Meeting the ladies
Thankfully the scheduled match vs the u18 was cancelled. It turns out that's what lead to the departure of Shelley Kerr. From my understanding, the club had to release her as if that friendly had gone ahead, the club would have been in serious trouble with FIFA. A staff member here has also told me that she tried to do it without letting Vic Akers, the director of football, what a silly thing to do!
Anyway today was the day that I conducted my first training session with the ladies. Before the training session I introduced myself to the ladies and they introduced themselves to me, I believe we will have a great relationship which is ideal for a team to be successful. There was one person in particular who was very friendly, Alex Scott. She seemed eager to impress and always had a big smile on her face. I'll watch out for her.
Training took place in the dome, it was cold outside and the girls preferred training indoors. Being pre-season, all we did in training was fitness! The players went through various fitness exercises and you could see the sign of lack of fitness in some of them. Despite most of them tiring towards the end of the session, I made them do 50 sit-ups then they could leave training, however this backfired...
When the girls got to about 20 sit-ups they all stopped. At first I was confused, did I mistakenly say 20? In a few seconds I realized what was going on. The girls said to me "since pre-season is all about fitness why don't you join us Seni". I hesitated but it would make me look like a coward if I set out tasks I wasn't capable of doing and so I joined in the exercises. Boy it wasn't easy but it was a lovely first training session.
