Graphics Pack Update
The DB is already 100% stable and feature complete; and I'm already in my 3rd season.
I've created 24 new competition logos for the following divisions:
All primary Super League divisions
B Leagues
Premier League 2 (Top B League)
U19 Divisions
U19 Premier League
UEFA Reserve League
UEFA Youth League
I created these logos so I don't have to look at the boring old FM generated logos.
Some of these logos are only shown at the end of the season when the promotions/relegations are announced.
NOTE: There were already 43 competition logos for all the main divisions, this just adds logos for the reserve/B-team and U19 teams as well!
Anyone already with a save game can just replace their 'graphics/WSL' folder with the new files.
You will need to 'clear cache' and 'reload skin' for the new logos to show.
Enjoy!
End of update announcement ...
Introduction
Building on 3 years of experience (ESL17, WSL18, WSL19), with over 23,000 downloads and Steam subscriptions, welcome to the next evolution of the World Super League.
After 1 year of planning; 4 months of work (most of my free time) and over 1,000 hours of testing; this is the most ambitious FM super league I've ever created and probably the most challenging (and rewarding) FM experience you'll ever have!
What is this?
WSL is a 'Super League' that replaces all the leagues in England, with a custom league structure where clubs from all over the world play together. There are custom leagues, cups, awards and graphics (custom league logos and backgrounds). The top 500+ clubs from around the world are included, as well as all 160+ playable clubs from England. All clubs compete in one of several UEFA Leagues; and they all have a B-team and U19 team.
This is also the highest quality and most advanced Super League mod available; written by a software developer, who actually plays it for 1000+ hours each year!
Goals for this edition:
- Create a much more challenging but rewarding Premier League.
- There should be a lot more clubs fighting for promotion into the Premier League.
- More divisions below the Premier League also provides very good quality loan clubs for wonderkids to develop.
- Replace boring league names like `Division 4e` with interesting league names from around the world.
- Create an independant U19 and Reserve/B-team system (requested).
Features
- 828 clubs.
- 69 countries.
- 9 Divisions.
- 340 Awards.
- 50,405 DB Changes.
- Completely new league structure with regional 'themed' leagues and groups.
- The top 500+ clubs in the world are included.
- All 160+ playable clubs from England are included.
- All clubs still play in England.
- No Brexit, and no work permits.
- No changes to the default international competitions.
- All clubs keep their 'based nation', so youth players will come from their original country.
- Custom graphics; backgrounds, logos and trophies.
- Used the editor in Advanced mode, using many advanced rules and features.
- All clubs have a B-team (U23) and U19 team with their own leagues and cups.
- B-team and U19 leagues have independent promotion/relegation systems.
- 3 of 7 subs.
- League transfer windows between 9 June to 31 August and 1~31 January.
- U21 players don't need to be registered.
- U19 & B-teams don't require registration.
- All clubs play in one of the UEFA leagues which is their continental cup.
- Perfect schedules.
- Highest quality with lots of testing and balancing.
- Created by a software developer with a very high attention to detail.
League Structure

The league structure is designed to provide the maximum challenge and competition for the Premier League clubs. 88 clubs play in the Super League 1 divisions; Bundesliga, LaLiga, Ligue 1 and Serie A with 22 clubs each and a relegation/promotion playoff to get into the Premier League. This provides a very unique and difficult but rewarding challenge. However, it also allows Premier League clubs to find very good quality loan clubs for their wonderkids. You'll need a virtually perfect season to get into the Premier League.
But it's a privilege, not a right!
The lowest 4 leagues (SL5~SL8) are filled with lower league clubs from England. They are there for guys like me who want to start from the bottom and play LLM (lower league management). When you get into the Premier League, you can also remove the bottom 4 leagues (SL5~SL8) because they don't really offer much advantage or challenge to the Premier League clubs. Removing the bottom 4 leagues will also help to speed up processing.
*Regional Leagues and Groups
As you can see from the new league structure this year, the league consists of various regional 'themed' leagues in a single league structure.
For example; the Bundesliga division will have mostly German clubs, but it will also include clubs from other countries.
The idea behind this is just to give the 'feeling' that leagues from around the world joined together. Each league has a different theme, color, background etc.
However, all clubs still play in England!
Note: This is not the full list of clubs!

Note:
- The screenshots above only show 252 clubs of 828 clubs! (30%)
- Screenshots of ALL leagues and clubs can be found on the Steam page!
- The league names do not restrict clubs from those countries, they are just there for 'theming'. For example; Celtic, Everton, Aston Villa, Olympiakos and Sporting all play in LaLiga; with 7 Spanish clubs at that level.

How challenging is this mod?

Pep Guardiola won the FA Cup, finished 3rd in the Premier League, runner-up in the UEFA Champions League, entered the European Hall of Fame, gets Manager of the Month and still gets fired.
This mod can be absolutely brutal! But it's also extremely rewarding, all the pain and suffering will be worth the victory and the glory!
Why do I create the WSL
I create this mod for myself every year, because I don't play the base game, it's just not challenging (or balanced) enough for me.
So I create something that I will play for 1000+ hours every year, and I share it here for others to enjoy.
For me to invest 1000+ hours of my precious free time, I require something exceptional to keep me entertained.
Therefore, this db/mod is made with the highest level of passion, love and care; and I hope others will agree and enjoy playing it as much as I do!
Recommended & Compatible mods
* Requires FM 20.4
It might work on older versions, but I haven't tested it on older versions.
Warning: Long startup time
Please note that there is a long intial load time to setup the leagues.
But after setup, it will be faster to process.
Steam Workshop vs. Direct Download
The Steam Workshop allows you to 'subscribe' to the mod, and get regular real-time updates to the main .fmt file.
However, the Steam Workshop doesn't include all the additional graphics; competition logos and background images I've created.
For the best gameplay experience, I suggest you subscribe to the Steam Workshop file to get regular updates to the .fmt file,
but then download the additional .zip file here and extract the graphics into the /graphics/WSL folder !
NOTE: The Direct Download also includes the latest .fmt file for your convenience.
Updates
Please check this page every few days for any further updates!
How to Install WSL FM20
Extract files:
Copy the file: `World Super League FM20 v1.0.fmf` to:
C:\Users\[__USERNAME__]\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\editor data
NOTE: .fmf files must be placed directly in the `editor data` folder without sub-folders in `editor data` folder!
Copy the `graphics` folder to:
C:\Users\[__USERNAME__]\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2020\graphics
The custom graphics are compatible with other logo and background packs! Just make sure my pack is under /graphics/WSL/

Start new career game, select `World Super League FM20 v1.0` from the `Database` Drop down box on top right, then click `Advanced Setup` and select England (Super League 8 should be selected by default).
NB NB NB: Please disable all other custom leagues and database changes in the `Database` Drop down box! This mod has been heavily edited and tested, so other custom databases might break it!

Other nations are NOT necessary, ALL the clubs you need are inside England.

It's normal to see all the other countries are disabled!
If the custom graphics don't show, check the file paths again and then go to `Preferences -> `Reset` (bottom left) -> click `Clear Cache` ... then click `Reload Skin` on the bottom. This can be done anytime during or after starting a new game!

Final thoughts
This mod has taken hundreds of hours of my free time, so I really hope you appreciate the effort and my attention to detail!
Please leave a comment if you enjoyed it! I like seeing feedback, it motivates me to keep doing this!
Good luck, I hope you enjoy the challenge and may the football gods be with you on your journey to world domination!
Discussion: World Super League (WSL) - FM20 Edition
93 comments have been posted so far.
I want to report an error that happened to me 2 times in different versions of WSL.
Since the season 22/23. But I suspect the mistake only starts and gets bigger from that season.
Some teams start playing Premier League and Group B (team b)
But only use the First Team players and not Team B.
Matches are scheduled for only first team players to play.
Bolivar has a reputation of 5050, and The Strongest have 4900.
That might seem like a small difference, but there are 128 clubs in the world in that range (4900~5050); and not enough space to add them all. Only 29 clubs (22%) made it into the WSL in that range. I guess there were just other priorities. From 5500 reputation I had to start dropping clubs, so this was already a very low priority range. Already over 600 clubs added above Bolivar, so there was not much space remaining, and still many more clubs to add under this range to keep the WSL balanced.
If you want that club in the WSL, let me know and I'll make you a custom version. I will remove a low priority club, and create the B-team and U19 of The Strongest. I will also put them on the same tier. Just let me know.
The reason for this is because all divisions play in one of the UEFA (Europa League) Competitions. This increases the overall number of games by at least 14 extra games per season for clubs that get into the group stage (with qualifiers). If there are gaps in your schedule, then it's because other teams in your league are playing in a UEFA competition or they are playing in FA Cup games (or replays). Provision was made for those clubs, should they have qualified for a group stage, to not fall behind in games played.
The scheduler reserves certain days for these games, and fills the gaps with league games. This is so that the number of games played between all the clubs remains consistent. So if you don't reserve those days, then there are a lot of postponements; and some clubs will have played a lot less games than other clubs and will have to catch up at the end of the season.
In higher leagues, there are also provisions for International games like UEFA Nations League, World Cup qualifiers and UEFA European Qualifiers. So the scheduler also reserves these days, because ALL the international players are in the league, and it would be unfair to play a league game against a team that is half strength.
You must always be aware of what games are coming, and which games are following. You might have a run of 2 games per week for 3 weeks. 6 games in a row. Making rotation very important.
But the main reasons for the gaps in all leagues, are the UEFA Europa Leagues in all divisions, which is not the case in real life. You can check the competitions of other clubs, not only in your league, but also other leagues at your level.
Also, without proper reservations, then you will find you have 2 games in 3 days, with only a 1 days break between the games. Which is also what I try to avoid.
I also checked the Championship schedule from 2018. Nottingham played Saturday, August 4, 2018, Tuesday, August 7, 2018, Saturday, August 11, 2018; so it does happen in the Championship as well. All in all, they also played 12 games in mid week. If you also factor in 14 extra games for UEFA Europa League matches (which the EFL Championship doesn't have), then it's a very tight schedule. Perfect scheduling is virtually impossible to achieve, but I did my best to be fair to all teams.
All competitions are created from scratch, I don't re-use any competitions! And I don't have any custom ad boards configured.
The main reason I do this is because of the competition logos. I don't want to use the default/real "Premier League" logo. If I use the default competition, then I cannot override the logos. There are also other reasons, I've learnt to just create the competitions from scratch, because there other configurations and dependancies in the DB that point to the default PL competition, which I want to avoid.
It should be easy to create competition ads for the WSL, just copy the config file and change the competition id. Maybe this is something I can look into doing myself as well.
how come your prem league & competition ids don't match up to the video ads config files witch video ads are you using to get them ids I'm using Rabcps of sortitoutsi and your ids dont match up with his config file
The lower leagues have a lot less TV money.
Higher leagues and competitions have more money (Initial TV Money), more matches televised (money from TV broadcast) and also more prize money.
All the money was carefully balanced (based on clubs in that tier, and their players) from many days of simulations.
I also play in the lower leagues, and it's very hard. There is very little money in lower leagues. I have a transfer budget of 14K, but I signed only free transfer players. You can rely on free transfers and loan players in the lower leagues.
The full list is very long.
All these clubs have a B-team and U19 team created by me.
Some clubs already had a B-team (or II team) with players, like the German and Spanish clubs.
I moved all the players and staff from the original B/II teams back into the main team, which takes a few days.
This is one reason why this Super League is higher quality. Because it's not just about putting clubs in a league structure, it's about all the small details around the leagues and clubs.
The 'Bundesliga' is just a name, it's not the real Bundesliga league. However, all the clubs from the Bundesliga are included, they are spread around. The Bundesliga in the WSL also includes many clubs from other countries.
There are 8 clubs from Romania, 7 from Japan, 35 from Argentina, 7 from China and 16 clubs from Russia included.
The top 500 clubs in the game are included, from 69 countries.
I cannot make a league from every country, with every club, because the game will be very slow. I chose to included the top 500 clubs in the game by reputation. All clubs over 5500 reputation (of 10,000) are included.
I will include a list of all countries represented later.
its free to download so just download it and have a look yourself and if they are in there then donate
I used in game editor i got through steam plus i really don't fancy starting a new game with the editor you done for WSL i thought you might of named it world super league in the game its self and not Premier League as we already have a Premier League that's my thoughts anyway i don't mean to cause any upset its just my thoughts
keep up the good work anyway and KEEP SAFE
I thought you renamed the "Premier League" to "World Super League" in the FM20 Editor. If not, then how did you rename the league? With a different editor?
The qualifiers for Super League 1 teams start in August. Group stage begins on 20 September. Premier League teams enter the Group stage.
Teams from Super League 1 that do not qualify for Champions League group stage in August, enter Europa League group stage, which also starts on 20 September.
Please check your teams calendar for match days.
still lost witch Editor is that do you mean World Super League - FM20 v1.0
Editor if so how do i open it
eg. "Premier League Manager of the Season", "Premier League Player of the Season" etc.
If you just rename the "Premier League" to "World Super League" without renaming the awards as well, at the end of the season, when you get the awards with the name "Premier League" in them, it will break the sense of immersion.
In the editor, click "Awards", then filter by "Nation" -> "England", and "Name Contains" -> "Premier League".
Then just rename the awards to something like "World Super League Player of the Season" etc.
i Have changed the Premier League to World Super League is that what you mean mate
Don't forget to rename the Premier League awards.
The ones associated with my Premier League, not the original ones!
thanks very much
