Club reputation

Written by Josh_MU

Struggling for money? Want that extra boost to get promoted or win the league? Well in this short guide I will tell you all you need to know about earning money through a high reputation on Football Manager 2014.

Firstly, if your club is known worldwide or has a large fan base, you have a high reputation. These teams will usually be your Manchester United's and Barcelona's, so you’re going to be earning more money than a club that's in Sky Bet League 2 etc.

So what are the things that we need to know about reputation increasing our finance?

1. Merchandise.

If your club has a big reputation, it'll probably have a very large fan base as it is known worldwide. The higher your reputation, the more money you will earn from merchandise, simple. However, if your club doesn't have the biggest reputation, you'll still earn money from merchandise but no where near on the scale of that the big clubs earn their money. If you increase your club reputation (ie, winning the FA Cup) you'll more than likely earn more money from merchandise due to more fans following your club, although the majority of these could be glory hunters, there's nothing better than seeing a stream of cash flow into your club balance!

2. TV Rights.

Sky Sports, BT Sport, ITV, the list goes on. They all want to earn a heck of a lot of money like all networks on TV, and how do they do this? By securing the rights to showing high-profile football teams on TV. Again like the Merchandise, if your club has a big reputation, it'll attract more attention from these networks and they know they will get more viewers if that particular team with a big reputation are playing. However, smaller clubs, do not fear! If you are going on a very good cup run, you'll be able to earn a fair bit of money from these networks as they tend to all fight to show the later stages of cup competitions on TV, so if you reach the quarter finals or further, there is a huge chance that your match will be shown on TV, you could even earn money from TV if you play a team with a huge reputation, as again, the sports networks will want to try and secure the rights to that game. So the equation is simple, the more successful you are in a cup competition, the more chance you'll be on TV, meaning you'll get more money!

3. Match Attendances.

Bigger clubs get more people attending their matches because they have a large fanbase. If you’re managing a big club, expect to earn a lot of money from ticket sales as your club has a huge reputation. However, again, small clubs will still earn money from match attendances but not as much as the bigger clubs. A good way to earn money from match attendances is either a local derby, as many fans will make the journey to watch the match as it's a hugely contested game, or cup games held at Wembley, as your club will earn a lot of money from the ticket sales at another stadium. Also if you play bigger clubs in a friendly, or a cup competition, you'll earn money from the travelling fans. So basically, either doing well in the cup and getting to Wembley or playing bigger clubs at your stadium will really help your finances increase.

So there you have it! All you need to know about using your club reputation to increase your clubs finances! I hope this helped!

Since manager cannot do nothing with his salary it is financially profitable to accept lowest possible salary. This way money saved goes back to budget.
