Football Manager 2024 Facepacks - NG_Regens Diversity Newgen Megapack + Picture Pack 6
Hello guys!

I would like to share with you my newgen megapack, that I have created for myself while playing the game.

Right now it consists of more than 130 000 pictures across 55 different ethnicity categories.

Due to how diverse the pack is, I had to create my own expanded folder system to accomodate all 55 categories, so the pack requires a custom NG_Regens Manager 25 software

Installation guide:

1 - Get the main NG_Regens facepack here

2 - Copy the NG_Regens folder into your FM Graphics folder. It would be the same folder where you have put the original newgan facepack or where you put real facepacks. In my case that would be “Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2024\graphics\faces\”

3. Download the NG_Regens Manager 25: Windows | Mac

4. Watch the NG_Regens Manager 25 guide on Youtube
If you need a detailed video guide on shortlist export process you can find it here
Deepdive into new version 1.2 features
I will redo all three current Youtube videos into one, but this is a time consuming process, so bear with me.

31.07.2025 Picture Pack 6

More than 23,000 pictures for the following ethnicity folders:

Central Africa
Filipino: the Philippines
China
Indonesia
Maghreb: Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Tunisia
Malaysia
Southern Africa
Uzbekistan
West Africa

24.07.2025 - NG_Regens Manager 25 v1.3.0 has been released

Changelog - v1.3.0:

  • Completely redesigned new user experience using a localized wizard-style setup process.
  • If you use the SaveGame Profiles feature, you can now enable protection/workaround for the FM Newgen ID Recycle bug on a per-profile basis. If you want to know more about the bug, you can read an English article here. Long story short: FM can sometimes reuse the IDs of retired newgens for newly generated ones. To work around this, I have implemented an additional tracking system that should find players with recycled IDs and assign them new appropriate faces.
  • Since the program has changed significantly since its first release, I am currently working on a new guide for my YouTube channel. I will explain this feature in more detail there.

As is common with new application releases, the file's signature has changed. This may trigger a temporary warning from your antivirus software. The application is safe, and you can verify the file yourself at VirusTotal.com if you have any concerns.

10.07.2025 - NG_Regens Manager 25 v1.2.1

A small bugfix release is now available for download.

  • Added support for FM23 and below. You can set your version on the Settings page.
  • Fixed a bug where a correctly exported shortlist couldn't be imported because of too strict encoding requirements.
  • Fixed a bug where a grey screen was shown after a shortlist import instead of a more useful error message.
  • Reduced the amount of unnecessary logging during picture pack installations that could sometimes cause the GUI to hang.
  • Added the version number to be clearly visible on the main page to avoid confusion.

NG_Regens Manager 25 v1.2 - Now Available (29/06/2025)

I case you already playing a save and want to keep your currently assigned newgen faces (original NewGAN, FM.Z, FMRTE) but use my pack for new faces I also got you covered - see Keeping your current regens section below.

Here is a showcase of how it looks in-game.

A tactics screen of a european team. 4 are real photos, the rest are newgens. Can you guess who is who?

And here is a Brazilian u19 team, all are regens here:

You can check this reddit thread for some more showcase pictures.

Keeping your current regens

If you’ve already got a save going and want to keep your existing regen faces but generate new ones using my latest pack—you’re all good, I’ve got you covered! The program can read both the classic NewGAN format (Zealand’s original one) and the newer FM.Z/URAN format. If anyone’s using a different format, definitely let me know so I can look into it.

Just a heads-up though—this compatibility is one-way:
You can use your old mappings with this tool, but you won’t be able to go back and use classic NewGAN/FM.Z/FMRTE afterwards (or at least, I honestly have no idea what would happen).

So here’s what to do:
Find your current regen pictures folder — this is the folder you've been using as your image folder in NewGAN Manager, FM.Z Manager, or FMRTE.

Copy the contents of the NG_Regens folder from the archive you downloaded in Step 1 of the guide and paste it right into that same image folder.

If you’re using the classic NewGAN format, your folders should now look something like this, with old and new folders side by side at the same level:

There’s just one small caveat: the folder called "Scandinavian" exists in both the old and new packs. But don’t worry—our files have different names, so they won’t overwrite each other.

Here’s what will happen with that specific folder:
Your old face assignments will stay intact—no worries there. The system will treat the "Scandinavian" pics from both packs as part of the same group. That means you might see old faces showing up on new players and if you start a new save and click "Generate", the program will pull from both versions. You’ll basically end up with a Scandinavian mega-pack of around 12,000 pics.

If you’re using the FM.Z/URAN format, your folder structure should look like this:

Just keep them at the same level in the directory and you’re all set!

If you have any questions regarding the installation or anything else, you can leave a comment here, on my youtube channel or you can send me an email to [email protected]

I hope you have fun with the pack and have a very nice day!

F.A.Q.

Q: When I try to import a shortlist, I get a "Parsing failed, this shortlist is invalid" message.

A:
This usually means the exported shortlist wasn’t in the correct format. Here's how to fix it:

Make sure the correct view is imported and active before exporting the shortlist.

You can follow along in my YouTube guide on how to export your shortlist.

Sometimes FM doesn't activate the newly imported view automatically. To fix this:

Click on your current view in the player search screen. Then go to "Custom" and select "SCRIPT FACES player search" to manually select the correct one.

Your player search screen should now look like the one in my video, with columns like:
UID, NAT, 2ND NAT, NAME, followed by three numeric columns.

To double-check, open your exported RTF file with any text editor (like Notepad). If everything was done correctly, the file should have a structure like this:

| UID | Nat | 2nd Nat | Name | | | |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| 2002075057| ESP | | Juan Pablo Abascal | 1 | 5 | 1 |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| 2002074630| ENG | | Andy Stafford | 2 | 5 | 9 |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|
| 2002076407| AUS | POR | Tozé Fareleiro | 1 | 16 | 3 |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------|

Q: I started a new game with fake players, but when I try to generate faces, they get skipped in your software and don’t get assigned in-game.

A:
This is due to how SI handles fake players. When fake players are used, FM keeps the original IDs of real players but replaces their names and statts. For example, if Messi has ID 123456, a fake Argentinian player will appear with that same ID — and since FM assigns faces based on IDs, that fake player would technically receive Messi’s face.

To avoid this kind of mismatch, it seems SI has completely blocked custom face assignment for fake players. So, even if the software tries to assign a face, FM simply won’t display it.

There might be a hidden workaround to force the game to allow face assignments for fake players, but as of now, I’m not aware of any reliable method.

This only affect fake players though, you absolutely can select "Add players to playable teams" option, players generated via this option are considered newgens and will have faces attached.

Q: Why did you create a new folder structure? / How can I unpack your pack into the old NewGAN "Italmed/YugoGreek..." folders?

A:
First off, huge shoutout to the original NewGAN team—they did an amazing job, and their work is still being used by thousands of people today. Even my project builds on the filters and views they created, so big respect to them. Seriously, none of this would be possible without their foundation.

That said, the original NewGAN pack came out about five years ago, and it was built using the tools and structure available at the time. It only has 14 categories for the entire world. A lot of care went into the big football nations, but unfortunately, many other countries kind of got lumped together in ways that don’t really make sense.

Let’s do a little experiment: I could show you a few images from my pack, each from a different category. In the old NewGAN setup, all of those would’ve ended up in the same group—meaning a player from one of those countries could randomly get any of those faces.

Notice the difference? That’s why it’s just not possible to repackage my set back into the old structure without losing all the nuance (or simply creating a mess).

That said, you can totally keep using your existing save where players already have NewGAN faces assigned, and just use my pack for generating new faces. I’ve got a guide on Reddit that walks you through it—look for the section called "Keeping your current regens."

Q:
What’s the current state of the facepack? What are your plans going forward? What’s the overall vision?

A:
The big-picture goal is to make the most realistic regen experience possible — ideally, I want every country in the world to be playable with newgens that actually feel like they could be real players from that nation. I want you to be able to load up a save in the Philippines, Haiti, or Mali, play a few seasons, and not be able to tell who’s a regen and who’s an original player. That’s the dream.

Are we there yet? Not even close.

Right now, the facepack is basically a solid skeleton. It represents the major world regions pretty well, at least in a general sense. What I’m currently working on is improving the overall quality: I’ve been dropping picture packs that upgrade older images with better, more lifelike ones.

Along with that, I’m also aiming to make the age range more consistent — my sweet spot is around 16–20 years old, since that’s the typical age for regens when they pop up. I want every region to reflect that.

Once the entire world is upgraded to the new image quality, the next step is to double the image count — way more variety, way more realism. After that? The ultimate goal: creating a believable, country-specific facepack for every nation in the game.

Hi, I'm not sure if it is just a thing on my end, but the ngregens site isn't available/unreachable, meaning both the facepack link and software download link aren't working. not sure if its just for me or something that only recently occured. I managed to get onto the site from googling it, but the links don't work on there either.

Long story short my SSD died and I lost some work. I managed to get it back, but it completely fd up my schedule, so I was not able to finish what I wanted before I had to make a pause due to family commitements.

FM26 is out in a month time (beta is even closer), so I will now wait those couple of weeks to see how it goes and probably will come back with a FM26 version.

Hello, any update on this project?
  • phnompenhandy's avatar
Works for me too - but you need to be patient. I have to keep my fingers pressed on Ctrl-A for what feels like hours before the copy function takes.
  • Nesti's avatar
Wicked, Ive jujst re installed it and it works - are you using an interface skin? put it back to basic - create a new manager and find the players there - takes minutes for me and works

hi just wanna ask will this work with FM19? Cos your pack looks soooooo good and I try to follow the steps but it didn't work T____T
  • Fwied's avatar
@KimG if you go into the pre game editor and pick up that custom nation file you're using and pick up the nation. For example if you pickup England the Three Letter Name is ENG. Croatia is CRO. See what your is.
  • KimG's avatar
@Fwied - Aah! But what do I choose for the numeric "Codes"?
  • Fwied's avatar
@KimG - you can add the custom nation into the mapping. But the nation mapping have to be 3 letters. I did it with my name. You go to mappings then create new. Put in the 3 letters the game gave to the nation. and you can pick which picture folder they should map to.

Hi! I am currently running a save with a custom nation and it seems like your software wont generate newgen faces in that nation. I get an error that the nation code is missing from the configuration table. Is there a way for me to manually add the nation code?

@cprrylow thank you so much for yoyr reply
  • cprrylow's avatar
@culturedleftpeg Hi, you have to use the provided software, no other assignment software works with this because of the expanded ethnicity structure and custom assignment logic.

Im currently working on direct memory reading mode to eliminiate the whole shortlist export thing.

Hi this pack looks totally superb thanks for all your work.

I use FMRTE and I have used a few AI newgen packs and they work fine, for some reason when I try and select the path to this pack FMRTE says no facepack found, do you know how to resolve this, there doesnt seem to be a config file in the megapack?
many thanks and kudos to you great work
  • cprrylow's avatar
Yes, that can be is a bit cumbersome. First, you'd need to copy the NG_Regens picture folder onto your second PC. Then I'd suggest installing the software on your main PC and doing all generations there. After each generation, you'd need to take the generated config.xml file and move it onto your second PC.

You can probably automate this by installing Google Drive/OneDrive/Dropbox on both PCs and adding the NG_Regens folder to your sync list. The initial synchronization would be lengthy since it needs to sync all the images, but afterward you'd only need to sync a single config.xml file.

I'm playing on 2 pc (I use steam cloud for my save), do you have a tips for have the sames faces ?
  • cprrylow's avatar
@gabrielogil31 Mate, you are absolutely right, Im a donkey! I have forgot I turned the old MixedRace pack off for some countries because many photos in that old one were badly cropped. And I have forgotten to turn it back when I released a new MixedRace pack... facepalm.

I have pushed an updated config, the software will pick it up at the next start.

    Thanks for reporting!
  • gabrielogil31's avatar
Hi, how are you? I’d like to ask a question. When I apply the faces using your program, it mostly uses the Anglosphere folder to replace players who should be MixedRace. So I end up with players of African or mixed descent getting white faces. Is that supposed to happen, or am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for the work, what a difference it makes to the game.

I think you can use with FMRTE but the pictures will not work with correct nations are set up differently.
  • kmalove's avatar
    can use it with fmrte?
  • cprrylow's avatar
Great to hear that you enjoy it!

Yes, my plan is to upgrade the whole world to the new picture quality. The next PP will finish Europe, and after that I'll tackle Africa and the rest of Asia.

In some regions, it's extremely hard to find photos of the right age in good quality, though, so we'll see how it goes.

?I'd like to thank you for this amazing work! It's the best facepack out there.
Do you have any plans to update the African faces in general? I feel like they’re a bit behind compared to the others...
These new faces from the separate packs look fantastic and so diverse, every player feels unique. It's the first time I'm playing FM without being able to tell who’s a newgen or not.
