Who is the best wonderkid in FM24?

This is one of the most common questions we receive every single year.

The quick answer would be Lamine Yamal in terms of the maximum potential ability a player can get in-game.

However, that's not telling the whole truth and it's also unfair to other under-21 players who start on a higher current ability.

According to our FM Scout rating, Yamal is marginally the best FM24 wonderkid, but let's let's briefly explain how this rating system works.

Our recommendation rating explained

The FM Scout rating is my personal recommendation system that makes it easier for everyone to get a clear indication on how good a player can become when fully developed.

It's my own assessment of the potential development of these young players who possess a wonderkid-level Potential Ability (PA).

Most people are accustomed to a 1-100 scale, so I'm using such a scale based on the English football divisions since EPL is considered the most competitive league in the world.

Now an important factor to consider is that the vast majority of U21 prospects are given a PA range and not a fixed PA value.

Having a PA range means the player will get a random PA value in every new save created between the values defined within the range.

For example, the -9 range translates to a value between 150 and 180.

In order to fairly reflect how good players on PA ranges can become, I'm calculating my recommendation rating based on their average potential ability.

For reference, the rating for a -9 player would represent his quality on a 165 PA value.

It's much more simple for players on fixed PA values, as the rating reflects exactly those values.

How good is Lamine Yamal

At the start of season one in-game, Yamal will have a Current Ability (CA) of 125.

That's quite high, considering he's still listed as a 15-year old if you start the season in the English early pre-season (July 3rd, 2023).

Yamal has a PA range of -10 which translates to 170-200 which is literally the best PA range any player can possess.

My rating for him is 95/100 which reflects his projected quality on a 185 PA value.

And still, there's another wonderkid with a higher fixed PA value than that. Like Yamal, he also plays at a Spanish club.

So given the chance, I'd like to introduce you to four other wonderkids with amazing ratings who are pretty close to being the best in the game.

They are so good that it's quite possible someone else could've picked one of them instead.

How good is Jude Bellingham

At the start of the first transfer window, the older of the Bellingham brothers will have a CA of 162.

That's already a world-class ability if you ask me. He's still aged 20.

Bellingham has a fixed PA value of 188 which is the highest amongst all players on my list of FM 2024 wonderkids.

My rating for him is 94/100.

The next pick will be joining Jude's team on 22/07/2024 and is currently playing in Brazil.

How good is Endrick

Endrick was last year's wonderkid sensation as he was the only player on a -10 potential, like Yamal is this year.

Real Madrid has already agreed terms to sign him and he will join the Spanish giants next summer.

At the start of season one in-game, he will have a CA of 112, aged 16.

Endrick has a PA range of -95 which translates to 160-190. He is 1 of 10 players on such a PA range in the database.

My rating for him is 94/100 which reflects his projected quality on a 175 PA value.

For the next pick, we're moving to Germany.

How good is Jamal Musiala

At the start of the first transfer window, the German international will have a CA of 157, aged 20.

Bayern signed him from Chelsea back in 2019 for less than 200K. His transfer value is initially 91-113M in-game now.

Musiala has a fixed PA value of 185 which is the second highest amongst all players on my wonderkids list.

My rating for him is 94/100.

For the final pick, we're going to England and The Lilywhites.

How good is Mikey Moore

Mikey Moore is making his debut in the 2024 default database, same as Yamal.

At the start of season one in-game, he will have a CA of 91, aged 15.

That's not high enough to challenge for a rotation spot in any Premier League side, so he'll need to be carefully nurtured until he develops further.

Mikey Moore has a PA range of -95 (same as Endrick) which translates to 160-190.

My rating for him is 94/100 which reflects his projected quality on a 175 PA value.
