
Third time's the charm

During the previous two finals Stjarnan came up short every single time. Would a third straight final be the one? Well it was, Stjarnan beat ÍBV by a score of 3-0. This is how it happened.On a breezy evening at Laugardalsvöllur, Stjarnan's captain Daniel Laxdal lifted the Bikarkeppni after the dominating win. "Finally we are champions, the last two finals left us and the fans with a broken heart, now things are better and we are champions"- Daniel Laxdal.
It was a scoreless match until the 47th minute, when winger Haukur Baldvinsson scored an accurate finish. Three minutes later Jóhann Laxdal would make the most out of an error from ÍBV and score a well placed shot. Winger Ólafur Karl Finsen completed the rout with a tap in the the 87th minute.
After the victory the traveling Stjarnan supporters were singing Manager Gunnar Stahl's name. One fan said he was extremely pleased with the amount of chances the team created during the match. The Laxdal brothers and Baldvinsson impressed the fans.

With the victory Stjarnan have qualified for the 2015-16 UEFA Europa League. This will be the first time the club has ever played in Europe when they will enter in the First Qualifying Round. Stjarnan still have a chance to win the league and then qualify for Champions League.
