Away at St Marys Stadium is always difficult and this was no different. 50/50 possession, and the whole Southampton back 4 + goalkeeper having averages above 8 shows they defended brilliantly and held on to a goal scored by Lambert on the 18th minute to win 1-0. Slightly disappointing result but a weaker side was fielded to rest key players for the next game.Euro Super Cup

A great result. The boys were well up for this game and the performance showed. It took 28 minutes for new boy Nkoulou to put Liverpool ahead. A few Barcelona chances later, Gerrard finished off the game with a screamer on the 62nd minute. Liverpool win more silverware under Martinez!!
