Sunday 15th December 2013 – Manchester City v Arsenal (Premier League)

During the week before the game City suffered two massive injury blows, Micah Richards will face 2 months on the sideline with a double hernia, and leading goal scorer Edinson Cavani is expected to miss the whole of the Christmas period with a twisted knee.

After a slow start where Arsenal took the lead, City took the game to the Gunners and once Nastasic had equalized, the "Aguero Show" began. A hat-trick from the Argentinian striker showed City fans that they hopefully won’t miss Cavani too much and he is happy to fill in as the main striker.

Champions League First Knock-out Stage Draw

Manchester City will face a familiar opposition in the first knock out stage of this year’s Champions League as they face the same team as last year, Real Madrid. City and Madrid have been drawn against each other again and will even face each other in the same order as last year, with the first leg being played at City’s Etihad Stadium and the second leg at Real’s Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

City will be without the man who guided them through last year as Carlos Tevez was sold for £15m to Juventus, but City fans will be hoping their new man Edinson Cavani can have the same impact on this year’s tie. And of course, Real will be looking for revenge and to this year go further than the first knock out stage, one man who will be hoping to play a big part is Xabi Alonso. Alonso missed a penalty with the scores 0-0 in the first leg and from there City went on to win 3-0 and progress.

City struggled to come to terms with West Brom at the Hawthorns today, and will be happy to walk away with a point and keeping their 20 game unbeaten streak going. Disappointing performances from all of the attacking players lead to City hardly breaking down the West Brom defense.

Sunday 29th December 2013 – Wolverhampton Wanderers v Manchester City (Premier League)

Manager’s December Review

December is a busy month in English football and with us playing 6 Premier League games I was happy to come away with 4 wins and 2 draws from this month. At the time we played Newcastle, they were 2nd and on a good run of form but we easily beat them before then beating Arsenal 4-1 a week later. We have put ourselves in a really good position to win the league and I’m hoping this run continues.

We had one final Champions League game and we managed a 1-1 draw with Barcelona at home which meant we finished 2nd in the group behind Barca. We have been given a tough draw for the next round as once again we face Real Madrid.

My player of the month is Matija Nastasic. At the beginning of the season I knew I’d move to a youthful player to play alongside Kompany, and I put that faith in Nastasic even though I’d just bought Varane, and he has lived up to my expectations with another month of brilliant performances. His performances led to him coming second in the Premier League Young Player of the Month, behind team mate Luke Shaw.

I am delighted to say that Sergio Aguero made the World Team of the Year and Yaya Toure won African Footballer of the Year, as well as being named in the African Team of the Year.

Wednesday 1st January 2014 – Manchester City v Everton (Premier League)

City’s attacking players seemed to struggle to break down the Everton defense today, and when they did an inspired Tim Howard was there to keep them up, but City were not going to be denied and with ten minutes to go, City’s central defenders wanted to show them how it was done and goals from both Nastasic and Kompany gave City the three points.

Saturday 4th January 2014 – Leicester City v Manchester City (FA Cup 3rd Round)

City showed their Premier League dominance from start to finish and although it took a while for the break-through, once it came City took control. A mistake from Shaw lead to Leicester’s goal but he got his head together and played well for the rest of the game. Another big positive from this game is that Cavani played 80 minutes and scored two goals. In the 4th Round City will face Birmingham at the Etihad Stadium.

Sunday 19th January 2014 – Chelsea v Manchester City (Premier League)

A massive game at Stamford Bridge sees second place Chelsea face league leaders Manchester City. City are currently unbeaten this season and are an astonishing nine points clear with a game in hand over Chelsea.

City come into the game with only Micah Richards missing through injury, although David Silva is still struggling and is unlikely to play any part. Edinson Cavani returned from injury against Reading and bagged his 11th league goal of the season.

Chelsea are without captain John Terry and Hatem Ben Arfa and have extra fitness worries about Juan Mata and Stevan Jovetic, although both are expected to play. Chelsea come into the game on the back of two defeats and know a defeat today will likely see City move too far ahead to be caught.

First Half

A very even first half in which both teams cancelled each other out but the one telling moment came in the 40th minute when a City corner was headed home by Vincent Kompany, only for it to be disallowed for an alleged push on a Chelsea defender. City have created the most chances in the half and look most likely to win it.

Second Half

The second half was just as even as the first but the one truly telling moment came just 6 minutes in when Hector Moreno’s first goal in English football gave Chelsea all three points and condemned City to their first defeat of the season. Cavani had a chance with 15 minutes to go but Cech made a great save to keep out the City front man.

Unlucky about the result against chelsea mate

Very Unlucky against Chelsea mate, but good wins against Arsenal and Everton. Unlucky in the Champions League drawing Real, but I'm confident even the invincible Blanco's will be beaten Good Luck with the rest of the season!

Thanks for the support guys i was gutted with the Chelsea result but we didnt show much in the second half so cant say we deserved too much more than what we got!

City or Birmingham will face Southampton at home in the Quarter Final.

After a couple of disappointing results, the real Man City showed up today and City had this game won before half time. Five first half goals were enough to earn City the three points and although the second half didn’t produce the goals, the performance didn’t drop. City’s Samir Nasri will miss 2-3 weeks with a twisted knee, while Pablo Zabaleta is likely to miss a week of action with a bruised rib.
