for an absolute pillock, as he talked very slowly using elaborate hand gestures. After I resisted the urge to break his face, I listened to what he had to say. He told me that I was to be given a large transfer budget and that I should not waste it. I glanced down at the piece of paper and smirked. This was going to be a very interesting window.
Veteran Porto Midfielder On Transfer List
31 year old central midfielder, Lucho Gonzalez has been placed on the transfer list, only a day after the beginning of the window. Gonzalez, an accomplished playmaker was visually upset when talking to the media, stating his disappointment and anger at how he had been treated by the new manager. He claims that Anderson called him in to tell him that he needed to go, and there was nothing he could do to change his mind.
Gonzalez began his career at Porto where he stayed until 2009 when he made a bigm move to then French giants Marseille for a fee of approximately £20 million pounds. Good performances for the club led to him being linked with a move to England, with Arsenal as favourites. The potential transfer broke down when Gonzalez publicly stated his desire to stay at Marseille until his contract ran out. This did not turn out to be the case as in January 2012, Gonzalez returned to Porto, where he signed a contract with until 2014. After only half a season, he has been told to leave the club, leaving the fans in outrage at the manager, with some questioning his choices, blaming it on his lack of experience.
The interested parties include Malaga and PSG, who will have to stump up a reported £9 million for the player. Mr.Anderson has yet to comment on the situation, but is reportedly hosting a press conference tomorrow discussing this situation, as well as some other outgoings.
Wow Lucho is on the transfer list?? This should be interesting if a deal does not go through and he become a cancer in the locker room.
@BayernAmerica- Yeah, I have done my best to get him out, shouldn't be too hard with interest from PSG
Lucho On Too Much, says Anderson
Arthur Anderson has today confirmed the reason for Lucho Gonzalez's unexpected placement on the transfer list. He claimed that Lucho's wages were 'absurd' and that he was on more than double the next highest paid player in the team, which was 'ridiculous'. Lucho, also present at the press conference, seemed calmer, and told the press that he understood the reasoning behind his exclusion, and felt that he had overreacted.
The other big news was that Fernando was discussing personal terms with an unknown club, ahead of a transfer away from the Portuguese champions. Anderson refused to comment on the fee involved, only stating that the player did not fit in with his plans, and they both agreed a move away was good for both parties.
Finally, Anderson hinted that they were close to signing a new striker, revelaing that they were in advanced talks with the players club, other what could be a record signing. He later said that the deal should be announced in the next couple of days, as long as everything went smoothly. Keep your eyes peeled, folks.
Nice last update I will be following this from now on!
Porto Make Early Signing
http://thinkfootball.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/benteke.jpg
Porto has signaled their intent for the coming season, with a big money signing in the shape of Christian Benteke. The Belgium international has moved for an estimated fee of £18 million, more than double the price Aston Villa paid for him, of £7 million. Benteke said he was relishing the chance to be playing in the Champions League, and cited the manager, Arthur Anderson, as the main reason he was persuaded to leave the Premier League. Anderson himself commented saying it was a great signing for Porto, saying that he hoped Christian would form a solid partnership with Colombian forward Jackson Martinez.
Benteke started his career at Genk, before signing his first professional contract with Standard Liege, where he stayed for 2 years, going on loan both times, having a successful time at Kortijk, scoring 15 times in 34 games as a 20 year old. This led to him re-signing for Genk, and after a great year, moving to Aston Villa. In England he scored 22 times in 37 games, and saved Villa from relagation almost single-handedly.
Villa fans thanked him for all he had done for the club, and hoped that the manager uses the money received from this transfer wisely. Fans of Porto were extremely happy with the signing, stating that they were impressed that they were able to attract a player of his quality over to this league. This seems to be only the beginning of Porto's transfer dealings, with many expecting replacements for the sold Joao Moutinho and James Rodriguez, although everyone agrees that this is a brilliant piece of business for all involved.
