Mandzukic Signs For Madrid
Real Madrid have completed the signing of Croatian striker
Mario Mandzukic from Bayern Munich. The forward joins for a fee of
£6M and this is the end for his 6 month stay in Munich. The striker was unhappy at Bayern so manager Pep Guardiola was willing to let the player go for a low fee.
Bayern rejected a bid of £11M from Dortmund but felt it was a bad deal for the club as he would be leaving to join their main Bundesliga rivals. The club then decided that they would have to lower the asking price if they wanted to offload the troublesome striker.
”It is a great pleasure to play for a top team”, said Mandzukic.
“It means a lot that Madrid were interested and that I was able to sign. We all knew I had no future at Bayern and I am sad it did not work out but I have to move on”.
“I promise that I will work hard and that I will play to my best ability and try and force myself into the team. I feel I have a chance and I feel this is the right move for me”
Mario Mandzukic was recently axed from the international team after his antics at Bayern but he hopes that he can force a way back into the national frame.
“It was tough for me to take. I feel I did not deserve to not be selected but it was out of my hands. I want to perform well and make sure I can get back into the team and try and grab myself a place on the plane to Brazil”.
Madrid now have 3 recognised strikers in Benzema, Higuain and now Mandzukic and many pundits are saying that Mandzukic will hardly get a game at Madrid.
Bayern fans are happy to see him go but club officials are upset that they lost around £6M on transfer fees for the striker.
