Brazilian Joins Club
17th January 2014

Yesterday new head coach Gunnar Stahl made his first signing official. The club has made an agreement with Brazilian Talles Henrique da Cunha Carmo (Simply know as Talles) on a free transfer. He joins the club after a spell with Campeonato Brasileiro Série D club Nova Iguaçu. One of Talles' strengths is that he has both speed and can be very technical. Stahl will probably be playing him at the right AM spot as a winger.

"Talles has been on this clubs radar for a while now, during my time as a coach we tried to sign him and nothing happened, but now we have him."-Gunnar Stahl

"I am happy to be playing for Stjarnan"-Talles

Talles' first action will be in a few weeks when the club starts friendly play.
Great signing, and love the *turns powerpoint* thingy :P. Great start mate, take them to the tooop!

@ Pauker thanks man!! Will do. This should be fun especially when we play IBV and David James :)
Isn't David James the old goalkeeper that played for England and Portsmouth?!
Yep
Preseason
The 2014 preseason was pretty good. I am not too upset over the amount of draws, the guys are just starting to get back into things. I feel the guys are ready for the upcoming Deildabikar tournament. This runs from February until April. Afterwards we start league play.

FH and Stjarnan involved in epic match
24/2/14

Hafnarfjörður- Match day two of the 2014 Deildabikar was on a very cold and snowy afternoon as last year's second and third placed Úrvalsdeild clubs would face each other. Stjarnan and new manager Gunnar Stahl would take on the 2009 Deildabikar champions FH.

The match would prove to be a test for both sides early on as FH scored the first goal in the 31st minute when Atli Guðnason scored. Stjarnan would answer back 11 minutes later from a beautiful equalizer from Gunnar Örn Jónsson. You could see the joy from the Stjarnan supporters that traveled as the club were considered the underdogs. Things would go down south as soon as the extratime came about as FH scored two quickies before the halftime whistle (Jernej Leskovar, 45+1 and Ólafur Páll Snorrason (45+2). At the half it was FH 3-1 Stjarnan.

After the half Stahl would sub in new signing Talles and this move really changed the game for Stjarnan. The score stayed the same until FH would commit an error leading to an own goal by GK Róbert Örn Óskarsson in the 60th. 9 minutes later Stjarnan would strike again thanks to an equalizing goal by Halldór Orri Björnsson. The FH fans at this point were stunned by a superb comeback, but it was far from over.
The tie would not last longer than two minutes as FH's Ingimundur Níels Óskarsson scored the go ahead goal. Bjarki Páll Eysteinsson equalized for Stjarnan in the 77th.

All tied up at 4-4 with less than 15 to go you could see everyone was under pressure and the wrong move would lead to a possible goal by the opposing club, then one minute later an error from the Stjarnan defense gave FH an easy goal when Óskarsson scored his second. At this point Stjarnan tried everything and everything but noting would work. The final whistle blew and it was all over FH 5-4 Stjarnan.

Overall this was an exciting match and we were right that FH would win. You need to give Stjarnan the credit for staying competitive all match long. Before match day two both had good starts to the Deildabikar FH won their match by a score of 1-2 and Stjarnan won 2-0. In group C FH is now second in the table and Stjarnan drop to 5th. There are five more matches in this stage for both.

Link announced with F.C. København
18/3/2014

John Dueholm and Almar Guðmundsson are pleased to announce a new link between F.C. København and Stjarnan. Under the terms of the agreement the following will apply with an immediate effect:

F.C. København will be able to send players on loan to Stjarnan. During the loan the player's salary will be paid in full by the parent club. Stjarnan have no obligation to play the player and may return to København at any time.

F.C. København have the first option to buy players from Stjarnan. In practice this means that once a bid for a player is accepted by Stjarnan, a bid of the same value from F.C. København must also be accepted. It is then up to the player to decide his future.

F.C. København will play Stjarnan an annual fee of $66.57K

At this point København will possibly be loaning out striker Lukas Spalvis. Spalvis recently told Danish media that he wants to go abroad on a loan to work on his game.
Group C will be decided on matchday 7
31/3/14

Matchday 6 proved to be a good one here in the 2014 Deildabiker when Stjarnan hosted group leaders Breiðablik. If Breiðablik won the match they would have qualified for the next round and Stjarnan might not have had a chance to get the second spot.

This game was a very sloppy game due to the snow that occurred but it was still entertaining. Stjarnan would end up scoring the only goal in the match when Tryggvi Bjarnason scored during the 43rd minute. New Stjarnan midfielder Jean Stephane Yao Yao made his debut.

Elsewhere FH lost by a score of 1-3 against 1. deild club Hauker. Matchday 7 will be on April 13th. Stjarnan,Breiðablik,FH and Haukar all control their destiny.
Deildabikar Review

What a run for our stars. The 2014 Deildabikar will be one to remember for the club. Casted as outsiders we proved everyone wrong and made it to the semi finals. Sadly though the run ended against Fram after a 1-3 loss. Last year as you remember we lost in the same round.

"This hurts losing like this but the guys are still in high spirits and are ready to win the league."- Gunnar Stahl.

Stjarnan will be away from playing for the next few weeks training and preparing for the May 13th match away against Valur to kick off the 2014 Úrvalsdeild. As of now Gunnar has a 6-1-2 record.
