January - Taking our chances

York vs Liverpool

York city, predicted to come last in league 2 of the English football league, had been having a fine season. sitting 6th in their league. Coming into the game at home to Liverpool, would not be an easy task. Most likely their hardest fixture this year, however they were coming off the back of three straight wins against Bury, Accrington, and Morecambe. The team would be full of confidence, but whether that confidence would be able to see off top of the premier league side Liverpool, would remain to be seen.

Liverpool, as expected, got off to a fine start when Daniel Sturridge hit the back of the net in the 13th minute. Debutant Clement Grenier, was the provider as a well struck ball from all of 50 yards away, was touched down by Sturridge before being smashed first time into the bottom corner. It was 1-0, and now that Liverpool looked ready to hit some more in, York had some very hard work on their hands.

Clement Grenier, who'd just signed for Liverpool, was already having a great game, with an assist for Daniel Sturridge. Little did he know it'd get any better. In the 28th minute Daniel Sturridge would repay the favour by crossing the ball into Grenier, the ball went slightly behind the midfielder but that didn't seem to matter...He kept running, and won the ball then, in the blink of an eye, turned and struck the ball into the top corner. The tenacious midfielder got his reward, and he was ready for more.

A while after Grenier's goal, in the 73rd minute, it was now York's turn to try and strike back. Sander Pudil had the chance to score his first goal for the club in 10 games, a free kick on the edge of the box, and a well struck shot into the bottom corner saw York back in the game, but with only 17 minutes to go, could they go one step further and do what was thought impossible?

Well, no. Unfortunately for the league 2 side, they just couldn't gain momentum, and suffered a set back 5 minutes later to captain Steven Gerrard. A through ball from Aspas, looked to powerful for Gerrard to reach but some how he managed to cross the ball back in...but at the same time, smacking the ball against the post rebounding the ball over the line. A crazy finish.

Player of the month & Monthly review

Well, another great month, it wasn't the greatest, but just like last month, it kept us at the top above Man United, but they are not far off, and we must up our game! We didn't take enough of our chances, which you can see against Arsenal, we were by far the better side. But we can Take many positives out of this month and we will look to carry momentum into the next month. Player of the month is once again Luis Suarez, he has been superb in front of goal, as ever.
I like the update style and some decent results to go with it too

Abysmal Performances

Liverpool vs Manchester City

Liverpool, were clearly having one fine season...and 2 fantastic signings in January, would come in and to try and solidify The reds' place at the top of the premiership. However, their performances, and more so the entire teams performances...were not what Rodgers was expecting. Liverpool would Play Manchester City, in their next game...and it was anyone's game.

Liverpool took the lead on 12 minutes through midfielder Jordan Henderson. Steven Gerrard whipped in the ball from a corner, earned just a few seconds earlier. The ball was headed out, but not far enough has Henderson controlled the ball, an put it onto his right while managing to take on Fernandinho, He then struck the ball as hard as he ever has and rifled the ball into the top corner.

On 29 minutes, City would level through Edin Dzeko, the striker was played in for a one on one opportunity, against Mignolet...and sure enough, he found the back of the net by passing it hard and low into the right bottom corner.

The two teams didn't stay level for very long. Just three minutes after Dzeko's superb finish, Ivan Rakitic managed to get himself on the score sheet from a free kick on the edge of the box. He took his chance brilliantly curling the ball around the right side of the wall and into the top corner. A great goal, to hopefully seal a great and memorable win.

Well, it seemed that not only was City's defense leaky today, but also...Liverpool's. New signing Andre Ayew wasn't hesitant on taking his chances, when put in through on goal with a fine lobbed ball from Yaya Toure. He touched the ball down and with one deft chip of the ball...lobbed Mignolet, making a mockery out of the entire Liverpool Defense. Not that, that is hard...

Winger David Silva, n 70 minutes...would ultimately win the game for the citizens. A shot from Nasri was parried away by keeper Mignolet, but the ball only went as far as Johnson, who somehow managed to pass it straight to Silva, who made no mistake in poaching the empty net. the score was now 3-2.

Glenn Johnson's poor mistake was now about to lead to another, and make this day one of the worst in his footballing career. The long ball from Yaya Toure came in, and Johnson looked to have it covered. He watched the ball all the way down, but as Mignolet went to run out he couldn't get back onto his line in time for Johnson's header. Johnson managed to lob Mignolet and Mignolet managed to get lobbed twice in one game. The right back saw it all the way, but he couldn't spot Mignolet off his line. A school boy error.

The game ended 4-2, and it seemed like a taste of their own medicine for Liverpool, considering their fantastic 4-2 win at the Etihad, early on in the season.

Monthly review

What an absolute monstrosity, we were diabolical this month, and I am NOT HAPPY! All of our fine form and hard work has been for nothing! Thankfully we remain in the top 4 in 3rd place, but we have conceded top spot to United, and that is not acceptable. Surrender to the enemy is not an option. Ever. We have ruined our chances of winning the title now, we can get top four, with ease. But even if we won all of our remaining games, the title would still be unrealistic. The players only have themselves to blame.
What a bad month mate!
AAN: Oh god! don't even go there! Lol, we will bounce back, never you mind:P

Yarmolenko, The Number One Target

Today, a source from Germany has revealed to BBC Sport that there could still be life in the January transfer window for Liverpool. Liverpool, made two early signings in the window, in the form of Danny Rose & Clement Grenier. Brendan Rodgers did state after he bought the players, that the reds would not make a move for another player. However, it seems that Ukranian left winger, Andriy Yarmolenko, could be a red before 12 o'clock tomorrow!

Liverpool scouts were spotted just yesterday, presumably watching the Ukrainian left winger, and they are said to have returned from their tip giving Rodgers the green light. An offer of around £18.500,000 is the apparent amount that the Merseyside club will offer Kyiv.

We got a word in with Rodgers just before the Everton match and when asked on the rumours linking him to a move with Yarmolenko he responded with probably what most Reds fans would have wanted to hear;

I am not going into to much detail, no. I will confirm that we have been watching the lad and I am an admirer of his talent. I think he could really help boost our squad to the team I want it to be. I think he has bags of potential, and he is already in my opinion 'of premier league quality'. But as I say, that is all I will saying on the matter. I can't confirm if/when we will make a move for him."

We at BBC Sport, do not think it is likely a move will be made this transfer window, as we did also speak to the player himself to get his view on a move to Liverpool, we asked the man 'Can you give us any insight on the rumours linking you to Liverpool? Is Liverpool a good move?'...Here is how he responded;

I don't think a move mid-season is ideal for me, I think it would be best that I finish the season with Kyiv and then decide on how I feel about a move. I do think actually that Liverpool could be the perfect destination for me, it would be a massive step up...But for now I am a Dynamo Kyiv player, and will remain loyal to them until I decide where my future lays, whether that be here in Ukraine or there in Liverpool."

Well, Liverpool have also been linked with the likes of Basel winger Mohammed Salah and Derby centre midfielder Will Hughes, we know that first choice has been negotiated between Liverpool and Derby for the centre midfielder and Salah has recently rejected a move to premier league outfit Chelsea. Whether or not Liverpool will make a move for either player, we cannot reveal.
Would be a class signing :) £18m would be a decent price for him too

Monaco make late bid for Ukrainian

Tonight, French outfit Monaco Football Club have told BBC Sport that they have made an official bid for Ukrainian left winger, Andriy Yarmolenko, just hours have to premier league side Liverpool announced that they themselves would be in for the Dynamo Kyiv star. The fee is undisclosed and thought to be in the region of 21 million pounds, 3 million pounds more than the reds' possible bid.

So, it looks like the scouser's have a new rival in the transfer market, and could be set to be beaten by them. However, no one knows just how determined Rodgers and Ayre will be to confirm the signing of Yarmolenko, so he is anyone's man right now! National star, Andriy Shevchenko, believes it is all about tenacity;

"I think Yarmolenko has bags of talent. The situation at the moment is just like any other transfer saga, two...maybe three clubs going at it for one signing with the player still content at hi current club. I believe at the end of the season Andriy will move, and I am rooting for Liverpool right now because to go to Monaco would be disastrous. They spnd money on any good player they find, and soon...Soon they will be like PSG. A washed up pile of rubbish. And believe me they are. And his talent would be wasted. I just hope Liverpool make a bid for him. Between now and the summer, it is all about who will be the most tenacious businessman, but wherever the lad goes, I believe he will make the right choice, Liverpool."

Wise words from the Ukraine and Milan legend, but will his opinion spin Yarmolenko in the right direction? More, news from around the football world as it happens. Stay tuned, to BBC Sport.
I hope he will sign with you mate!
Hopefully you can still sign Yarmolenko as he would be a great player for you!

Regaining form

Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur

Last time around, Liverpool were the side kneeling before Tottenham at White Hart Lane, but having only dropped 9 points at home (Less than anyone in the league) Could they pick up their form from last month, and pull off a much needed win at Anfield?

Early goals have been some sort of a trend at Anfield and generally for Liverpool all season long. That trend looked set to carry on in this game. A low cross into the box from full back Glenn Johnson in the 15th minute posed a big threat to Spurs' defense, At first glance it did however look as if Lloris had it covered, but a poor bit of keeping from the Frenchman saw him parry the ball away, but only has far as fellow international teammate Younes Kaboul. The ball ricocheted off his head and into the back of the Spurs net. Spurs were now 1-0 down, with some hard work on their hands.

Spurs are obviously a team with plenty of quality, and they knew it, but through the course of the season, they have rarely showed it. In the 19th minute however, they did show their undeniable skill with a superb team goal. Spurs held the ball in the centre of the park for all of 2 minutes before actually making their possession worth while. A slick pass from Brazillian maestro Sandro, managed to meet Lamela on the wing, a first time cross from thw winger met the head of Soldado, who flicked the ball behind him and onto Nacer Chadli who struck the ball on the volley at full power! A goal was inevitable, and Spurs looked fired up and ready to hit back again.

But, Spurs had taken too long to gain momentum. Right after Liverpool kicked off the game for the third time, it was all them for the next 10 minutes. Tottenham couldn't get more than 10 seconds on the ball. They got 5 if very lucky! On 28 minutes, Clament Grenier was lurking out side of the box ready for the ball, Lucas made the pass to the midfielder and he struck it with venom. The ball hit the bar and rebounded back toward Liverpool playmaker Philipe Coutinho, who had no problems when striking it into the net.

The game ended 2-1, and Liverpool had their first win in 6 games. Could they regain form against Cardiff and maybe...just maybe do what was thought in possible and go onto scrape the league title? Well, that will be all that's on the players' mind at the moment. Taking any silverwear from United is a great thing for Liverpool and their fans.

Monthly review

Ah! A fine month, not as good as we have been but a huge step up from last month, I spoke to the lads all together, and the team spirit despite recent results has been fantastic! The team pulled together, all in the same and right direction, and we have regained our form...Is the title a step to far? This season, yes.
A much improved month for you there hopefully your form will get even better and you can maybe still have a chance at winning the title still :D
A mixed month, but the result against Tottenham it's great!
yeah mixed month but still looking ok. good luck next month
