Meeting the ladies

Thankfully the scheduled match vs the u18 was cancelled. It turns out that's what lead to the departure of Shelley Kerr. From my understanding, the club had to release her as if that friendly had gone ahead, the club would have been in serious trouble with FIFA. A staff member here has also told me that she tried to do it without letting Vic Akers, the director of football, what a silly thing to do!

Anyway today was the day that I conducted my first training session with the ladies. Before the training session I introduced myself to the ladies and they introduced themselves to me, I believe we will have a great relationship which is ideal for a team to be successful. There was one person in particular who was very friendly, Alex Scott. She seemed eager to impress and always had a big smile on her face. I'll watch out for her.

Training took place in the dome, it was cold outside and the girls preferred training indoors. Being pre-season, all we did in training was fitness! The players went through various fitness exercises and you could see the sign of lack of fitness in some of them. Despite most of them tiring towards the end of the session, I made them do 50 sit-ups then they could leave training, however this backfired...

When the girls got to about 20 sit-ups they all stopped. At first I was confused, did I mistakenly say 20? In a few seconds I realized what was going on. The girls said to me "since pre-season is all about fitness why don't you join us Seni". I hesitated but it would make me look like a coward if I set out tasks I wasn't capable of doing and so I joined in the exercises. Boy it wasn't easy but it was a lovely first training session.
Oooh. Taking advantage of the fact you're coaching women, are you? ;)
Oh aye Seni! ;)

Womens Champions League

The UEFA Womens champions league is set to start and our continental campaign will kick off on the 6th of march where we will face Rutgers University. Myself and the coaching staff have scouted the opposition for a couple of days.

In my opinion, we are much stronger than our opposition however we must not underestimate them. Therefore we must make sure that we are ready for two leagues of champions league football. Rutgers are strongest in the midfield and arguably, so are we. To cut the story short, the game will be won or lost in the midfield. We will hope to press their midfielders to win the ball and launch counter attacks.

The club has had previous success in this competition and recently have missed out narrowly but the girls are determined and so are the staff. The players and staff that were present when the team missed out have learnt from their mistakes and looking forward to this upcoming Champions League Campaign.

For us, our two key players are Alex Scott and Kim Little. These two players are crucial to the team and can decide the events of a game all by themselves. The experience of Kelly Smith will also come to our advantage. One thing I like about this squad is the fact that there's a nice mixture of experience and youth. The two go very well together. When you look at teams such as Aston Villa, you see what youth can do. Then you look at teams such as Chelsea, you see what experience can do.

We have the quality to challenge in all competitions in this squad and when looking to add to the squad we must look for very good quality, boy I sound more and more like Arséne Wenger as each day goes by!
Nice couple of updates ;) It's a good story so far.

I think there will be a bit of bias towards Alex when it comes to the team sheet :P
Seny wants to plow Alex... better not get cought or you'll get fired.
Why settle for one? Maybe both the roommates at once? And eventually work your way round the team..? :P
This story got me a bit excited man.. but hey its great, love the idea so far
Well I was not expecting this when I started reading story. Can't complain though, going well :)
